The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK), the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE) ,the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and UK Preparatory Committee For the 2017 Gathering to Praise the Great Persons Born of Mt Paektu issued a joint statement in support of the open letter of the National Defence Commission(NDC) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea ;
Our organisations, the ASSPUK, JISGE , UK KFA and the UK Preparatory Committee For the 2017 Gathering to Praise the Great Persons Born of Mt Paektu strongly support the Open letter to the south Korean authorities issued on the 20th of May which calls for the south Korean authorities to accept the proposal of the DPRK for north-south military authorities' talks.
The Korean peninsula is one of the most tense areas in the whole world where a conflict could break out at any time. In the past few years it has become even
more tense owing to the repeated anti-DPRK military exercises being carried out by the south Korean puppets and their US imperialist overlords. Even now the south Korean puppets are carrying out actions such as psychological broadcasting and leaflet-scattering operations. As the DPRK NDC Open Letter states "The continued grim situation under which both sides level their guns at each other with the Military Demarcation Line imposed by outside forces and the hotspot waters in the West Sea in between would inevitably lead to armed conflict and the outbreak of a war."
We believe that the north -south military talks would be an initial step on the road to peace and defusing the extreme tensions on the Korean peninsula. Because a conflict on the Korean peninsula could all too easily spill over to the
rest of Asia and the world the relaxation of tension and confidence building is a must , therefore we urge the south Korean authorities to accept the proposal from the DPRK for military talks.
