The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK) , the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI), the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA )  ,and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification in Korea (BSCPRKP) issued a joint statement supporting the statement of comrade Kim Yo Jong ,  vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea which was issued on Sunday 1st of August ;

  Recently thanks to the peace loving stand of People's Korea and its correct policy on reunification  the inter-Korean communication lines , 'the hotline ' was restored . Of course this is a good thing and no one can be against it . However , the south Korean media tried to read more into the the issue than really existed and veered off into speculation and conjecture about summits and the like .

 Comrade Kim Yo Jong ,   vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea  made a statement clarifying the stand of the DPRK  on the issue saying that '   What I think is that the restoration of the communication liaison lines should not be taken as anything more than just the physical reconnection..Hasty speculation and groundless interpretation will only bring despair, instead". This makes the DPRK's position crystal clear and means that there can be no mistake about . We are grateful to comrade Kim Yo Jong for her excellent clarification of the issue.

  As the statement points out that despite the summits and joint declarations between the DPRK and south Korea three years ago , there have been many undesirable incidents and as well as twists and turns . This shows it is foolish to have a high expectation of the south Korean 'liberal ' regime .

 Worse still there is talk of joint south Korean -US military exercises taking place at the end of August . Such exercises will not only undermine  the mood of peace but are contrary to the joint declarations signed by the south Korean rulers at different summits in 2018,

 Comrade Kim Yo Jong  warns the south Korean authorities that ' Our government and army will closely follow whether the south Korean side stages hostile war exercises in August or makes other bold decision.'.

Basically it is up to south Korea and those pulling their strings whether the situation brings hope or whether it bring despair . It is the choice of south Korea and not the DPRK.

Our organisations strongly support the statement of comrade Kim Yo Jong . We also denounce strongly any planned US-south Korea war exercises and call for their cancellation !
