The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK),the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE),the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and the UK Preparatory Committee For the 2017 Gathering to Praise the Great Persons Born of Mt Paektu issued the following joint statement supporting the call of the Korean Jurists Committee for an international forum on sanctions;
Recently the Korean Jurist Committee(KJC) pointed out that “The blockade-oriented "sanctions resolutions" against the DPRK, in particular, have drawn international censure as they are unethical actions going against civilization, acts aimed at totally denying the DPRK people's rights to existence and development and wrecking modern civilization and pushing the Korean society into darkness in the medieval age”
The UNSC sanctions on People's Korea are indeed deeply unjust and unfair and basically a declaration of war against People's Korea. UNSC resolution 2321 along with previous UNSC resolutions on sanctions against the DPRK is basically illegal. The DPRK nuclear and missile tests are purely self-defensive . The DPRK fully acted within its own rights and international law. Article 61 of the UN Charter on the right of self-defense and the article 12 of the Declaration on the right and responsibilities of the state said that every state has the right of individual or collective self-defense,There was no legitimate reason to bring the case of the DPRK's nuclear and missile tests to the UNSC and it should never have been discussed by the UNSC. This shows that the UNSC acted as a puppet of US imperialism and some big powers.
The sanctions are also deeply hypocritical as the US and other permanent members of the UNSC have carried out missile tests and nuclear tests but no one has imposed sanctions on them nor have these tests been discussed at the UN Security Council.
The whole legality of the sanctions against People's Korea needs to be examined impartially and professionally. Really there is no case under international law for the sanctions against People's Korea. Therefore we strongly support the call for an international forum to discuss questions of legality of sanctions against the DPRK. Moreover we believe that progressives around the world should campaign against the unjust and vindicative sanctions against People's Korea by the US imperialists and their reactionary acolytes.
