The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK), the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE) and the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) were saddened to learn on Sunday of the passing away of Marshal Ri Ul Sol, former member of the National Defence Commission of the DemocraticPeople's Republic of Korea and a veteran of both the anti-Japanese revolutionary armed struggle and the Fatherland Liberation War against the US imperialists ;
Marshal Ri Ul Sol was born into a poor peasant family in the north eastern coast of Korea in the 1920s and devoted his whole life fighting for the Juche communist revolutionary cause . He joined the anti-Japanese guerrillas making a contribution to the cause of Korea's independence . He was an officer in the Korean
People's Army during the great Fatherland Liberation War against the Yankee imperialist aggressors. He defended the great leader President KIM IL SUNG and served as his adjutant .
After the Fatherland Liberation War and the period of reconstruction comrade Ri Ul Sol held many posts becoming a member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea in 1966 and a member of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK from 1990 to 2003 .
ASSPUK , JISGE and UK KFA particularly remember Marshal Ri Ul Sol for his contribution to the collection of remisences "For the Freedom and Liberation of the Korean People-Record of the Anti-Japanese armed struggle " published by the Party History Institute of the Workers' Party of Korea.
We mourn the passing of an outstanding Juche revolutionary and fighter . Our condolences to his family and the Korean people.
