DPRK's Nuclear Deterrent Is Natural Outcome: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, December 19 (KCNA) -- Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Perry at a recent interview confessed that Washington had planned an air strike at the Nyongbyon nuclear complex of the DPRK in 1994.
This means that the U.S. has long attempted to carry out its scenario for a preemptive attack upon the DPRK.
Washington has spurred its preparations for a nuclear war against the DPRK, watching for a chance of invasion.
The war-like forces of the U.S. shaped a risky operational scenario so-called "surgical strike" targeting key strategic installations in the DPRK and tried to apply it to their operation on the Korean Peninsula.
Slandering the DPRK as part of an "axis of evil", the U.S. listed it as a target of preemptive nuclear attack.
Under a variety of operation plans such as OPLAN 5029, OPLAN 5030 and OPLAN 5012 the U.S. has masterminded joint war drills against the DPRK every year for decades under various codenames, namely Focus Retina, Freedom Bolt, Team Spirit, RSOI, Key Resolve and Foal Eagle.
The U.S. has massively brought strategic nuclear war hardware to its bases in south Korea from its mainland and other overseas military bases, which is totally aimed to provoke a nuclear war against the DPRK, not to merely irritate it.
To cope with the nuclear threat coming from the U.S, the DPRK has bolstered up its defence capabilities with the nuclear deterrent as a pivot under the banner of Songun.
The on-going situation proves how just the DPRK was when it pressed for the strategy.
The DPRK has equipped itself with nuclear deterrent and strategic and tactical rocket forces and Washington's attempt at a strike at Pyongyang resulted in making the latter being capable of striking the U.S. mainland.
By dint of the Songun policy and the powerful nuclear deterrence, the DPRK firmly defended its destiny and dignity despite the outsiders' intervention and aggression moves and all challenges against reunification.
But for the DPRK's powerful nuclear deterrent for self-defence, the Korean Peninsula and its vicinity would have long been thrown into an appalling confusion like war-torn Mideast now when power politics rule the roost and injustice violates justice and truth.
Entirely just is the road of Songun (army-first) taken by the DPRK and its non-stop development of nuclear deterrent. -0-
