A speech by a Worker and a Trade Unionist to the KFA UK and BGSJI meeting for the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War

Thank you Comrade Dermot and the KFA for organising this event to mark this important anniversary.

As a worker and trade union member,I send congratulations solidarity and friendship to the people of the DPRK on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of their Victory in the war of liberation on July 27.

These days DPRK continues to work to improve the lives of it's people, in the face of ever increasing aggression from the US, and from the US puppet regimes in Japan and South Korea. It stands strong and defiantly faces these challenges. Now the situation becomes more serious on a weekly basis, with constant military aggressions, and wargames that get bigger each time.

Other comrades have mentioned the war of liberation and the odds that the DPRK faced, and and the international support and solidarity, that led to their victory.

I'll briefly mention that in China people are more and more interested in this period and the role of the People's Volunteer Army. Recently several blockbuster films have been made that are set in the war and Battles of Lake Changin 1&2 have broken box office records. Chinese people are very proud of their role in the DPRK victory.

In the West, people know little of this war, the brutality and inhumanity of the US and their allies, and the war crimes committed by them.

For example the sheer amount of bombs and weapons used against largely defenceless people, dropping more bombs that were used in WW2, in a way that foreshadowed the crimes that would take place in Vietnam, Kampuchea and Laos. And causing incredible damage to the cities and industries.

How the war was used to kick start the Japanese economy, after it was decided that Japan would be a US ally in the region.

And the crimes committed by individual US military units and soldiers that can only be compared to the crimes of Nazi Germany.

This is work we can all do, on an individual basis to make people more aware of the truth. And thank you to KFA and supporters for always fighting for the truth to be known.

All lovers of peace in the world support the people of the DPRK in their fight against imperialism. Every success for the DPRK is a success for the workers of the world, and I send my full support and best wishes as they continue their work in building their country.

Long live the DPRK, and all success and solidarity in their fight against world imperialism.
