KCNA Commentary Slams Abe's Visit to Yasukuni Shrine

Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- Japanese reactionaries are getting desperate in militarization.

Abe, who resigned his office as prime minister for illness, suddenly visited the Yasukuni Shrine, the symbol of militarism, less than a week after his resignation.

Not content with it, he twittered "Today I visited the Yasukuni Shrine and reported to the souls on my resignation."

This, a manifestation of recklessness inciting Japan to reinvasion, brings to light the true colors of a militaristic maniac again.

Abe, who inherited a "gene" for revival of fascism from his ancestors, worked hard to realize it and employed sleight of hand to cover up that black-hearted intention during his tenure of office.

In December, 2013, a year after his inauguration as prime minister, he came under sharp criticism at home and abroad for visiting the Yasukuni Shrine. However, he persisted in inciting ultra-nationalism throughout the Japanese society by employing such a sly method as making ritual offering to the shrine, instead of personally visiting it.

His regime billed its desperate pursuance of constitutional revision, unprecedented armed buildup and overseas expansion as "measures for protecting allies and tackling threat from neighboring countries" and "contribution to international community" and "proactive pacifism."

But as a leopard cannot change its spots, Abe revealed his true colors as an ultra-rightist and his policy of aggression under the eyes of the world by visiting the shrine.

Abe was well aware that he would face protests and denunciation by the international community for his visit to the shrine. But he visited it out of his sinister intention to facilitate the constitutional revision he failed to do during his tenure of office.

Now the public in Japan are getting vocal, censuring the former prime minister who caused social unrest by pursuing unpopular and aggressive policies like buildup of "defense capabilities."

Voices objecting to possession of the "capability for attacking enemy base" are heard even within the New Komeito Party, the partner of the Liberal Democratic Party in managing the coalition government.

Exasperated by this, Abe seeks to keep Japan on the track of militarism through his visit to the shrine.

Former soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army confessed at a press interview that they suffered ruin for inflicting untold misfortune upon the Asian people.

This is a serious lesson teaching that aggressors have no future.

The Japanese reactionaries will meet miserable and irretrievable ruin for persisting in reviving militarism, oblivious of the lesson. -0-

18th Meeting of Political Bureau of 7th Central Committee of WPK Held

Pyongyang, September 30 (KCNA) -- The 18th meeting of the Political Bureau of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) took place at the office building of the Central Committee of the WPK on Sept. 29.

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the WPK, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, was present at the meeting.

Attending the meeting were members of the Presidium and members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.

Present there as observers were directors of departments of the WPK Central Committee, members of the state anti-epidemic field and others concerned.

Upon authorization of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK, Chairman of the WPK Kim Jong Un presided over the meeting.

The meeting pointed out some faults found in preventing the inroads of the malignant virus and had an in-depth study and discussion about the issues on further intensifying the state emergency anti-epidemic work.

A report on worldwide damage by COVID-19 was made at the meeting.

The meeting stressed the need to strictly guard against self-complacency, carelessness, irresponsibility and slackness in the anti-epidemic field and employ home-grown style and wisdom to further toughen anti-epidemic measures. It also called for successfully maintaining a steel-strong anti-epidemic system and order by revving up the mass-based anti-epidemic atmosphere and intensifying the all-people unity of voluntary action.

The Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee examined the Party and state works, which have been conducted on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the Party, and the progress made in the campaign for recovery from natural disasters, before proposing, discussing and determining due organizational steps for ensuring their successful implementation.

The meeting also dealt with organizational matters.

The meeting, chaired by Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, marked an important occasion in devotedly protecting the security of the country and the people and stabilizing and improving their living standard as it took practical measures to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the Party as a genuine and auspicious holiday of the people and successfully conclude the campaign this year, the last year of the 5-year strategy for national economic development, despite the unprecedented crisis and natural disasters. -0-

Stupid Move of “Waiting One Hundred Years for Ocean to Dry Out”

 http://www.mfa.gov.kp/en/stupid-move-of-waiting-one-hundred-years-for-ocean-to-dry-out/

Suga regime which assumed office on September 16 is vocal in expressing its readiness to “continue with Abe’s policy.”

Since Suga regime has come into existence as conditional on Abe’s resignation, we do not care what it takes over and what it does.

However, if its “continuation with Abe’s policy” means provoking us, this cannot be overlooked.

As has already been laid bare, during his continued tenure as Prime Minister, Abe has pursued the most extreme hostile policy, as compared to all of his predecessors, aimed at isolating and stifling the DPRK politically and economically while clamoring for a comprehensive solution to “issues of nukes, missiles and abduction” by means of dialogue and pressure.

Abe especially has been adamant in misusing the issue of abduction – an issue which was long resolved by our goodwill – to earn his political popularity and image.

It was none other than Abe who made a fuss about “settlement of abduction issue” whenever he was trapped in the political scandals and faced with unfavorable circumstances at home during his tenure, thus fooling the people and fueling the confrontational atmosphere towards the DPRK.

It has turned out, though, that Abe’s policy on the DPRK incurred only the bitter result of total failure due to his pursuit of unfairness.

Ridiculous is that Suga regime, hardly unaware of this record, is again making a queer scene of begging here and there for a solution to abduction issue with a stupid wish, aping Abe’s attempt.

Even an idiot is said to avoid clinging to a matter the end result of which is obviously predisposed.

Explicitly stating once again, abduction issue was long resolved in an impeccable and irreversible manner thanks to our sincerity and efforts.

After all is said and done, it would be appropriate to comment that the conduct of the Japanese politicians who are engrossed in the stupid things is no less than a reckless move of “waiting one hundred years for ocean to dry out.”

IDEOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL MEANS BEYOND THE PARTY’S CONTROL CAN BE USED AS MEANS AGAINST THE REVOLUTION from Rodong Sinmun, August 19, 1995, p. 6-Milan Juche Idea Study Centre and KFA Italy

IDEOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL MEANS BEYOND THE PARTY’S CONTROL CAN BE USED AS MEANS AGAINST THE REVOLUTION

from Rodong Sinmun, August 19, 1995, p. 6

In the immortal classic work “Giving Priority to Ideological Work Is an Essential Requirement in Implementing the Socialist Cause,” the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il clearly elucidated the importance of the working-class party’s guidance and control of ideological and cultural means.

The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il noted:

“When ideological and cultural means are beyond the party’s guidance and control in the socialist society, they can be used as means against the revolution. This is proved by the fact that betrayers of socialism and reactionaries held sway in ideological and cultural means and used them for attacking socialism in the past in some countries where socialism was being built.”

It is the most important principle of ideological work to guarantee the working-class party’s leadership for ideological work. It is particularly important to strengthen the working-class party’s guidance and control of ideological and cultural means, such as publications, literature, and art. This is because ideological and cultural means serve as powerful weapons for educating, organizing, and mobilizing the masses.

Ideological work is work of handling people’s ideas; press, publishing, literature, and art activities take important part of the party’s ideological work. Ideological and cultural means are powerful and great influential ideological weapons for propagating the party’s ideas and policies to a broad range of the popular masses everyday and at every hour.

In the socialist society, all ideological and cultural means, including the press, publications, literature, and art, should thoroughly serve as means to defend and advance the socialist cause in accordance with the popular masses’ demand for independence. To implement this mission, the ideological and cultural means should be under the party’s guidance and control. Only when they are under the party’s guidance and control, can they truly contribute to defending and completing the socialist cause and brilliantly implement their mission and role as powerful ideological weapons.

As the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il elucidated, in the socialist society, ideological and cultural means beyond the party’s guidance and control can be used as antirevolutionary means. This is proved by the realities of those countries where capitalism has been rehabilitated.

In the past, betrayers of socialism and reactionaries held sway in ideological and cultural means and used them for attacking socialism in some countries where socialism was being built.

Betrayers of socialism and reactionaries in the former Soviet Union employed cunning methods to push ideological and cultural means out of the working-class party’s control. One of the methods is “openness.” Calling for “openness,” they let papers, magazines, radio, and television handle materials on some cadres’ irregularities. Then, they exaggerated and blazed the cadres’ irregularities as if they were intrinsic demerits of the socialist society, so that they tarnished the image of cadres and brought about the grave consequence of alienating the masses from the party.

Following the stage of “openness,” betrayers of socialism called for “free journalism,” “free publications,” and “free movies and plays.” As a result, the control system of ideological and cultural means vanished, and new publications appeared to directly report party sessions and government meetings, which had been held behind the curtains previously. Ideological and cultural means became able to do whatever they wanted to do. Avail themselves of this situation, betrayers and enemies of socialism held sway in ideological and cultural means and began to attack socialism.

