It is said that the greatness of a country is determined by the greatness of its leader. Indeed the mark of a great leader is the creation of a new era.The great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG opened up the Juche era, the era in which the popular masses have emerged as master of their destiny and have stepped forward to fight for independence.
The great leader comrade KIM JONG IL opened the Songun(or military first era) era, a new era in the development of the Juche idea and elucidated the course and strategy for accomplishing the cause of socialism in the DPRK and the world.
The Songun era is a new and exciting era in which socialism and imperialism confrontation each other by means of force. It is an era in which Songun politics became the treasured sword for defending socialism. In the Songun era the struggle for socialism was been pushed forward more vigorously thanks to Songun politics.The militant hard line that the DPRK took against US imperialism thanks to the Songun-based revolutionary leadership of great leader generalissimo KIM JONG IL and the Songun politics inspiring the peoples of the world battling for independence and socialism.
The Songun revolutionary leadership of the great leader comrade KIM JONG Il began on the 25th of August 1960 at the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su no 105 Tank Division of the Korean People’s Army(KPA). This came at a time when the US imperialists were aggravating tension all over the world and trying to stifle the socialist camp militarily. Worse still some traitors within the international communist movement and socialist camp advocated a policy of peaceful co-existence which the lowering of gunsights and melting down tanks.
Throughout the course of his leadership and revolutionary activities the great leader comrade
KIM JONG IL strived to apply and develop the Songun idea that was first pioneered by the great leader President KIM IL SUNG. He administered Songun politics in earnest and in depth from the 1990s but of course Songun is deeply rooted in the history of the Korean revolution and goes way back to the early 1930s. Visiting the Takabasol (Dwarf pine) army base on the 1st of January 1995 generalissimo KIM JONG IL declared that the Korean people had a choice whether to remain independent guards or become colonial slaves of the imperialists, in order to defend independence Korea must pursue Songun politics!
The great Leader comrade KIM JONG IL administered Songun politics fully by building up the KPA as the core force of the Korean revolution. He ensured that the KPA was not only strong in arms but strong in ideology and politics. Opposing the modern revisionists attempts to 'de politicise ' and ' de ideologise' the army he ensured that the army held fast to the line of being the revolutionary armed force of the Workers' Party of Korea. Under the banner of the Songun Idea the DPRK pursues the most militant anti-imperialist, anti US line. The DPRK is the most anti-American country in the world as it carries the slogan “Let Us Wipe Out the US imperialist aggressors the sworn enemy of the Korean people “on its tanks. It rejects the ideological and cultural poisoning of imperialism. In 1999 Rodong Sinmun and the thereoctical magazine of the WPK "Kulloja " carried an article " "Let us reject imperialist ideological and cultural poisoning."
Comrade KIM JONG IL made sure the revolutionary soldier spirit , the epitome of the Songun revolutionary idea permeated the whole of society.During the difficult period of the mid 1990s
KPA soldiers completed the Anbyon power station a truly colossal project which in terms of scale and cost was double that of the West Sea barrage that was constructed in the 1980s.
Thanks to Songun politcs the independence and security of the DPRK was firmy defended and guaranteed. In the 1990s the US imperialists tried to stifle and overpower the DPRK militarily onhe pretext of the "nuclear issue " but People's Korea under the Songun leadership of great generalissimo
KIM JONG IL faced them down and won victory in the "war without gunshots " forcing the US imperialists to sign the DPRK-US Agreed Framework . Later Bush provoked the 2nd and 3rd nuclear crises but the response of Songun Korea and generalissimo KIM JONG IL was to withdraw totally from the "Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty " . On the 9th of October 2006 the world heard the thunder of the Songun bomb, the DPRK's first nuclear test and the DPRK became a nuclear power.
The DPRK's diplomatic relations expanded greatly during this period. All sorts of barriers were broken down and the DPRK established relations with previously hostile countries such as the UK and Germany.
The Songun era created by the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL was an era of great advance for the DPRK both nationally and internationally. Today the spirit of the Songun era is carried forward by dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN.
