An online meeting to commemorate the 109th anniversary of the birth of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG and other DPRK significant anniversaries was organised by the Korean Friendship Association UK and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea , supported by other organisations , and was held on 11th of April at 1600 hours BST . Participating in the meeting were members of KFA UK from London , West of England , Staffordshire and North West as well as KFA branches from Serbia , Switzerland and Finland plus the Juche Idea Study Group of Ireland .Andy Brooks general secretary of the New Communist Party was a guest speaker to the meeting . Written messages were received from the Brazilian Centre for the Study of Songun Politics and the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain ML.
Dr Dermot Hudson opened the meeting saying it was an important act of solidarity with People’s Korea to celebrate the 109th anniversary of the birth of President KIM IL SUNG who was a great leader who gave the Korean people independence . Dr Hudson also said that it was 9 years since respected Marshal KIM JONG UN became supreme leader of People’s Korea . Marshal KIM JONG UN had been elected as supreme leader of the DPRK by the unanimous will of the Korean people . The past 9 years have been years of rising prosperity and the DPRK has become a nuclear power .
The head of Staffordshire KFA UK branch and head of the Stoke On Trent branch spoke about the great achievements made by President KIM IL SUNG in creating the Juche Idea and building a socialist country in the land of Korea . He stressed that President KIM IL SUNG worked tirelessly for the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea putting forward many proposals for reunification and that President KIM IL SUNG always promoted world peace . The head of Staffordshire KFA UK branch also pointed out that the Workers Party of Korea always looks to the future unlike some parties which look to the past .
The chairman of the Juche Idea Study Group of Ireland in his speech said that ‘Great Comrade KIM IL SUNG serves as a major driving force of motivation for the Juche Idea Study Group of Ireland. If the peoples of the world can aspire to be like Great Comrade KIM IL SUNG you would find a society that resonates with the term utopia.’
The head of KFA Serbia in his speech said in part that ‘It is April 15th, and whole of Korean people and progressive people all over the world celebrate the immortal ideals of President Kim Il Sung and achievements he made in liberating the Korean nation from the Japanese imperialists as a guerrilla fighter and liberating the Korean working masses through his revolutionary policies he adopted at the formation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Andy Brooks the general secretary of the New Communist Party who is a KFA member recalled how he met President KIM IL SUNG twice . He spoke of the great reverence of the Korean people and world progressive people . He referred to the comradeship between President KIM IL SUNG and his loyal fighters such as vice premier KIm Chaek . Andy said that the cause of President KIM IL SUNG was continued by his successor Chairman KIM JONG IL who declared ‘Expect No Change from Me ‘.
The head of KFA Finland said that ‘He played an important role on DPRK – Finland relations. Both Finland and Korea struggled for their right to be an independent nation and that right
must never be taken away by EU or US.’
The representative of KFA West of England in his speech said that
Today’s meeting is on a special occasion, it is 'The Day of Sun' and 109th - Anniversary of birth of the Eternal President KIM IL SUNG. It is the occasion to reflect on memories about his extraordinary life and the revolutionary struggles during President KIM IL SUNG'S life.
His personal features such as patriotism, creativity, iron will, and bravery serve as a model for us. President KIM IL SUNG gave for the Korean Nation a socialist economic and political system as well as
strength, wisdom, power and wellbeing. This philosophy works is known as ‘Korea of Juche’; an Asian superpower, majestic country of socialist power, independent, self - supporting and self-defensive. But we have to remember, this miracle begins from hard times and has the blood of communist fighters from guerrilla camps and Korean People's Army through many years of struggle. It is remarkable to remember in this special day, that the victory of President KIM IL SUNG Is based on their revolutionary struggle of fighters and heroic soldiers, they sacrificed their lives for the Korean Revolution with the name of President KIM IL SUNG in their hearts and mouths, no matter the hardship and they even lost their lives.
President KIM IL SUNG played a major role in military leadership during anti - Japanese struggle and US attack with Korean War ( 1950 - 1953 ). President KIM IL SUNG took leadership in the first decades of Korea to build a Korean style socialism.