Backed by the betrayers of socialism, a book entitled “There Is No Way But Reform” was published in the former Soviet Union in 1988. The book was written by reactionary philosophers, historians, and economists who had been criticized before. Following the book, many publications came out to begin to viciously slander socialism and criticize it as “totalitarian,” “a military barrack,” or “an administrative and commanding style,” saying deviations that occur in the course of socialist construction are inevitable in the socialist society. At the same time, malignant posters slandering socialism were hung everywhere.

At the fifth meeting of film functionaries, “liberalization” was officially declared, and an erotic film entitled “Those Who Have Lost Taste for Money” was officially produced for the first time in Russia in 1994. Such erotic films as “Little Vera,” “Arlekino,” and “An Emergency Within the Scope of District” are now running in Russia. In addition to these erotic films, a Russian art film entitled “The Heaven” shows illusory scenes of maneuvers by deformed and disabled people who are “ghosts” coming out of tombs. Novels, poems, and songs also have their own ways. The phrase “My mother and I lived here under the shining sun and the blue sky,” which was part of the words of the “Song of Sunrise,” have been changed into “I wish I always had vodka, a salted herring, smoked sausage, and tobacco in my pockets and a girl in my trunk.”

The betrayers of socialism also allowed the private ownership of ideological and cultural means and let them attack socialism. Those countries where capitalism has been rehabilitated put the private ownership into practice and let rich individuals occupy ideological and cultural means. As a result, ideological and cultural facilities have turned into places where their owners earn money by providing people with entertainment. Many erotic magazines, cartoons, art pieces, cassette tapes, and video tapes are produced and sell well in those countries. Postcards have nude pictures of “queens of night” who assume the most loathsome pose. Seen even on tickets of movie theaters and gymnasiums are words inviting male and female debauchees to a certain place at a certain time for a “model performance” on the stage.

Privately owned television and movie theaters run corrupt Western films on a large scale to win popularity and earn a lot of money. For example, a Czech television station runs everyday Western films showing that two protagonists shoot each other’s head with guns at the same time, that a person picks out the liver of a corpse and slices it, and that an actor and an actress make love. With increasing voices against this, the Czech Government has recently decided to restrict erotic and violent television programs at the minimum level. However, such unsound programs are reportedly still aired because the state cannot control privately owned television channels such as NOVA. What interests these corporations is nothing but earning money. The adolescents who saw erotic films are living low-down lives, crying that “we must live in the erotic world under current situation” and that “sex is our bread and life.” As shown above, ideological and cultural means under the sway of betrayers of socialism and reactionaries are infusing people with the capitalist idea and are turning the society into a hotbed of crime.

Ideological and cultural means beyond the control of the working-class party, which were reduced to antirevolutionary means, have made a great contribution to destroying socialism and rehabilitating capitalism in some countries.

Without the party’s guidance and control, revolutionary ideological and cultural means of the working class cannot exist, nor can we think of their militant might. Herein lies the reason why the working-class party’s guidance and control of ideological and cultural means is important.

UK KFA statement on Raab's visit to south Korea

                                        UK KOREAN FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION

     29th of September 2020.

The UK Korean Friendship Association issued  the following statement today concerning the visit of UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab  to south Korea and the Demilitarized Zone  today ;
Through the media we learnt that UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab visited south Korea for the so-called '5th Britain -south Korea strategic dialogue ' and also visited the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) .
Visiting the DMZ was a provocation to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea . The shameful history of the UK on the Korean peninsula should be recalled , it was the UK that sent troops to fight against the young People's Korea in 1950 and prevent Korea from being reunified . Instead of aiding and abetting Korea's division , the British government should take a positive stance towards the peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula and not interfere in the affairs of the Korean nation.
Raab made an empty call for the 'denuclearisation ' of the DPRK together with the south Korean puppets . This is also an affront to the DPRK . Instead of the so-called 'denuclearisation ' of the DPRK which is basically a code word for regime change in People's Korea , Britain should work for the denuclearisation of the entire Korean peninsula which would include the withdrawal of US nuclear weapons from in and around the Korean peninsula .
Rather than sending Raab on a visit to south Korea , Britain should have torn up the unjust sanctions  against People 's Korea and Raab should have visited Pyongyang to strike a post Brexit trade deal with the DPRK which benefit both countries.
Britain should stop supporting south Korea and instead forge better relations with People's Korea !

NO TO BRITISH INTERFERENCE IN KOREA !
KOREA IS ONE !

Why British sanctions against People's Korea Are wrong

On the 7th of July  the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office announced that it was imposing sanctions on two alleged entities in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) as part of its 'new global human rights regime' .

Two law enforcement agencies  in the DPRK have been sanctioned by the UK for alleged "forced labour, torture and murder'  in  'gulags' in the DPRK . This is a false and nonsensical allegation as there are no 'gulags 'in the DPRK , gulag being a Russian term which refers to correctional labour camps that existed for a period in the former USSR .  UK KFA rejects the allegation that there are such things  in People's Korea .

These sanctions by the Foreign and Commonwealth are in addition to the sanctions imposed on People’s Korea by the UN , US and EU . Since 2016 the UN Security Council , five times  . The DPRK is the most heavily sanctioned country on earth . Sanctions are an act of war , they are a crime against humanity and in fact none of the sanctions imposed on the DPRK have any legal basis -what law says that the DPRK cannot have nuclear weapons.

The sanctions are really aimed at regime change , bringing down the people’s government and making the country a colony of the US so that the US and others can seize control of the trillion dollars worth of rare earth deposits in the country.

It is truly deplorable that instead of concentrating on developing good relations with the DPRK on the basis of independence , mutual benefit and co-operation , the British government is obsessed with imposing sanctions on People's Korea one after the other . Britain's withdrawal from the European Union(EU) could have heralded a new era in Britain-DPRK relations with Britain tearing up EU sanctions against the DPRK and negotiating new trade deals with the DPRK

Report of UK KFA PIcket of the FCO against the unjust British sanctions on People's Korea

On Saturday 26th of September the UK Korean Friendship Association picketed the Foreign and Commonwealth Office(FCO) to demand an end to the British sanctions against People's Korea imposed in July this year in addition to the sanctions imposed on the DPRK by the UN Security Council , US , EU , Japan and south Korea which make the DPRK the most sanctioned country on the planet .

Things were initially a bit chaotic and fraught at the start as the police had blocked off King Charles Street where the FCO is located  . We had informed the police in plenty of time before the picket that we intended to mount a static protest outside the FCO although we were given a reference number no one from the police contacted us prior to picket so we had idea that we could not access King Charles Street to protest directly opposite the FCO . However after short negotiations with the police the picket went ahead on the corner of King Charles Street and Whitehall .

The picket was attended by members of UK KFA , Andy Brooks general secretary of the New Communist Party and a Central Committee member of the New Communist Party plus  a member of UNITE the Union .

Dr Dermot Hudson was interviewed at the picket at length by a journalist . In the interview Dr Hudson explained why they were picketing and denounced the unjust sanctions imposed by the British government . He also defended the human rights record of People's Korea against false accusations.

The KFA UK banner and DPRK flag were displayed along with placards calling for an end to British sanctions against the DPRK . Leaflets supporting the DPRK were handed out to passers by .

Picket concluded at 1645 hours .

S. Korean Authorities Warned against Intrusion

S. Korean Authorities Warned against Intrusion

Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency issued the following report to warn the south Korean authorities on September 27:

In connection with the occurrence of an awful case which should not have happened in the present phase of the inter-Korean relations, we investigated it and notified the south side about its detailed account on September 25.

We also took more necessary security measures in order to make sure that no more incident spoiling the relations of trust and respect between the north and the south would happen in any case, true to the intention of our Supreme Leadership.

We are about to organize a search operation in the southwestern waters and the western seashore. We even consider the procedures and ways of handing over any tide-brought corpse to the south side conventionally in case we find it during the operation.

However, according to a report by the western fleet of our navy, the south side has mobilized many vessels including warships to an action presumed to be a search operation and let them intrude into our territorial waters since September 25. It arouses our due vigilance as it may lead to another awful incident.

We don't care whether the south side conducts any kind of search operation in its territorial waters or not.

But we can never overlook any intrusion into our territorial waters and we seriously warn the south side against it.

We urge the south side to immediately halt the intrusion across the military demarcation line in the west sea that may lead to escalation of tensions. -0

75 Years of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Vanguard of the Korean Revolution- contribution of Lukáš Vrobel, First Vice-Chairman of the Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association and the Czech Group for the Study and Materialization of the Juche Idea to International E Seminar

We are celebrating this year's 75th anniversary of the founding of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea (October 10, 1945) in an atmosphere of further proud achievements of the Korean Revolution under the brilliant leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un, but also in an extremely challenging period when socialist Korea bravely faces a series of brutal natural disasters, the worldwide coronavirus pandemic and the continuing pressure, threats and criminal sanctions of the imperialists and their henchmen.

