Iron-willed Commander Who Led Fatherland Liberation War to Victory

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- July 27 is a significant day when President Kim Il Sung defeated the U.S. imperialist aggressors, who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world, to win a shining victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

The Fatherland Liberation War in the 1950s was a fierce revolutionary war unprecedented in history.

The U.S. imperialists instigated the south Korean puppet clique to ignite the Korean War, and mobilized their huge war hardware and even troops of their satellite countries to the war and employed all the cruelest and brutal methods of war.

It was unimaginable at that time for the young DPRK to fight against the formidable imperialist foe, as it was less than two years after its foundation and five years after the country's liberation.

At an emergency DPRK Cabinet meeting on June 25, Juche 39 (1950) when the world attention was focused on the DPRK, the President said that we should show the mettle of Koreans to the U.S. imperialists who look down Koreans, and called for launching a decisive counteroffensive to wipe out the invaders.

He powerfully aroused the army and people of the DPRK to the war against the U.S. imperialist aggressors and led the war to victory with his Juche-based military idea, strategies and tactics and outstanding commanding art.

The war methods advanced by him were entirely new and unique ones, unprecedented in the history of wars. Among them were the immediate counteroffensive, brave siege-based annihilation, formation of the second front behind the enemy lines by regular army units and active positional defence.

The battle for liberating Taejon known as an example of the modern encirclement, the battle in the waters off Jumunjin unprecedented in the world history of naval battles, the battle for defending Wolmi Island which delayed the landing of 50 000 enemy troops for three days only with four cannons, and the miracle in the sky which resulted in shooting down B-29 strategic bombers the U.S. imperialists boasted of being "an air fortress", etc. are the fruition of his superb strategy.

The love and trust of the President, who visited the forefront of the war to indicate the operational proposals and instilled firm confidence in victory into the servicepersons and civilians, always finding himself among them, served as the basic source for enabling the army and people of the DPRK to defeat the U.S. imperialists and perform the world-startling military miracles in the most difficult war.

Thanks to his rare military stratagem and wise leadership, the Korean people shattered the myth of "mightiness" of the U.S. imperialists and defended the dignity, honor and sovereignty of the DPRK and prevented a new world war to safeguard human peace, thus bringing about a great event to be specially recorded in the history of the Korean nation and the world history of revolution. -0-
