U.S. and Its Vassal Forces' "Sanctions" on DPRK Will Bring Only Disgrace and Ruin to Them: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, June 9 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and its vassal forces have gone desperate in their bid to apply sanctions and pressure on the DPRK.

Making public "independent sanctions" on the DPRK, the U.S. included businesses and individuals of the third country it believed to have links with the DPRK in the list of "secondary sanctions". And on June 3 it instigated the UN Security Council to cook up another "sanctions resolution" over the ballistic rocket launch of the DPRK.

U.S. Defence Secretary Mattis, at the 16th Asian Security Council session, bluffed that the U.S. would "continue diplomatic and economic pressure on north Korea until it gives up its nuclear program", saying "north Korea's nuclear and missiles are an evident and substantial danger and challenge to the whole world."

The U.S. sustained "sanctions" moves against the DPRK are vicious hostility aimed to prevent the latter from bolstering its nuclear force, disarm it and strangle its economy.

The reason that the U.S. is putting "sanctions" on the DPRK is not because of nuclear weapons and missiles. It is because the DPRK, which has towered tall as the fortress of socialism in the East, is proving the inevitability of the ruin of capitalism and putting a brake in the U.S. strategy for world domination.

The UN is not U.S. Congress and the U.S. intent can not be that of the former. Neither the UN Charter nor international code include any article stipulating the application of differing obligations and rights to big countries and small countries or any item investing the U.S. with special position.

As in the past, the recent "sanctions resolution" is for the U.S. as it was cooked up by the forces, pursuant to its high-handed and arbitrary practices, at the end of dirty bargaining.

Those who spearheaded the "sanctions resolution" would be greatly mistaken if they think they can delay or check even a bit the DPRK's nuclear development.

"Sanctions" will not work on the DPRK which is advancing with self-development as inexhaustible motive force with a firm hold on Juche in ideology, independence in politics, self-support in the economy and self-reliance in national defence as its invincible strategic line.

Self-development by which we create everything required with our own efforts and technology and our own resources is the fundamental principle inherent in our national economy.

No wonder the DPRK's economy is making rapid progress, not stagnation and doldrums as wished by the enemies, despite the consecutive application of vicious "sanctions resolutions" by the U.S. and its vassal forces.

Big countries claiming to be a nuclear power undermine the traditional fraternal relations, chiming in with the U.S. sanctions moves. This grim reality today clearly proves that the only force for averting nuclear disaster on the Korean peninsula and maintaining regional peace lies in the powerful military capabilities of the DPRK with the nuclear force as a pivot.

"Sanctions" against the DPRK would only reinforce the revolutionary faith and spirit of self-development of the Korean army and people thousand-fold and harden their will to counter the enemies' reactionary offensive with revolutionary one.

The U.S. and its vassal forces may wait as long as they can for the DPRK to collapse with hope pinned on the worn-out "sanctions" racket, but it will bring only shame and disgrace.

The army and people of the DPRK will shatter to the smithereens the U.S. and its followers' unprecedented "sanctions" and pressure racket with the great spirit of self-development and invincible military might. -0-