In 75 years, the people of the liberated northern half of Korea, under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, have achieved admirable and all-round achievements that cannot be described in brief. Twice they literally lifted the country from the rubble and ashes, the first for forty years of occupation by the Japanese fascists and the second time after the criminal war of extermination led by US imperialists, the south Korean puppet clique and their minions.

Korean socialism has provided all people with social gains that capitalism has never been able to provide: free health care, education, housing, full employment, pensions, tax abolition, and more. Above all, however, it raised the cultural masses highly culturally and brought them up in the spirit of socialist collectivism and single-hearted unity so that the whole society could live - in the words of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung - as a great red family.

Thanks to the Juche Idea, Songun politics and great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, Korean socialism resisted all attempts at counter-revolution, overcame the period of the difficult march after the fall of the world socialist system, and was able to secure self-defense with the most powerful weapons. The former impoverished country, which did not have a single university under Japanese rule, became a highly technically advanced nuclear power.

Furious reactionaries are constantly spreading evil rumors about people's Korea, trying to demonize it while infiltrating bourgeois morality and a pernicious consumerist way of life, tearing the party away from the people and ultimately destroying the country's independence and turning it into a colony of imperialism whose citizens would be slaves in their own country. Class enemies are furious at the fact that there has been no opposition and no commotions in people's Korea for decades.

One of the heinous rumors is the claim that support for socialism in Korea is forced and feigned. Only a person who does not know and does not want to see the reality there or intentionally lies about it can claim this. Mass participation in political events can be forced, but not the enormous enthusiasm of the local people and their immense respect and admiration for their homeland, Party and great leaders. The enormous outrage with which the citizens of people's Korea value the doubts of some foreigners about these highest values of their revolution is not accidental.

Korean socialism is deeply international and supports the struggle of progressive people around the world for independence and social progress. An international meeting of communist and workers' parties was to be held in Pyongyang this year, which has unfortunately been thwarted by the coronavirus pandemic. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has devoted friends literally all over the world. Few countries boast such an extensive network of friendship organizations.

However, every Korean patriot and friend of Korea must be outraged by the actions of the south Korean human scum, causing confrontation with compatriots in the north and subordinating to the American occupiers. Provocative military exercises to practice aggressive war, the persecution of progressive ideas and their bearers in the occupied south and the abysmal social disparities of a country full of beggars, homeless people, overworked and unhappy people, immorality, decadent culture, prostitution and suicide are a true picture of capitalist hell on earth. Given the shameful intrigues of the puppet traitors, the enormous lifelong efforts of the great leaders for independent peaceful reunification, encouraged in recent years by the decisive initiative of the Respected Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un, have not yet been fulfilled.

People's Korea and her friends do not pretend that the country does not face any difficulties. On the contrary, the actions of the supreme party and state bodies boldly reveal many shortcomings and strongly call for and lead to their revolutionary correction. This year's mass aid of Pyongyang party officials and members in the flood and typhoon damaged countryside is an example of the strong unity of the Party and the people. Decisive anti-epidemic measures have prevented a catastrophic disaster from spreading coronavirus. While capitalist countries are now paying the price for imposing emergency measures late and inconsistently, tolerating widespread violations and often abolishing them early and irresponsibly, as we can see in the Czech example, Socialist Korea has not slowed down in the fight against this danger since February nor at the cost of long-term closed borders and loss of income from foreign tourism.

The celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea will have to take place without the participation of foreign friends. Even a large part of foreign celebrations will not be able to take place. All the more we should study the history and ideas of the Korean Revolution and strive to uplift the progressive movement in our own countries and around the world. Korea is not alone and fighting not only for itself, but for the interests of the proletariat of the whole world, to which it shines like a red lighthouse from the Far East.

Long live the glorious Workers' Party of Korea!

Long live the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism!

Long live the Respected Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un

The Great Workers’ Party of Korea – a Shining Example to the Socialist Movement of the World-contribution of Luka Niciforovic, Chairman of Serbia Korea Friendship Association to the International E Seminar

AS the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea approaches, the Korean people, and progressive people all over the world prepare to mark this momentous occasion and remember the exploits of the true peoples’ party that is the WPK.

The WPK, which is the organizer and guide of Korean working masses, has always fought to achieve the socialist ideal in the Korean revolution. Even in the early days when it was founded and in the programs of the predecessor party organizations organized by the President Kim Il Sung, the people-first principle has guided the socialist ideals of the Korean socialists, communists and patriots who fought to establish an independent socialist, workers’ state in the Korean peninsula.

The anti-Japanese guerillas, united around Comrade Kim Il Sung, with other young communists, socialists and patriots formed the Society for Rallying Comrades on July 3rd, Juche 19 (1930), when the first steps in establishing the Juche idea were first outlined. There, President Kim Il Sung indicated the path of the Korean revolution and stressed its originality and set necessary philosophical background to making a victory in the revolution.

The WPK today carries on the torch of the Juche idea as first outlined by the President, as the only way to ensure socialist construction and victory in the Korean revolution as was proven empirically throughout many decades of the Korean peoples’ many victories achieved in the socialist construction of their country.

After the DPRK was founded, the WPK has lead the Korean people through many different periods, and periods of turbulence in the world, and has always kept the stability of the Revolution and the flame of the Juche Idea burning. It organized the working masses and mobilized the people to socialist construction of a workers’ paradise.

The WPK set an example to the socialist camp in construction of a genuine Workers’ state, guided by the Juche idea, it materialized the philosophical outlook in the Korean society by organizing it accordingly and never once strayed away from its socialist path. The DPRK is today an exemplary genuine socialist, workers’ state thanks to the policies of the WPK and remains firmly on the path of socialism.

Being also the torchbearer of the Songun Idea and Songun politics, the WPK ensured independent Juche based army building which resulting in creating the largest military force in the world, the mighty Korean People’s Army, which defends the DPRK, the fortress of the people.

Built according to the Songun idea, which was developed to perfection by Chariman Kim Jong Il the KPA will surely annihilate and imperialist invaders that dare attempt a strike on the Headquarters of the Korean Revolution.

The WPK has introduced a number of policies ensuring that the armed forces of the DPRK are well equipped to deal with any dangerous situation, and has carried through the development of the nuclear deterrent program which has progressed far under the Revolutionary Leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The WPK always strived for world independence and peace, fulfilling its internationalist duty (as written about by Great Leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.. It aided peoples in their just anti-colonial struggles (eg. Zimbabwe, Vietnam…), aided countries in their own country building, and built friendly relations with countries not only in the socialist camp, but with all peace loving countries in the world through organizations like the Non-Aligned Movement.

When socialist countries collapsed in the 1990s, through policy of the WPK the DPRK salvaged the socialist ideal through showing a clear validity and vitality of the Juche-oriented theory of socialism, thus being at the forefront of defending socialism and independence in the world when the imperialist countries touted their victory over socialism and attempted to enslave all of the world peoples.

At this time, the WPK not only defended socialism by building a powerful socialist state despite the difficulties of the period, but also adopted the famous Pyongyang Declaration in 1992. with over 70 parties of the world entitled “Let us Defend and Advance the Cause of Socialism”. The WPK then, as it doesn’t now, didn’t allow for the Korean people to be made to kneel down and become a source of cheap labor for the imperialists.

And so, as we look back to the 75 years of existence of the Workers’ Party of Korea, we must keep in mind all of the work that it has done for peace, independence and the cause of socialism in the world. The progressive people of the world everywhere express gratefulness and celebrate the anniversary of the progressive force that the WPK has been, and still is, in the world.

They hold it in high-esteem as a model people-oriented party fighting for the cause of socialism, inspired by its red revolutionary banner glorified by the conjoint symbols of labor on it, the symbol of united struggle of working masses for peace, independence and socialism.

Long live the Workers Party of Korea, the shining example to the world socialist movement!

Long live the 75th anniversary of Party Founding

The DPRK: New Red Base of World Socialist Revolution- contribution of Jean-Claude Martini, Director of the Juche Idea Study Center of Italy to the International E Seminar

IN this significant yet complex and turbulent year we are going to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Our dear and esteemed Korean comrades are attaching great importance to it since the historical 5th Plenary Meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK, held on December 28-31, 2019. As respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

«This is an auspicious year for us, when we will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of our glorious Party. Already, the entire Party and the whole society, equipped with the ideas and spirit of the recent plenary meeting, are waging a massive struggle to implement the line of independent development and the relevant policies. They are doing so in the face of the harshest-ever circumstances, both internal and external.»

