There
took place a workers rally, mass rally in Gwangju, south Korea on May 14 for
inheriting the spirit of the 36th anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Popular
Resistance under the sponsorship of the Confederation of Trade Unions and the
Solidarity for Progress.
Attending
it were workers, peasants, youth and students, more than 3 000 in all and
lawmakers from the opposition parties.
The
participants released a resolution.
It
said the successful April general election which punished the arrogance of the
present regime by the strength of the people is requiring a more positive
action.
They
said that they should be honorable before the spirits of the fallen uprisers by
encountering stubbornly with illegal acts of the current regime.
At
the rally speakers called upon workers and masses to get united to build a
world where the south and the north live together, world where workers can work
freely, peasants produce freely and all people are happy.
At
the end of the rally the participants made a grand march.
