Ongoing October Resistance for Democracy

Ongoing October Resistance for Democracy

South Korean people’s resistance for democracy against the diabolical fascist rule of Park Chung-hee military junta took place in south Korea, 37 years ago.
At that time, south Korea was reduced into a desert of democracy in which south Korean people’s human rights were trampled down by the fascist rule of “yusin” tyrant.
The flames of the resistance, which started from the anti-regime demonstration of students of Busan University on Oct. 16, 1979, rapidly spread to different parts of south Korea with the participation of people from all social standings including workers, peasants and citizens.
The resistance fighters waged unyielding and determined struggles, chanting slogans calling for the repeal of "yusin constitution" and the resignation of the dictatorial regime and the freedom of speech and campus despite the brutal suppression of the resistance by heavily armed police and servicemen of the puppet army.
The resistance fighters brought Park Chung-hee, who committed monstrous crimes against the nation with his pro-US sycophancy, fascist despotism, inter-Korean confrontation policy and war maneuvers against north Korea, to ruin and dealt a serious shock at the US colonial fascist rule over south Korea.
The October resistance clearly showed that no barbarous dictatorship can check the people’s aspiration and unity and that the dictatorial group is sure to meet its disgraceful end.
It has been thirty-seven years since the resistance for democracy, but the desire of the fighters for independence, democracy and reunification has not been fulfilled.
Park Geun-hye, a daughter of “yusin” despot Park Chung-hee who met untimely death, has revived her father’s “yusin” autocracy, cracked down on the democratic forces, tightened “alliance” with outsiders and launched war games against north Korea to worsen inter-Korean relations.
Owing to the Park regime’s misrule, the south Korean people are driven to bay without democratic liberty, right and the right to live.
The south Korean authorities are plotting to reduce south Korea and the Korean Peninsula into a theater of nuclear war with introduction of THAAD deployment.
The south Korean people would never free themselves from miserable plight and the Korean nation would face a terrible disaster as long as the Park clique stays in power.
The realities of the prevailing situation in south Korea show the Park regime is a group of flagrant fascists and traitors without an equal in the world.
The broad segments of people should wipe out the Park regime to build a new society of independence, democracy and reunification by waging a dynamic mass struggle in the same spirit and stamina as displayed by the resistance fighters.