These 75 years elapsed from the birth of the Workers' Party of Korea, mother Party of all the Korean people, have been 75 years of victories and glory, as well as of struggle.

The Workers' Party of Korea had seen its birth amidst the flames of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and thanks to the correct, superior assimilation of the communist outlook on the world by President Kim Il Sung. It was a protracted process, unprecedented in the world history of party building: the WPK had in fact been born starting from the lower-echelons organizations and not from the Central Committee, as it has been for all other parties in the world.

Thus, the great leader set an example of struggle against dogmatism, as he did when reproaching the factionalists who strove for “hegemony” in the Korean communist movement while vying with each other in calling at the Comintern to receive “recognition”, or when he put down various proposals from his comrades to go studying in the Soviet Union. As he recalled in his first speech of the year 1988, titled, On Improving the Work of the Administration Council and Concentrating on the Five Major Economic Tasks:

«In the days of my early revolutionary activity, the Comintern and my comrades once requested me to go to the university in Moscow which was run by the Comintern. At that time the organization decided to send me to the Soviet Union for study, and prepared a suit, shoes, daily necessities and school things for me.

In fact, studying in the Soviet Union was a trend in those days among Korean communists who were active in Manchuria. Apparently my comrades had decided to send me abroad to study because they hoped that I would acquire rich knowledge in the Soviet Union and guide their activities better after returning. I told them: "I fully understand your wish to send me there to study. But in my opinion I cannot learn much in the Soviet Union.

I can learn the theory of socialism and communism as much as i want by reading the works of Marx and Lenin without having to go to the Soviet Union. What we must learn is the strategy and tactics of the Korean revolution, which we cannot learn in the Soviet Union. Our people know best about the Korean revolution. In order to find the correct strategy and tactics of the Korean revolution we must go among our own people. We should go among them and share weal and woe with them to find a way to accomplish the Korean revolution. Instead of going to the Soviet Union, I will go among our own people with you comrades to learn the theory and method of the Korean revolution."

Later I went among the people with my comrades. On looking back upon those days, it was really fortuitous that I went among the people and carried out the revolutionary struggle without going to the Soviet Union to study. Because we went among the people and waged the revolutionary struggle relying on them, we were able to build strong armed forces and liberate the country and, after liberation, we were able to maintain the line of independence in politics, self-reliance in the economy and national defence, without falling prey to flunkeyism and dogmatism.»

Notwithstanding this, the struggle to create and build the Workers' Party of Korea was all but smooth. Everyone who studied even a little bit the revolutionary history of Korea knows about the hard-fought struggle against the “Left” adventurist line of “anti-Minsaengdan warriors”, against the treacherous acts of the Pak Hon Yong clique and the historical struggles between the revolutionary and reactionary lines which took place in the WPK in the years 1956, 1967 and 2013, successfully concluded with the victory of the former. This made possible for the WPK to be the staunch bulwark both of socialist construction in the northern half of the Korean peninsula and for the revolutionaries in the south which found themselves exposed to the brutal, fascist repression by the US and their stooges, as well as for the south Korean revolution.

The development of the WPK knew a further heyday when leader Kim Jong Il began his work at the Central Committee on June 22, 1964. He was the inspirator of the monolithic ideological system which guaranteed the Party from the infiltration of alien ideologies other than the Juche idea, providing firm bases for the strict unity of the whole WPK around its leader and on the one and only basis constituted by the revolutionary ideas of President Kim Il Sung. As the dear leader correctly stated:

«The masses' cause of independence is the cause of the leader, the cause of the party. It is a historic cause that is carried through many generations. It is only when the working-class party firmly carries forward the ideas and guidance of the leader down through generations that it can invariably maintain its revolutionary character and appearance as a leading political organization and carry out its honourable mission.

If a party is to correctly carry forward the ideas and guidance of the leader, it must fully ensure the continuity of its own development. Otherwise, the line of the revolution discontinues, and renegades from the revolution appear to ruin the cause of the leader, the cause of the party. This is a serious lesson of history.»

Basing himself on these revolutionary principles, leader Kim Jong Il wholly inherited one of the main contribution made by President Kim Il Sung to revolutionary theory and practice: his correct solution of the issue of succession, which so many troubles caused in the leadership of a certain number of socialist countries. He demonstrated in words and action the most genuine loyalty to President Kim Il Sung, developing his revolutionary ideas in a complete, organical theoretical system which is Kimilsungism. He thus brought communist science onto a new, higher stage.

Holding up the red flag of Kimilsungism, leader Kim Jong Il led the whole party and the entire people of the DPRK in the complex historical period of the 1990s without the slightest wavering, without the minimum sign of vacillation. He brought up the DPRK to immediately take upon itself the role of red base of world revolution after the dissolution of the USSR: on April 20, 1992 the historical Pyongyang Declaration titled, Let Us Defend and Advance the Cause of Socialism, was officially adopted as new program for global independence and for socialism.

The enormous success of this initiative has been proved by the fact it has been signed by 305 Communist and Workers' Parties in the world, the last among them being the Communist Party of Denmark, which signed it on October 18, 2018. In Italy the only signatory, although if among the first ones, has been the Movement for Peace and Socialism.

This, however, has not been the only occasion in which the Workers' Party of Korea showed its sincere and deep internationalist outlook.

We all know how the WPK and the DPRK government provided political asylum and military training to the US Black Panthers Party and to the armies of many countries struggling for independence such as Syria, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe, semt volunteers to Vietnam, economic and military assistance to Syria and Libya, support for Hezbollah, how the DPRK furnished a fundamental economic and infrastructural assistance to such African countries such as Tanzania, Togo, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Madagascar, Benin, Zanzibar, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Lesotho and Burkina Faso. President Kim Il Sung, moreover, gave historical advices to leaders of European parties such as the Communist Party of Portugal, the Left Party – Communists of Sweden, the Labour Party of Switzerland, the Labour Party of Ireland and the Workers' Party of Belgium; he poured all his efforts for the strengthening and unity of the international communist movement under the banners of Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism, playing a major role in the worldwide struggle against revisionism but avoiding to break up the workers' movement broadening the differences of view to the relationship between parties and states.

That intuition by the great leader has been proved totally right by facts and history: he never sacrificed his country's and WPK's independence to side with one or another between the parties in conflict but elaborated a common platform on which to unite all socialist countries: 1) oppose imperialism; 2) support the national-liberation movement and 3) do not interfere in the internal affairs of fraternal parties and countries. The comprehensive analysis he and leader Kim Jong Il provided about the collapsing of a certain number of socialist countries and about modern revisionism is still today a great contribution of them to the defence of socialism and communism, both in theory and in practice.

The principled attitude and stand retained by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il allowed the DPRK mantain its existence, not following in the footsteps of other socialist countries who were absorbed into capitalism by the imperialist burgeoisie. In the Korean peninsula, it is in fact the DPRK which always led the play, forcing US imperialists and the south Korean stooges to chase it. We have seen this already since the July 4 North-South Declaration in 1972, but also with the 1991 Agreement on Reconciliation, Non-Aggression, Exchange and Cooperation, the June 15 Joint Declaration in 2000, the October 4 Joint Declaration in 2007 and the shining victories registered in the year 2018 under the leadership of respected Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un, marked by the successful five inter-Korean summits with the adoption of the Panmunjom Declration and the Pyongyang September Joint Declaration.

The US imperialists themselves have being suffered utter defeats in their long-standing confrontation with the DPRK: here we remember only the capturing of the USS Pueblo (1968), the Panmunjom Incident (1976) which resulted in the death of two American aggressors, the shooting down of the US Army CH-47 Chinook (1977) and of the OH-58 Kiowa helicopters (1994), not forgetting the fact that in 2003 four DPRK fighter jets intercepted a US reconnaissance plane over the West Sea of Korea.

Indeed, no country in the world has ever scored so much victories in a historical showdown with the US. This has concretely shown to the world that big powers does not always gain the upper hand and that it is perfectly possible, for small countries, to win victories against them when they are armed with a progressive, revolutionary ideology and are led by a corageous, independent and sovereign government which is decided to uphold the dignity of the nation.

This is precisely the case of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which has at its helm the heroic Workers' Party of Korea led by the peerless great persons of Mt. Paektu and the immortal revolutionary ideas of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism. This has been the key to victory for the DPRK, which materialized itself in the building of the most powerful military and nuclear deterrent force which saw its peak with the successful test-launch of the ICBM Hwasong-15 on November 28, 2017.

