Pyongyang, July 8 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung is an ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander and the great guardian of justice and peace as he honorably defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country and set a world-historic example in the anti-imperialist struggle by leading the fierce Fatherland Liberation War to victory.
He, an outstanding military strategist, aroused the army and people of the DPRK to the sacred war for national defence and overpowered the enemy's numerical and military and technical superiority with his unique military idea, outstanding strategy and tactics and rare commanding art, thus humbling the arrogant U.S. imperialists and working military miracles to be recorded in the human history of wars forever.
In the Fatherland Liberation War, a showdown between rifle and A-bomb, the young DPRK defeated the U.S. imperialists boasting of being the "strongest" in the world and the Korean people proudly emerged as a heroic people in the arena of history. This is a brilliant fruition of the distinguished military wisdom and wise leadership of Kim Il Sung, a legendary hero.
Holding aloft the banner of Juche, he had won a brilliant victory in the socialist revolution and construction and the fierce anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. confrontation for decades after the war and turned the DPRK into an invincible socialist country, mighty and dignified with independence in politics, self-support in the economy and self-reliance in national defence.
The undying feats of the President, who defeated the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces to provide the glorious tradition and wealth for eternal victory of our country and people and open a new chapter in the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle, will shine for all ages.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the war victory, the Standing Committee of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly decided to confer the medal commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on President Kim Il Sung who won a brilliant victory in the war and made an immortal contribution to the Korean revolution and the human cause of independence against imperialism, in reflection of the unanimous will and desire of all the people and service personnel.
A decree of the SPA Standing Committee in this regard was issued on July 1. -0-
