Immortal Milestone Leader Kim Jong Il signs the inter-Korean joint declaration with Kim Dae-jung. It has been 17 years since the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was adopted at the historic inter-Korean summit held in Pyongyang for the first time in the history of Korea’s division. On the occasion of the 17th anniversary of publication of the joint declaration, the Korean people at home and abroad have a deep longing and reverence for leader Kim Jong Il who opened up June 15 reunification era and led it. The leader set it as his lifelong mission to carry out the instructions of President Kim Il Sung for national reunification. He devoted his heart and soul till the last moments of his life to achieving the reunification and bringing earlier the bright and prosperous future of the nation. It was his lofty will to go into partnership with any people, who aim at patriotism and reunification, regardless of their idea, political view. It aroused the Korean nation the sincere admiration and worship for the leader and inspired the people with enthusiasm for reunification and patriotism. With his patriotic will to subordinate everything to the cause of national reunification and open up a new era of national unity and independent reunification, the leader arranged the historic inter-Korean summit and adopted June 15 Joint Declaration. The idea of the declaration and the banner of reunification, provided by the leader with his great magnanimity and wise leadership, is the idea of By Korean Nation Itself. Thanks to the adoption of the declaration, it made it possible for the Korean nation to get an invincible banner to be maintained in the campaign to bring about a fresh era of independent reunification and wage the movement for national reunification more vigorously. In the course of implementing the joint declaration, the Korean nation promoted inter-Korean reconciliation, unity and cooperation by removing distrust and confrontation. The publication of the June 15 Joint Declaration was an epochal event that provided the Korean nation with the milestone for  national reunification and an event of national significance that made a breakthrough in history of national division riddled with face-off and war. South Korean mass media reported the joint declaration under the title of “Demonstration the adamant will of the Korean nation to reunify their country”, “Bright future of the Korean nation” and “Priority to the nation”.  Broad spectrum of south Korean people highly admired the leader as the most peerless patriot and nationalist, vigorous national leader, leader of decision and the most prominent general. The great feats of leader Kim Jong Il, who made the milestone for reunification and opened up an independent reunification era under the banner of By Korean Nation Itself, will remain forever in the history of the movement for national reunification. Now supreme leader Kim Jong Un, the great lodestar of reunification who is generous and has prominent leadership and high virtue, stands at the head of the movement for national reunification.  Looking up to his venerable image, the Korean nation is positive about the future of powerful and reunified Korea. Under the leadership of supreme leader Kim Jong Un, who is identical with the preceding leaders, the June 15 Joint Declaration will be kept as the milestone for national reunification and the reunified thriving Korea will surely come true.