Imperialists, and particularly the US, are coward enough not to attack countries which could respond in an equally destructive way to their provocations: this is the lesson finally understood by socialist Korea from the pitiable destiny of those countries, like Iraq and Libya, who made the tragic mistake of placing trust in the “promises” by imperialism about “prosperity” and “re-integration in the international community”. As respected Comrade Kim Jong Un recently pointed out:

«With the spirit and will of victory brought about by the immortal July 27, we chose on our own accord the arduous road of strengthening the national power, looking towards a bright future of our state, and have never changed our choice, tightening our belts, when others were vying with one another for the pursuit of immediate "prosperity."»

Reality has already proved the justness and correctness of this strategic choice made by the DPRK long ago. The DPRK has reliably defended peace not only in the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of Asia, but in the whole world as well.

This principled policy of the WPK bore its fruits also on the internal front: People's Korea was among the very first countries in Asia who lawfully recognized sex equality and adopted an advanced, progressive labor legislation, granting every citizen free housing, education and healthcare service even in the darkest days of the Fatherland Liberation War and in the grim period of the Arduous and Forced March in the 1990s. The DPRK was also the first country completing socialist transformation of the production relations (1958) and the only one, in today's world, being completely tax-free (since 1974).

It has a strong Sci-Tech power thanks to the keen interest shown in IT by General Kim Jong Il, who directly led the introduction in the country of the CNC machines. He enriched the treasure of communist science with such masterpieces as On Improving the Training of Computer Specialists, The 21st Century, A New Century, is an IT Era, Kim Chaek University of Technology is a Powerful Base of Our Country for Training Talented People in Science and Technology and others.

This works by him are priceless ideological goods which set a new revolutionary programme of establishing science and technology as a strategy of development for the DPRK, and at the same time have qualitatively upgraded the revolutionary theory, thus overcoming other limitations of Marxism-Leninism, the main ones of its having already been analyzed and overcome in other masterworks such as On Some Problems Posed by the Evaluation of Past Theories, The Leader of the Working Class Plays a Decisive Role in the Revolutionary Struggle, A New Era Requires a New Idea, On Correctly Analyzing and Reviewing the History of the Preceding Revolutionary Ideology of the Working Class, On Correctly Understanding Kimilsungism, On the Juche Idea, On Having a Correct Viewpoint and Understanding of the Juche Philosophy, Socialism Is a Science, The Songun-Based Revolutionary Line Is a Great Revolutionary Line of Our Era and an Ever-Victorious Banner of Our Revolution and others. He critically analyzed and defended the legacy of the first socialist countries in such de facto revolutionary manifestos as On Some Problems of the Ideological Foundation of Socialism, Socialism Is the Lifeline of Our People, Abuses of Socialism are Intolerable, Giving Priority to Ideological Work Is Essential For Accomplishing Socialism, and others.

Today, socialist Korea dashes forward decisively, upholding the red banner of revolution, socialism and Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism more firmly than ever. Under the wise leadership of respected Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un, the militant activity of the Workers' Party of Korea is knowing a new heyday: this year alone, there have been 6 sessions of the Political Bureau of the WPK (3 of which enlarged, 1 called as an emergency meeting), 1 enlarged meeting of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and 1 plenary meeting of the Central Committee.

On the occasion of the latter, the decision has been taken to convene the 8th Party Congress next January 2021. It is worth mentioning, also, that in all these meetings a sharp critics of all shortcomings and mistakes has been thoroughly made by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un: this shows the renewed vitality of the WPK which is advancing along the revolutionary road of Juche with bigger leaps, towards modelling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

The DPRK has completely changed, time and again, its wonderful appearance throughout the 2010s. Under the personal guidance of respected Comrade Supreme Leader, many projects have been undertaken and completed, such as Mirae Scientists Street, Changjon Street, Ryomyong Street, the new terminal of the Pyongyang International Airport, the Jungphyong Vegetable Greenhouse Farm, the renewal of Pyongyang Metro and trolleybuses and of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, the Yangdok Hot Spring Resort, the construction of Samjiyon City, the Pyongyang Mushroom Farm and the Sunchon Phosphate Fertilizer Factory, among others. Now we are witnessing the speed-up construction of the Pyongyang General Hospital, started among the snowstorm of the COVID-19 pandemic and the unexpected trials related to it. This colossal work will add ever more brilliance to the 75th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

I cannot wait for the celebration of this august event, and even more for the opening, development and sure victory of the historical 8th National Congress of the WPK.

75th Founding Anniversary of the Workers Party of Korea -contribution of Alejandro Cao de Benós, President of Korean Friendship Association (KFA) to the International E Seminar

THE Korean Friendship Association (KFA), represented worldwide by its International Organization Committee, warmly congratulates the glorious 75th Founding Anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea!!

Having emerged in the vanguard of the Korean revolution in the worst days of Japanese occupation, President Kim Il Sung gave the directions for the Korean revolution. In order to conduct the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle by relying on the masses, he formed the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU), an underground revolutionary organization, on October 17, 1926. The formation of the DIU was the beginning of a new era in Korea.

In the Kalun meeting in 1930, President Kim Il Sung established the way of founding a party according to the situation of Korea. At that time most of the communists in the country were servants of other nations, and their parties were immersed in continuous factionalism, until the point that it was impossible to found a revolutionary party in the way of rebuilding any of the defunct ones.

On the basis of the successes and experiences gained during the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, our Great Leader Kim Il Sung formed the Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of North Korea on October 10, 1945.

The objective was to create a big organization that will fully integrate all people and making them an active part in the shape of the new nation, in that sense he set forth the organizational line of building it into a mass-based one, and in August 1946 the Communist Party became the Workers’ Party, a unified party of the working masses.

Thanks to the WPK’s leadership, the agricultural cooperativization movement was brought to completion in a short period of five years. It also organized and led the socialist transformation of private commerce and industry, thus realizing successfully their socialist transformation. As the socialist transformation of the outdated relations of production had been completed in the urban and rural areas, the socialist system was established in Korea in 1958.

Kim Il Sung was the founder of the WPK, the eternal leader of the WPK and the Korean people. He authored the immortal Juche idea, a political masterpiece that grows in importance internationally after the disappearance of other socialist countries and political theories.

He developed the WPK into a party that is united ideologically, with a high sense of organization and discipline, a party that enjoys absolute support and trust of the masses of the people, and into an invincible party that steadfastly carries forward the lineage of the Juche revolution.

The strategic creation of the WPK made possible the miracle of building in Korea a people- centred socialist state that is independent in politics, self-sufficient in the economy and self- reliant in national defence.

A party without a leader has no options to survive. Leadership is essential for the continuation of any project, but Korea had the fortune of having Generalissimo Kim Jong Il, who took the responsibility to continue shaping the new Republic.

He developed the Juche idea and the Songun politics into great guiding principles of the era of independence, and built the WPK into a body ideologically pure and organizationally integrated, a body which is fully equipped with a monolithic ideological system and a unified leadership system. He also built it into a motherly party that has formed a harmonious organizations that takes care of the people and their destiny with responsibility.

Contrary to many political parties that were created for the intention of private benefit of its members, the ultimate goal of the WPK is to completely realize the independence of the masses of the people by modeling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, and its supreme principle is to steadily improve the people’s standard of living.

The revolution leaded by the WPK continues in today's Korea. Implementing the Three Revolutions after the triumph of the socialist revolution and establishment of the socialist system in Korea, the WPK defined the three revolutions –ideological, technological and cultural– as the main contents of the revolution to be waged in socialist society, as the task of continuous revolution. In waging the three revolutions, it has adhered to the principle of giving definite precedence to the ideological revolution and pushing ahead with the technological and cultural revolutions dynamically.

Now, with the leadership of our Marshal Kim Jong Un, who forced the U.S. Empire to change their plans of invasion for the negotiating table, the Korean people are advancing to achieve the complete victory of socialism under the unfurled banner of the three revolutions.

As long as the Worker's Party of Korea has its father, Marshal Kim Jong Un, and its child, the Korean people, all enemies will be defeated and the future for Korea will always be bright.

The Great Leader Kim Il Sung and Beloved General Kim Jong Il will always be withs us!! Long Live Marshal Kim Jong Un!! Long Live the Workers' Party of Korea!

75th Anniversary of the Workers Party of Korea - contribution of Chairman Juche Idea Study Group of Ireland and KFA Ireland to the International E Seminar

 DEAR Comrades,

It’s a pleasure to submit this piece on behalf of the Juche Idea Study Group of Ireland in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Workers Party of Korea.

The Workers Party of Korea is a unique party for the people by the people which is what the world should aspire to achieve. Great Comrades KIM IL SUNG and KIM JONG IL firmly laid the foundations of the Party devoting their lives to it and to the masses.

