The UK Korean Friendship Association issued the following statement on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration between the DPRK and south Korea.
On the 15th of June it will be 16 years since the then south Korean chief executive Kim Dae Jung (himself a former political prisoner in south Korea ) made an unprecedented trip to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea where he met the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il and signed the historic north-south declaration . The declaration was based on the principle of "By Our Nation Itself " meaning that Korea should be reunified by its own efforts not by the intervention of foreign powers. This was based on the three fundamental principles of reunification set down by the great leader President Kim Il Sung which were agreed by the south Korean side in July 1972. The historic June 15th declaration was a bridge
over the chasm of national division that had been imposed by outside
forces principally the aggressive US imperialists. It was a bridge of
hope , a rainbow bridge of unity and national reconciliation.
The June 15 declaration fully represented the will and aspirations of the entire Korean people north and south for peaceful reunification. The June 15 declaration was the precious fruit of the persevering and continuous efforts of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il who worked day and night for reunification. It was a lofty manifestation of the DPRK's stance for independent reunification and its profoundly peace-loving policy.
The June 15 declaration fully represented the will and aspirations of the entire Korean people north and south for peaceful reunification. The June 15 declaration was the precious fruit of the persevering and continuous efforts of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il who worked day and night for reunification. It was a lofty manifestation of the DPRK's stance for independent reunification and its profoundly peace-loving policy.
However, the current situation prevailing on the Korean peninsula is volatile contrary to the June 15 reunification era.
Regrettably the ideas and concepts of the June 15 declaration have been negated by the fascist Park Geun Hye puppet regime, the sworn enemies and oppressors of the south Korean people. They have trampled down the June 15 declaration and have opposed reunification.
Due to the Park Geun-hye clique’s anti-reunification moves, inter-Korean relations have come to rupture. Far from inter-Korean reconciliation and unity, the Korean Peninsula has been in constant danger of war.
Defying the requirement of the Korean nation which desires independent reunification, peace and prosperity, the Park clique is making desperate bid to escalate inter-Korean confrontation and unleash a war against the DPRK in collusion with the foreign forces.

We support the struggle of the Korean people to implement the June 15th declaration. UK KFA supports the struggle of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front of south Korea and the south Korean people against the US imperialists and other forces that obstruct the reunification of Korea, the cherished goal of the entire Korean people.We also support those proposals for Juche-orientated reunification made by dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un at the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
