Bloodcurdling Murder

Bloodcurdling Murder

15 years ago, two fourteen-year-old girls Sim Mi-sun and Shin Hyo-soon were killed by an armored vehicle of the US troops present in south Korea on their way to their friend's birthday party on June 13, 2002.
Two school girls were run over by a US armored vehicle and killed horribly, according to testimonies of witnesses and result of investigation. Nevertheless, the US army turned down the south Koreans’ demand for investigation into the killing and punishment of those involved and repatriated the criminals to the US after declaring them not guilty.
The homicide of two girls is an atrocious manslaughter committed by Yankees who feel the thrill of joy at the sight of blood as it is a disastrous crime produced by the US military presence in south Korea.
Sparked by the brutal murder of the two girls, shouts of “Punishment of GIs”, “Total revision of SOFA” and “Withdrawal of the US troops” resounded across south Korea and the south Koreans’ unanimous bad blood towards the US developed into a sea of candlelight.
The candlelight rally started around the US embassy in Seoul from July to the end of that year turned south Korea into a sea of candlelight with attendance of people of 1 000 bodies of labor, academic, artistic and religious circles from 200 regions of south Korea.
The joint preparatory committee for memorial service for schoolgirls Shin Hyo-soon and Sim Mi-sun on the 15th anniversary of their death held a press conference in Seoul on June 8.
A member of the committee said that the committee decided to make reinvestigation into the killing by raising fund for building a peace park at the spot of killing.
On the evening of the day, they set up an incense-burning altar in front of the US embassy to hold a candlelight rally.

The US troops’ crime is unabated as long as the US behaves itself as master in south Korea and the pro-US sycophantic traitors remain intact.
The massive candlelight action which led to impeachment of Park Geun-hye is a succession of the anti-US candlelight action 15 years ago.
The south Koreans should accelerate a brisk nationwide struggle to put an end to the US troops’ presence in south Korea, the root cause of all misfortune and trouble, as they did fifteen years ago.