To understand the Workers Party of Korea you have to go back to the days when Koreans were held hostage by the Japanese imperialists. Comrade KIM IL SUNG a young revolutionary had to deal with the many factions which had dogmatic flunkeyism ways about them.

Ultimately with the intentions of Comrade KIM IL SUNG a true revolutionary did not need to be recognised by the world for attending the Communist International. To quote President KIM IL SUNG “If one conducts the revolutionary movement well, one will be recognized by others without going to all the trouble of asking for their recognition. Is a Communist Party regarded as such only when it has obtained the recognition of other people? We need not get approval of others before starting our revolutionary movement. We carry it out if we want to. When we do so properly, what does it matter whether others give us approval or not? As long as we make revolution well, others will give us recognition naturally.”

On that day the 10th October 1945 (Juche 34) when the glorious Workers Party of Korea was founded. The Korean people no longer had to worry or be afraid for the future. The Party and the people become one large unified mass. They had created their own destiny and that destiny is what we see today in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea under the leadership of Respected Supreme Leader Marshal KIM JONG UN. A country full of rich culture, values, proletarian power, anti imperialist and most importantly a self sufficient country which has a high standard of living opposed to capitalist countries around the world.

With this small extract it is very clear that the future WPK became a real party for the people to this very day and for many years to come! Great Comrade KIM JONG IL in the year 1964 (Juche 53) started his work at the Central Committee of the WPK as a young man wholeheartedly devoting his life to the Party and people of Korea. He further strengthened the unity of the Party and people by giving on-site guidance to the Arts, Literature and Press sectors to ensure that the Party and the revolution was being carried out. This is one of the countless many successes of a great Party and unity.

Throughout the years the Party and the people have faced many testing times but the strength of the unity between the Party and people they have always, and will continue to stand proudly on their two feet ready to defend the Party.

Respected Supreme Leader Marshal KIM JONG UN is continuing this long and proud work of the Party. In Korea today we see a country which is united stronger than any other force in our existence as human beings.

The Workers Party and Respected Supreme Leader Marshal KIM JONG UN is working tirelessly for the people! Living conditions continue to rise which further strengthens the unity between the Party and people. The western world should follow by the great example of the Workers Party of Korea, Respected Supreme Leader Marshal KIM JONG UN.

We wish all our Comrades in Korea and around the world good health, good success and happiness during these very testing times.

We wish all our Comrades in Korea and around the world a very happy glorious 75th Anniversary of the Workers Party of Korea.

LONG LIVE THE WORKERS PARTY OF KOREA

LONG LIVE THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF KOREA

The Workers’ Party Of Korea Defends And Protects The Korean Nation’s Independence contribution Martin Lötscher, President of the Swiss Korea Committee (KFA Switzerland) to the International E Seminar

75 years ago, on October 10, Juche 34 (1945), the great Leader Comrade KIM IL SUNG founded the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

With the foundation of the WPK President KIM IL SUNG gave the Korean people the powerful general staff for building the new democratic Korea.

Three years later, on September 9, Juche 37 (1948), President KIM IL SUNG founded the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) as the first free, independent and democratic state of the Korean nation.

Under the leadership of the WPK socialism was built in the DPRK.

President KIM IL SUNG built the people-centered Juche-based socialist paradise in which health care, education and housing are totally free and later also the taxes were abolished.

Of course, these great and unique feats and achievements had to be defended and protected against the aggressive moves and attempts of the imperialists and reactionaries who wanted to stifle the young DPRK in its cradle.

The WPK became the strong defender and protector of the Korean nation's independence.

The great Generalissimo KIM IL SUNG led the Fatherland Liberation War to victory and forced the US imperialist aggressors and their 15 satellite armies to knee.

Under the leadership of the great WPK, Korea was the first nation on earth which won a victory over the "strongest super-power", the United States!

This historic victory was achieved thanks to the great Generalissimo KIM IL SUNG who made of the WPK the mother-party. The entire people is single-mindedly united around the leader and the party.

No force on earth, how "powerful" it might be, can destroy the unique steel-like unity of the Korean people around its great leaders and the partry.

After the tragic demise of President KIM IL SUNG on July 8, Juche 83 (1994), the great Leader Comrade KIM JONG IL took the helm of the party, the state and the armed forces and transformed the DPRK into the invincible bulwark and citadel of world socialism.

Guided by the WPK, socialist Korea withstood victoriously the collapse of socialism in central and eastern Europe as well in the Soviet Union. The imperialists and reactionaries failed totally in their aggressive move to stifle socialist Korea!

Under the leadership of Generalissimo KIM JONG IL the DPRK became a space power and a nuclear weapon state!

Today it is the respected Supreme Leader Comrade KIM JONG UN who is on the helm of the party, the state and the armed forces.

In all these glorious decades since its foundation the WPK, guided by President KIM IL SUNG, General Secretary KIM JONG IL and Chairman KIM JONG UN, defended and protected the Korean nation's indepence.

It also achieved spectacular exploits on the way of the struggle for Korea's independent and peaceful reunification.

For all these great historic feats, the WPK enjoys also the respect, admiration and support of the whole progressive mankind.

The WPK is the creator of the people's happiness. It made of socialist Korea the people's paradise, guided by its great leaders' maxime The People are my God!

The Korean people will celebrate proudly the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the WPK!

And the world progressives congratulate it wholeheartedly.

Glory to the great Workers' Party of Korea!

Glory to its great Leaders - President KIM IL SUNG, General Secretary KIM JONG IL and respected Chairman KIM JONG UN!

Martin Lötscher,

President of the Swiss Organizing Committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt. Paektu,

President of the Swiss Korea Committee (KFA Switzerland),

President of the Swiss Juche Idea Study Group

75 Years of the Great Party - contribution of Comrade Shaun Pickford, Chairman of Staffordshire UK KFA Branch and British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea to International E Seminar

THE Workers' Party of Korea has reached seventy-five years in its existence as the leading party of the Korean people. Over the course of seven decades, the WPK has shown its durability as a political force due to it's being based on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism. Although the WPK was founded on October 10th, 1945, the party has its historical roots going back to the 1920s. As a consequence of the Great October Socialist Revolution of 1917 in Russia, many Marxist-Leninist groups were organised in Pyongyang, Seoul and other places in Korea.

The activities for the propagation of Marxism-Leninism was severely restricted by the Japanese Imperialists, Korea at the time was a colony of Japan (1910-1945). Many progressive patriots became Communists and undertook the road of revolution. The Communist Party of Korea was founded in April 1925. From the first day of its foundation, the Korean Communist Party was riddled with factionalism and sectarianism, which had no real connection with the rank and file of the Korean working masses. There were groups such as the "M-L Group", the "North Wind Association" and the "Tuesday Group", which eventually destroyed the Korean Communist Party. After much division and factionalism, the KCP was dissolved by the decision of the Communist International in 1928.

A new generation of revolutionaries centred around Kim IL Sung put the Korean Communist Movement onto a different course, away from the factionalism and flunkeyism of the KCP. Kim IL Sung and his comrades' setup The Down-With Imperialism Union on October 17th, 1926. The formation of the DIU was a declaration of a new start for the advancement of the Korean revolution. At the base of the DIU's programme was the principle of independence. which became the bedrock in the building of the Workers' Party of Korea. Kim IL Sung formulated the methodology of party building amidst the flames of the Korean people's national liberation struggle at the Kalun Meeting in June 1930.

At the Kalun Meeting Kim IL Sung announced the principles of the Juche Idea in conformity with the demands of the era. The positions put forward taken by Kim IL Sung in party building were unique, to establish the grassroots' organisations first, instead of proclaiming the formation of the party. By having this approach in the construction of the revolutionary party, it avoided all the false starts made previously. The first party organisation to be formed by Kim IL Sung was in Kalun on July 3rd, 1930 under the title "The Society For Rallying Comrades" and it had the slogan "With One Ideology & Will!".

Kim IL Sung actively promoted the establishment of a system which provided unified guidance to the party organisations. A very creative aspect of party building proposed by Kim IL Sung was to align the task of party construction with the fight against Japanese imperialism. Having the combination of the efforts for party building and the Anti-Japanese Revolutionary struggle made it possible to promote the political awareness and the organisational will of the masses. Party organisations had become embedded within the Anti-Japanese Peoples Guerilla Army which later was known as the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and the KPRA Party Committee was organised so as to coordinate party work at the forefront of the class and the national liberation struggle. Party organisations had sprung up in many parts of Korea, Manchuria and mainland China.

