The Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK), the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI) , UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA ) and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula(BSCPRKP)issued the following joint statement supporting the statement of comrade Kim Yong Chol, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea (WPK) which was  issued on the 23rd of June :
The DPRK announced, at the  preliminary meeting for the fifth meeting of the Seventh Central Military Commission of the WPK held on June 23, the significant and magnanimous step of putting on hold the planned military measures against south Korea that had been drawn up by the General staff of the Korean People's Army , This measure defused tension. It also gave the south Korean side a chance to reflect on their actions and make amends for their wrongful deeds.
However instead , as noted by vice-chairman comrade Kim Yong Chol , the south Korean 'defence minister' arrogantly demanded that the  DPRK withdraw its plans for military action . Worse still south Korea blustered about ' boosting alert posture".Worse still another attempt at leaflet scattering was made by so-called 'defectors ' on the 23rd of June .
Vice- chairman comrade Kim Yong Il correctly stresses  peace cannot be achieved simply by the efforts of one side alone . South Korea needs to take its own steps to defuse tension and guarantee peace.
The statement of vice-chairman comrade Kim Yong Chol warns the south Korean side that the DPRK may reconsider its suspension of military action against south Korea . We support this just stand of People's Korea which is both firm and fair at the same time . South Korea must end is provocations against the  DPRK !
