S. Korean Authorities' Fascist Actions Denounced by Democratic Lawyers Association of Korea

Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Democratic Lawyers Association of Korea released a statement on June 22 as regards the fact that the evil law of the confrontational era is still rampant in south Korea to suppress democracy and truth.

Shortly ago, the south Korean judicial authorities held the final hearing on an appeal at the Seoul High Court and demanded five years in prison for an inhabitant, who posted an article praising the peerlessly great men of Mt Paektu on websites and called for reunification through alliance, on charges of violation of the "Security Law".

On June 13 they held a trial of a reverend and sentenced him to three years in prison on charges of espionage that he was linked with the north during the Park Geun Hye regime.

The statement said that such fascist actions are unpardonable challenge to the mindset of the people valuing justice and conscience and yearning for a new politics and life and an anachronistic attempt to stem the trend of the times toward national reconciliation, unity and reunification.

It went on:

The south Korean authorities outwardly talk a lot about the development of the north-south relations, but are inwardly seeking to arrest the atmosphere for reunification through alliance with the north. This is an open denial of the DPRK and an undisguised declaration of their intention to go for confrontation with fellow countrymen just like the conservative regimes.

They are advised to draw a lesson from the miserable fate of Park Geun Hye who was expelled from Chongwadae before the expiry of her term of office and imprisoned while getting hell-bent on violation of human rights and confrontation with fellow countrymen.

It is the unanimous demand of all Koreans and the international community to abrogate the "Security Law", an evil law against human rights and reunification.

The south Korean authorities should resolutely say good-bye to the heinous confrontational policy towards the fellow countrymen, abolish the "Security Law", an evil law of outdated era, and set free unreasonably imprisoned pro-reunification patriots at once, if they truly wish improved north-south ties and reunification.

If they persist in the reckless treacherous moves to trample down the justice and truth while going against the trend of the era and the mindset of the people, they will be cursed and denounced by the whole nation. -0-