After Korea's liberation in August 1945, the founding of a party was an urgent necessity for the Korean Communists. Kim IL Sung's strategy of making the preparations for a revolutionary party had paid off. An inaugural congress of the Communist Party of North Korea was held in Pyongyang on 10th October to 13th October 1945. The first-ever congress of the Juche based Communist Party was attended by Anti-Japanese veterans, workers, peasants and intellectuals. The struggle to build up the new party after liberation was conducted in difficult circumstances when the Korean peninsula had just been divided between the north and south by the US imperialists. As the newly founded Communist Party was being strengthened in the period of the Democratic Revolution, Kim IL Sung wanted to push ahead with having a unified party of the working masses.

The prevailing situation demanded that the Communist Party transform itself into a powerful force which would cement the alliance of the workers, the peasants and the intellectuals. In the interests of the Korean revolution, it was vital to unite the anti-imperialist forces in the forms of the Communist Party, the New Democratic Party and the Peoples Party. The Workers' Party of Korea appeared on the historical arena at the congress held on August 28th, 1946. Two years later the Workers' Parties of north and south Korea merged into one party.

At the time of the Fatherland Liberation War (the Korean War 1950-53) the Workers' Party of Korea provided the ideological and organisational leadership of the Korean People's Army. In October 1950, a decision was made on the formation of party organisations within the KPA. Kim IL Sung ensured the leading role of the WPK in the battles to defeat US Imperialism in the frontline and the rear, and thus gaining the epochal victory of July 27th, 1953 over the forces of aggression.

Kim IL Sung set forth the strategic policy of converting society to the Juche Idea and put the task of stepping up the transformation of the whole party after the ideology and practice of Juche. So as to win the complete victory of socialism, Kim IL Sung set out the path of working-classization, revolutionization and the intellectualization of society. The three revolutions, the ideological, technical and cultural  ensured the consolidation and the growth of socialism within the DPRK and increased the role of the WPK in all areas of activity.

On June 19th, 1964 Kim Jong IL began work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. Kim Jong IL consistently emphasised on enhancing the leading role of the WPK in the Korean revolution. Under Kim Jong IL's guidance, the WPK was developed into the party of Kim IL Sung, forever upholding the Juche Idea as its guiding ideology. On February 19th, 1974, Kim Jong IL launched the programme of transforming the entire society on the Juche Idea in a robust and systematic manner.

The WPK was to be in the lead in seizing the ideological and material fortresses in the building of socialism in the course of training all members of society into the Juche type revolutionaries. In effect, with socialist ideology, socialist morality and socialist culture it is possible to mould man, the master of everything, into the independent subject of social, technical and natural endeavours.

The Korean people began to regard the WPK as the motherly party out of the trust in and respect for the party. In its day to day activities, the WPK works tirelessly for the good of the people, putting their interests above everything else. Workers' Parties in other countries are usually called vanguard parties, but it is only the WPK which has the title been given to it by the rank and file people of being the motherly party. This was entirely attributable to the leadership of Kim Jong IL that the Workers' Party of Korea enjoys such a high reputation among the working masses, a motherly party devoted to the good of the people. Kim Jong IL over the course of his supervision developed the concept of the politics of love and trust, meaning the people's aspirations always came first in every policy decision of the WPK.

Kim Jong IL devoted many of his theoretical works to the issues of party building. In his works, Kim Jong Il dealt with the questions of how to construct a working-class party loyal to the leader of the revolution and to the independent ideology, while administering a socialist society, in a novel and original way. Among the celebrated works of Kim Jong IL on party building were such works as "The Workers' Party of Korea Is A Juche-Type Revolutionary Party Which Inherits The Glorious Traditions of the DIU", "The Historical Lesson In Building Socialism & The General Line of Our Party" and "The Fundamentals of Revolutionary Party Building".

Kim Jong IL exerted great efforts in the theoretical education in the Juche Idea among the WPK members and firmly maintained the Juche orientated view concerning the role of the party in a socialist society. Kim Jong IL's vast contributions to the development of the WPK over many decades were acknowledged in the election of Comrade Kim Jong IL as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on October 9th, 1997. The name and deeds of the Great Kim Jong IL were always associated with the motherly party of Juche, the Workers Party of Korea, so after Kim Jong IL passed away in December 2011, Kim Jong IL was named by the will of the party members and the working people the Eternal General Secretary of the WPK.

Ever since the appearance of modern revisionism in sections of the International Communist Movement after 1956, the Workers' Party of Korea has waged a consistent and militant struggle against right and left-wing opportunism. The leaders of the WPK, Kim IL Sung, Kim Jong IL  and Kim Jong Un have exposed the poisonous influence of revisionism in their writings and analysed the causes and effects of revisionist tendencies. On the international arena, the WPK has battled the ideology and practice of revisionism in a principled and yet innovative manner, without falling into the dead-end of left opportunism like some other parties.

In the past, the revisionist cliques were revealed in time within the ranks of the WPK such as the Pak Hun Li - Sung Yop gang and the Jang Song Thaek group. The WPK is rightfully considered by the revolutionary people of the world as the model socialist party, an example of militant anti-revisionism and anti-dogmatism, a party which is true to its revolutionary principles.

The Workers' Party of Korea performed one of the greatest services for the unity of the international progressive forces by putting forward "Let Us Defend & Advance The Cause of Socialism" on April 20th, 1992. The Pyongyang Declaration made an overall investigation for the reasons for the frustration of socialism in the former USSR and the ex-socialist countries of Eastern Europe. In The Pyongyang Declaration, a strong affirmation was stated in the values of socialism and in the superiority and justness of the socialism system over capitalism. With the adoption of "Let's Us Defend & Advance The Cause of Socialism" in April 1992, the Pyongyang Declaration became a rallying cry for the Communist and Workers' Parties and the National Liberation Movements throughout the world to unite and resist the forces of imperialism.

In the 1990s many delegations from the Communist and Workers' Parties of different countries visited Pyongyang to witness the flourishing socialism of the Juche style in the DPRK and to strive together with the WPK for the common cause of human emancipation. Well over 300 parties and movements have already signed The Pyongyang Declaration, this document continues to inspire the faith and will of the progressive peoples of the world in socialism and liberation. It was attributable to the initiatives of Kim IL Sung and of Kim Jong IL that the Pyongyang Declaration was conceived, thus salvaging the International Revolutionary Movement from the consequences of the counter-revolutions of 1989-1991, thus putting the global socialist forces on a new and more confident footing. Internationalism and anti-imperialism remain as the bedrock of the Workers' Party of Korea's activities during the 75 years of its existence.

The WPK has had vigorous bilateral relations with various Communist and Workers' parties and displays the principles of mutual respect and independence in its relationships with the fraternal parties, delegations from the WPK have regularly attended conferences held by both individual Communist Parties and the International Communist Movement. As part of its internationalism, the WPK has always sought to overcome the divisions encountered within the revolutionary parties and movements and press for maximum unity against imperialism, dominationism and modern revisionism.

Kim Jong Un, the great successor to the revolutionary cause of Kim IL Sung and of Kim Jong IL formulated the ideology of the Workers' Party of Korea as Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism. The Workers' Party of Korea under Kim Jong Un's stewardship has transformed its theory and practice after the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist ideology in all areas of its activity in recent years. At the core of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is the fundamental principle of the methods and idea of Juche, that is of the people-first doctrine. In essence, KimIlsungism-Kimjongilism is the people-centred ideology which regards the popular masses as the most precious and powerful beings in existence.

The general goal of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is to realise the independent desire of the people and make them the masters of the world and put everything at their service. Placing the popular masses at the forefront of the party and state affairs Kim Jong Un presents a grand blueprint for the triumph of socialism and the DPRK Supreme Leader makes every effort day and night so that the Korean people can enjoy all the material and cultural benefits of the Juche orientated socialist system. No other political leader on the international stage works so tirelessly for the well being of the rank and file citizenry as Kim Jong Un does.

At every opportunity, Kim Jong Un stresses to the party officials and members that they must consider the interests of the people as their first and absolute priority, undergoing all hardships and sacrifices for the good of the working masses. Kim Jong Un's conception of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism has illuminated the path to firmly rally the popular masses, the subject of history and has consolidated the national strength of the DPRK in every possible way. The Korean people have been mobilized by the WPK  into building a socialist power in the DPRK in a brief period of time. It can be observed that under the leadership of Kim Jong Un and the guidance of the WPK, now the DPRK has been positioned into being an independent, self-reliant and self-defensive socialist country without suffering any adverse effects from the vicious isolation and suffocation moves made by imperialism.

In early May 2016, the Workers Party of Korea convened its Seventh Congress in Pyongyang, the capital of the Korean revolution.  The congress became a watershed moment in the implementation of the Juche cause in the conditions of the 21st century and reflected on the progress gained by the party in the revolution and construction under the wise and benevolent leadership of the Great Kim IL Sung and the Great Kim Jong IL.