The message from the Centre for the Study of Songun Politics of Brazil stated that “As everyone knows, the life story of President Kim Il Sung in the past century brings together the history of Korea itself. The dedication of all their efforts and life to the liberation of Korea and the building of socialism are seen today with great admiration by people from all over the world.
As creator of the great Juche Idea, President Kim Il Sung became an immortal figure in the revolutionary world picture by adding to political philosophy a new idea based on the independence of the human being, tracing and illuminating the way for future generations in all places in the world to carry out their own acts of independence.’
The representative of KFA Switzerland read out the speech of Martin Lotscher president of the Swiss Preparatory Committee for the Celebration of the 109th Birthday Anniversary of President KIM IL SUNG,president of the Swiss Organizing Committee for the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt. Paektu,president of the Swiss Juche Idea Study Group , which said in part ‘Many countries of the world suffer turmoil, "coloured revolutions", civil war and chaos or disappeared completely from the world map.
And the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic under which the capitalist world is suffering so heavily worsens the situation.
But there is a country that knows no interior conflicts or contradictions and no chaos and has not a single case of COVID-19. That is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), socialist Korea, the country of Juche!
Thanks to the great Juche Idea, fathered by the great Leader Comrade KIM IL SUNG, the DPRK enjoys single-minded unity of the people around the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the leader.
The Korean people are like a harmonious family with a good-hearted and tender father at its helm.’
The message from the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain ML concluded that ‘ The great achievements of President Kim Il Sung are reflected in the revolutionary spirit of the people of the DPRK today in the work to build a bright future themselves, safeguard their independence and reunify their country. At a time when the peoples of the world are striving to defeat imperialism around the world, a great debt is owed to President Kim Il Sung and the Korean people for the incalculable sacrifices made to establish the DPRK which has been an implacable bulwark against US imperialism, and to reunify Korea so as to guarantee peace on the Korean peninsula, thereby contributing greatly to the peace and security of the region and the entire globe.
We salute the immortal memory of President Kim Il Sung!’
Dr Dermot Hudson Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and Chairman of KFA UK said that ‘In four days time the Korean people and world progressive people will celebrate the Day of the Sun .The respect for the great leader President KIM IL SUNG from the world Juche idea followers and Songun idea followers grows deeper with each passing year and indeed each passing day .Celebrating the birth of President KIM IL SUNG Is act an of practical solidarity with People's Korea because President KIM IL SUNG was the founder of People’s Korea and led the socialist revolution and construction in People’s Korea over several decades . The DPRK which today is fighting against the sanctions , upholding self-reliance , socialism and independence , is the country that President KIM IL SUNG fought and worked hard to create .
I can remember on my first visit to the DPRK back in May 1992 , nearly 30 years ago , how a young Korean man explained why they wore the badge of President KIM IL SUNG . No one forced them to do so , there was no law telling them to wear the badge bearing the image of President KIM IL SUNG .My friend explained that he wore the badge by his own decision because without President KIM IL SUNG there would be no Korea , it would not exist . It is as simple as that .
He concluded that ‘ We join with the world progressive people including the Juche Idea , Songun Idea followers and true friends of People's Korea throughout the whole world in saluting the 109th anniversary of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG !

Dr Hudson also paid tribute to the Korean People’s Army on the 89th anniversary of its foundation as a guerilla force on the 25th of April pointing out that ‘ Under the wise leadership of the great GENERALISSIMO'S KIM IL SUNG and KIM JONG IL the KPA grew into steel strong ranks each soldier being a match for a hundred enemy soldiers.The KPA inflicted a crushing defeat on the US imperialists in the great Fatherland Liberation War of 1950-1953.The KPA also defeated the US in the ‘Pueblo incident’,'EC121 incident’, ‘Panmunjom incident’ of 1976 and the 1994 helicopter shoot down incident.’
A message to dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN was adopted.
