The Korean Friendship Association of the UK(KFA UK ) in cooperation with the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea(BGSJI) and Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK) held a meeting on Saturday 22nd of July at the Chadswell Centre, London at 2 pm. The meeting was honoured by the presence of a diplomatic representative of the DPRK embassy in London and attended by members of the KFA UK, BGSJI and ASSPUK as well as members of the New Communist Party, Revolutionary Communist Party Britain Marxist Leninist, Communist Party Great Britain Marxist Leninist, youth and the progressive community in London.
Dr Dermot Hudson chairman of the KFA UK and chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea opened the meeting by saying that the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War is a very important one, also that even today the US imperialists are threatening the DPRK with nuclear submarines.
A message of greetings was received from the Korean Friendship Association of the USA.
A representative of the DPRK embassy addressed the meeting pointing out that “In 1950 the Korean war, the fiercest war since the Second World War, broke out.
At that time no one ever thought that the DPRK, founded two years before, would defeat the United States, which had been boasting of being the “strongest” in the world with a history of victory in 110 wars since its founding.
As the world media described, the war was a confrontation between rifle and atomic bomb.
But the result of the war turned out to be the opposite. The DPRK, a small country in the East, created a miracle by defeating the multinational forces, which pounced upon a country in the name of the United Nations for the first time in the world.”
Dr Hudson in his speech in part said that “The great Fatherland Liberation War proved the validity of the Juche Idea and Songun idea(army first). The great revolutionary leader Generalissimo KIM IL SUNG not only humbled the pride of the arrogant US imperialists but smashed the reactionary bourgeois military theory that advocates the omnipotence of weapons over humans.
The US imperialists not only lost huge amounts of manpower and materials but also suffered irretrievable political and moral defeats. It was a great victory for the Korean people and opened up a new era of anti-US, anti-imperialist struggle. Indeed Korea was the war before Vietnam!”
Theo Russell, member of the New Communist Party Political Bureau in his address to the meeting said that the US “cannot admit responsibility for aggression against DPRK in 1950 because US still dreams of occupying... Thus entire might of US and Western systems of thought manipulation is mobilised to maintain the lie. And this includes n apparatus of news, well-financed think tanks, universities, mass media, intelligence agencies”
A worker and trade unionist addressed the meeting stressing that “ All lovers of peace in the world support the people of the DPRK in their fight against imperialism. Every success for the DPRK is a success for the workers of the world, and I send my full support and best wishes as they continue their work in building their country.”
Other speakers referred to the need to Defend People’s Korea and to hold meetings such as this one.
A short Q and A session was held.
A message to respected Marshal KIM JONG UN was adopted.
Literature from the DPRK and KFA UK was on display
Light refreshments were served.
The meeting concluded at 1645 hours.