In the runup to the 7th Party Congress, a 70 Day Campaign was conducted by the working people of Socialist Korea. Production targets and norms at various enterprises were exceeded by over 111 per cent in output. Kim Jong Un delivered the Report to the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea on May 6 - 7th, 2016, which galvanized the party and people of the DPRK into action and amazed the world public opinion with its ambitious programme. The WPK 7th Congress was where the strategic line of placing the national economy on a Juche based, modern and scientific orientation and the 10 long term objectives for socialist economic construction were set. At the congress, significant progress was noted in the build-up of the military forces, particularly the nuclear deterrent, protecting the country from aggression. The 7th congress was marked with the dynamism characteristic of the leadership of the WPK's Chairman Kim Jong Un.

Kim Jong Un is striving always for the improvements in the work of the Workers' Party of Kore so as to achieve the ultimate victory of socialism in the DPRK.  The 5th plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea which was held from December 28th to December 31st, 2019 set the tone for the subtenant intensification of activities and the redoubling of work for the party in the 2020s. Kim Jong Un advanced the revolutionary line on launching an offensive for a decisive breakthrough as required by the prevailing conditions.

At the 5th plenary meeting, the necessity was emphasised for the development of the ultra-modern military science and to greatly enhance the national power of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in light of the double-dealing manoeuvres of the imperialist allied forces. The key front in the offensive for the breakthrough required said Kim Jong Un at the December 2019 WPK plenary meeting was at the economic sector, setting forth to fully tap all the potentialities of the socialist economy in a more productive manner. Administrative and organisational matters within the structure of the party were to be reorganised more efficiently to suit the needs of the Korean Revolution.

In this atmosphere of heightened activity for the cadres and members of the Workers' Party of Korea, several plenary sessions of the Central Committee of the party and meetings of the Political Bureau of the CC WPK have been conducted throughout the year of 2020. A decision was adopted by the 6th plenary meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to hold the 8th Congress of the WPK in January 2021.

Kim Jong Un declared at the 6th plenary meeting of the WPK Central Committee that the 8th Congress of the party should become the Congress of Struggle, the Working Congress. The 8th Congress of the WPK will outline the new 5 Year Plan and will be taking recitative measures in order to make progress in developing Korean style socialism further and in strengthening the WPK. Looking forward to the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea scheduled for January 2021 all the party membership and the working people of the DPRK will be performing heroic feats of labour with the highest political awareness and ideological determination.

As the Workers' Party of Korea approaches the 75th anniversary of its foundation, the party has much to be proud of in its history and alot to look forward to in the party's future. While some other Communist and Workers' Parties have gone to the wall or compromised their guiding ideology, the WPK has remained steadfast in its faith and principles. The flame which was lit by Kim IL Sung on October 17th, 1926 in Huadian, Manchuria with the formation of The Down With Imperialism Union shines brightly in the ideology and practice of the Workers' Party of Korea.

For the WPK solves all the problems arising on the inexhaustible strength of the people in every kind of circumstances. The priority of the WPK has been to take on the responsibility for the political, cultural and material integrity of the working masses without fail. The Great Leader President Kim IL Sung founded the Workers' Party of Korea, the Great Leader Chairman Kim Jong IL consolidated the WPK and the Dear Respected Marshal Kim Jong Un has developed the WPK into the formidable party of Juche trusted and loved by the people.

I hope that in this essay I have been to give a flavour of the epic saga of the Workers' Party of Korea's history and of course it is not possible to review everything from the annals of such a great party as the WPK. Only victory and glory are in store for the Workers' Party of Korea, the invincible party of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism!

The Workers’ Party of Korea Shines With Independence!-contribution of Dr Dermot Hudson, Chairman UK Korean Friendship Association to the International E Seminar

THIS is a significant year for the Korean people and world progressives because on the 10th of October  the Workers’ Party of Korea will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its foundation by the great leader President KIM IL SUNG , the sun of Juche .It is also a year in which the Korean people celebrate the 75th anniversary of liberation from Japanese imperialist rule and the 60th anniversary of the start of the Songun-based revolutionary leadership.

Throughout its history the Workers' Party of Korea has not only blazed a trail of intense struggle for independence that was marked by a many glorious victories.Throughout its existence it has been led and guided by the great leaders comrade KIM IL SUNG , KIM JONG IL and the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN.

The basis of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK ) is independence  and it is guided by the Juche idea . The WPK was founded independently in a different way to the other communist and workers parties . The foundation of the WPK was a process rather than a single act.

The roots of the WPK are in the anti-Japanese revolutionary armed struggle led by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG. The first communist revolutionary organisation in Korea was the Down with Imperialism Union which the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG established with a small but determined band of followers , young people who were untainted by the muddy currents of factionalism, flunkeyism(the ideology of fawning on big powers and other outside forces) and opportunism . The DIU organically combined the tasks of class and national liberation.

Comrade KIM IL SUNG rallied the adherents of the DIU with the following words, “Irreconcilable contradictions exist between the imperialists and people in the colonies  and these contradictions are sharpening  with the passage of time. Because these contradictions are antagonistic they cannot be settled by any kind of 'compromise ' and will only be solved when imperialism is overthrown..The formation of the Down with Imperialism Union is a declaration of a decisive to destroy Japanese imperialism and of confrontation with imperialism worldwide”.

The first party organisation , the Society For Rallying Comrades was formed on the 3rd of July 1930 .Later  a Homeland Party Working Committee came into being.   Party organisations  were also formed within the Association For the Restoration of the Fatherland ( an anti-imperialist united front body set  up in 1936) and the Korean National Liberation  Union ( a lower level organisation of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland  organised within the Korean homeland) . The long and arduous road of the struggle to found the party  finally came to a conclusion on the 10th of October 1945 when the WPK was founded as the Communist Party of north Korea.

The WPK represents the workers, peasants and working intellectuals- it includes the writing bush in its party symbol to represent the intellectuals in addition to hammer for the industrial workers and sickle for farm workers. The WPK has always strived to unite the popular masses around it. Today the DPRK led by the WPK under the guidance of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN is known as the most stable , united and harmonious society in the world. The people and the party, the WPK,are welded into a unbreakable steel-like  unity.People are united around the leader and party.  In fact the leader, party and masses form a trinity.

The WPK led by President KIM IL SUNG , Chairman KIM JONG IL and Marshal KIM JONG has always maintained independence . It has thwarted all attempts   to dominate and enslave the Korean people no matter which direction these came . The WPK led the Korean people to build a people-centred socialist country of Juche defying the sanctions and the blockades of the imperialists . At the same time  the WPK defeated the moves of the big-power chauvinists to put pressure on the DPRK . Those who wanted to follow and imitate big countries were given no room in the WPK as President KIM IL SUNG firmly established Juche.

Independent and Juche-orientated lines on the building of socialism were put forward and put into effect by the WPK under the leadership of President KIM IL SUNG . The DPRK carried out socialist transformation in its own unique way not copying other countries.

The DPRK did not bow down and join the CMEA of the big-power chauvinists and revisionists but pursued the audacious and bold line of building an independent national economy based on self-reliance. Later comrade KIM JONG IL proclaimed ‘ Let Us Live our own way!“

Thanks to the line of economic independence and self-reliance of the WPK the Korean people not only defied the sanctions of the imperialists but built Juche socialism at a stunning rate ; for example in the late 1950s the growth in industrial output value hit 40 per cent in one year . Under the leadership of the WPK an advanced socialist system centred on the popular masses was created . The Korean people enjoy the rights to work , to free education , to free medical care , to housing and to rest. Taxation was abolished in 1974, a socialist paradise indeed!

The WPK has implemented the line of self-reliance in defence and the idea of Songun  as a result the DPRK is a socialist military power of Juche , a nuclear power and a member of the ICBM club . In the past Korea could not defend itself from the avaricious Japanese imperialists because it only had primitive rifles but now it has its own nukes and ICBMs.

Under the leadership of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN the WPK is holding fast to the line of independence and self-reliance . The DPRK rejected the so-called ‘Libyan model’ of one-sided unilateral nuclear disarmament . They have not given up a single nuke or ICBM . The Korean people are rallying around supreme leader Marshal KIM JONG UN and the WPK building socialism in the spirit of self-reliance smashing the sanctions of the US imperialist with new feats of labour each , making new records each day so that whole new streets and even new cities rise up .Final victory belongs to the Korean people under the leadership of the Workers’ Party of Korea guided by dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN .

LONG LIVE THE GLORIOUS WORKERS PARTY OF KOREA

GLORY TO ERA OF THE WORKERS PARTY OF KOREA!

LONG LIVE RESPECTED MARSHAL KIM JONG UN!
