Kim Yang Gon Dies

Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Yang Gon, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and deputy to the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, died in a traffic accident at 6:15 on December 29, Juche 104 (2015) at the age of 73.
Kim Yang Gon is a revolutionary soldier faithful to President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and the closest comrade-in-arms and steadfast revolutionary comrade of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
He is a fine son of the WPK and the Korean people as he devoted himself to the struggle for the final victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche, true to the leadership of the party and the leader.
Born in a very poor family of day-laborer during the period of the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists, he could lead a new life only under the care of Kim Il Sung after the liberation of the country. He grew up to be a genuine revolutionary and able political activist thanks to the particular trust and loving care of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
After graduating from Kim Il Sung University, he worked as an instructor of the Central Committee of the youth league and the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and then he held various posts such as an instructor, vice section chief, section chief, vice director and director of the International Affairs Department of the WPK Central Committee, making positive contributions to fully preparing the young people as reliable successors to the revolutionary cause of Juche, raising the international prestige of the dignified WPK and boosting solidarity with the progressive political parties of the world.
Holding the important posts of the director of the United Front Department of the Central Committee of the WPK and its secretary, he devotedly worked to implement the WPK's policy for the independent reunification of the country.
He devoted all his wisdom and energies to the work for developing the WPK into the great Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's party and thoroughly carrying out the last instructions of the great leaders for national reunification, remaining true to the unitary leadership of the Party Central Committee in the crucial historic period for carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche.
An obituary of Kim Yang Gon was issued in the joint name of the WPK Central Committee and the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on Tuesday.
The obituary said though he passed away, the devoted efforts and shining exploits he performed for the party and the revolution, the cause of building a thriving nation and the cause of national reunification will last forever.
The WPK Central Committee and the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK announced on the same day that the late Kim Yang Gon would be accorded a state funeral and formed a state funeral committee with Kim Jong Un as its chairman and with 69 persons including Kim Yong Nam as members.
The funeral committee said the bier of the late Kim Yang Gon is laid in the Sojang Club of Pothonggang District, Pyongyang City and it would receive mourners from 14:00 to 19:00 on Wednesday and that the coffin would be carried out of the club at 8:00 on Thursday. -0-
