AS A INDEPENDENT COUNTRY HOW WE DEVELOP SRI LANKA ON BASIS OF JUCHE IDEA

My dear Chairman,

All the distinguished guests,

Dear Comrades.

It is with great pleasure and specially an honor for me to represent Sri Lanka as the President of Sri Lanka Juche Society.

First of all, I should give you a brief introduction on Sri Lanka and its political , economical and Social situation in recent-past. It is easy to think Sri Lanka as the tropical island offshoot of India; with the difference that the majority of the people are Sinhala Buddhists and minority Tamil-Hindus and Muslims.

Early days from year 1505 to 1948; till Sri Lanka gets its independence it was ruled by European invaders. Lastly by the British.

During this long period, country’s patriotic leaders, intellectuals, progressive people and organizations had taken every possible steps to defeat these foreign invaders and free the country.

After the world war II, in 1948 Sri Lanka was declared as an independent member of British Commonwealth. But there was no complete independence given. The country was politically, economically and socially under the control of western capitalist countries. So national struggles were carried forward by the people against the British imperialists.

People of Sri Lanka, devoting their lives for the country enabled to achieve some political independence but was experiencing economic difficulties in building new societies. Meantime free election system was introduced to the country. The first government was formed by the United National Party, which was also controlled by the British rulers.

In 2009, most determined national leader President Mahinda Rajapakse declared a military humanitarian mission using government troops and citizens defeated terrorists. This was against the interests of US and European countries. When an independent country tries to solve their problems within their own framework in their best suitable ways and becoming strong was not allowed in the world history by all US and Western capitalist countries by putting their pressure, involvements and treats by violating their independence. And they did whatever it takes to made those independent countries unstable and unsuccessful so they could achieve their hidden objectives and strategies.

After defeating terrorist groups President Mahinda Rajapakse has undertaken some social and economic reforms with major development projects. He has rebuild the government buildings, houses, bridges, roads and other related infrastructure which was destroyed by terrorists and freedom of the country was maintained.

This situation was not lead to US led capitalist countries interests and they wanted to do “Regime Change”. They secretly planned to overthrow the national leader and his government. The US, UK, Norway and Canada with their European countries and the support of local traitors, NGOs and opposition leaders of the country supported in fulfilling this act. In this plan a most surprising thing was happened. The main leftist party in Sri Lanka which was fighting decades for the freedom of the country, the People’s Liberation Front (JVP) directly supported to defeat the ruling democratic government with U.S. imperialist.

On this occasion US and other capitalist countries funded lots of money to their supporters inside the country. They gave every possible support to defeat the national government. They used mass media such as newspapers, radio and television to give false reports against the government. Internet media such as Facebook being used to corrupt mind of young generations which has very little knowledge on historical facts on global politics and corruptions. Even Regime Change was their origination intention they placed the new slogan “Good Governance”, in misleading citizens and especially young generation via Facebook. At last in 2015 they defeated this democratic government and “Regime Change” was made.

Now US based capitalists’ countries giving every support to their undemocratic present government and trying to change the constitution of the country and making social and economic reforms for their own benefits and long-term agendas which are violating the human rights of the people. Further they are trying to destroy our people’s freedom and sovereignty of the country. In this moment democratic opposition leaders and progressive people and government servants are getting organized against this puppet government and US led imperialists influences.

National struggles against the colonial rules enabled some countries in Asia to achieve political independence but economic problems were growing because of neo-colonialism and present unfair capitalist economic systems. The capitalist market relations between the poor countries and the rich countries have the trend of “the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer”.

We can understand the great leaders KIM IL SUNG and KIM JONG IL defeated Japan and US imperialists and released the country from their control and influences; and further developed DPR of Korea in independent and self-reliant ways. Much observe the principles of collective self-reliance, complete quality and mutual benefits on the basis of the Juche Idea of maintaining independence is absolutely admirable accomplishment of a successful country what DPR of Korea has achieved for decades under the great leaderships.

Present leader H.E. KIM JONG UN in his speech to the 7th congress of WPK clearly stated that the present and past situation in the country and indicated the tasks and ways for developing Korean revolution as a higher stage and accomplishing the cause of socialism by defending and developing the idea and exploits of the great leaders.

H.E. KIM JONG UN stated that politics of the WPK and the devoted struggle waged by the army and people of DPRK intensely loyal to the party.

We further understand as H.E. KIM JONG UN explained, how US imperialists put their political and military pressure, moves for provoking a war and economic blockage after the demise of H.E. KIM IL SUNG and country got hit by severe natural disasters bringing untold hardships and trials to the economic construction and people’s living.

He said that the entire party and all the people have achieved the single minded unity of the whole society in which they are united closely around the leader in thinking and purpose and sense of moral obligation. This is the great success and feat achieved by our party during the period under review.

He pointed out that independence, peace and friendship are the invariable foreign policy of the WPK and the principled stand to be maintained in the efforts for accomplishing the cause as global independence and party’s goal is to build a peaceful world free from war and it is the constant stand of our party and DPRK government to struggle for regional and global peace and security.

When we study, long years of history of Korea can easily understand the Korean democratic leaders and its people and army devoted their lives to free the country from imperialist forces. They gained socio-political independence and economic self-sufficiency of the country and its people and developed the great Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

In the history of Sri Lanka, we have faced difficulties in the struggles of Sri Lanka in regaining complete independence from the foreign invaders and their influences. Further Sri Lanka facing the problem of domestic puppets backed by US imperialists. This is a self-evident truth we take part to look at it from a Juche point of view.

Now, it is indispensable for Sri Lanka Juche researchers to explain the essence of the Juche Idea to the younger generation by linking historical struggles and victories for national independence with the concept of self-reliance learning from outstanding science and technology and social development attained in DPRK.
