Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- The authorities of south Korea are now taking measures to revive the already defunct function of the "Human Rights Committee".
The south Korean public describes it as the "will to get rid of the inhuman attitude of the previous regime" and the "process for turning abnormality into normality".
This reflects the demand for the abolition of social evils getting stronger in the south Korean society after the ouster of the worst traitor Park Geun Hye.
In fact, the "Human Rights Committee" of south Korea resorted to all sorts of evil things as an anti-DPRK plot-breeding organization, away from its original mission.
The committee was set up in Nov. 2001 under the pretext of preventing the violation of "human rights" by power bodies in south Korea.
Article 4 of its "Human Rights Committee Law" stipulates that the "scope of application of the law is confined to south Korean nationals and foreigners residing within the south Korean territory".
But after the emergence of the Lee Myung Bak and Park Geun Hye regimes, the committee had been reduced into an anti-DPRK confrontation body specializing in escalating confrontation with the fellow countrymen in the north to commit all sorts of evils.
Such criminal bodies like "special committee for human rights in the north" were set up within the committee and ultra-right conservative elements occupied key posts like chairman and permanent member.
Quite away from its original purpose, the committee had been keen on escalating confrontation with the north while calling for "human rights improvement plan" and "international seminar on human rights" in reference to the "human rights" in the north.
After all, members of the committee resigned en masse and the public complained that "human rights disappeared and human rights committee died" and "human rights should not be insulted".
At the instigation of traitor Park, the committee took the lead in carrying out the anti-DPRK smear campaign, revealing its confrontational nature.
Claiming "galvanized public concern for human rights issue in the north", the committee set up the "north's human rights records exhibition house" and collected data about "human rights violation" and put them on display. It even announced that it would offer such services as English translation for NGOs and individuals willing to submit data about "human rights situation in the north" to the UN bodies.
It justified anti-DPRK leaflet scattering-operation as an "expression of freedom" and did not hesitate to release "welcome statements" whenever the U.S. and its vassal forces fabricated "north's human rights resolutions".
The conservative forces reduced even the body dealing with their own human rights into anti-DPRK "human rights" body and confrontational body. This pushed the north-south relations into the worst phase and the situation on the peninsula close to a war.
South Korea has ample human rights issues, caused by the unpopular rule by the conservative forces, which have to be set right.
Citizens of the DPRK were abducted in group in broad daylight to be separated from their families against their will. Such crimes against humanity are openly committed in south Korea.
The "Human Rights Committee" has to disclose such serious human rights issues and make efforts to set them right.
This is the demand of the south Koreans and the way of reviving its function.
The south Korean authorities have to lend an ear to the assertion of the civic and public organizations, media and experts that the first human rights measure to be taken by the present "government" is to probe the truth behind "abduction of 12 women workers of the north" by the Park Geun Hye conservative forces and send them back to the north, and should not follow in the footsteps of the conservatives. -0-
