In 1993, 28 years from now, H.E. Yasser Arafat, President of the State of Palestine paid an official visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(DPRK) from July 26 to 28 to attend the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
President Kim Il Sung accorded warm hospitality to H.E. President Yasser Arafat, a goodwill envoy of Palestinian people, who visited the DPRK sixth time with deep feelings of solidarity and special friendship for the Korean people.
President Kim Il Sung held talks with H.E. President Yasser Arafat and hosted a luncheon in honor of him. President Kim Il Sung also bestowed a favor on President Yasser Arafat by seating him nearest during the military parade, one-million-strong mass rally, and festive evening entertainment in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
H.E. Yasser Arafat conferred the “Order of Star of Palestine”, the highest order of his country, on President Kim Il Sung in reflection of the boundless respect and admiration from the Palestinian people, and presented a gift, wishing him long life and good health.
President Kim Il Sung held several rounds of talks with President Yasser Arafat, encouraging him to fight resolutely with stronger revolutionary faith and will.
As a matter of fact, President Arafat was in a mood of despair, feeling like wandering in a maze, in the wake of the collapse of socialism in Eastern Europe when Palestine had been facing the arduous time of fighting against Zionists.
When he was informing President Kim Il Sung about the prevailing situation with regard to the struggle for establishing State of Palestine with Kuds as its capital, his face vividly revealed the worries and apprehensions.
President Kim Il Sung fathomed out his mind and stressed that the collapse of socialist countries in Eastern Europe does not and cannot mean that the peoples of revolutionary countries are all dead, and that if enemies attack us, we will fight to the finish.
Looking up to President Kim Il Sung with the most sublime feelings, President Arafat said reverentially that he, bearing in mind the teachings of the great President, would fight the enemy to the end as long as there remains one last resistance fighter and until the day of victory when the sacred Palestinian flag is hoisted in Kuds.
After he returned to his country, President Arafat made a breakthrough in settling the issue of Palestine and provided the prospects for establishing an independent state by carrying out proactive struggle against the enemy’s maneuvers.
President Kim Il Sung was a great revolutionary and a genuine comrade of the Palestinian people, who always paid deep attention and extended unreserved support to the righteous struggle of the Palestinian people for regaining their legitimate national rights.
In the struggle for anti-imperialism and independence, the peoples of the DPRK and Palestine have long formed and developed the bond of friendship, and this friendship continues to be strengthened through centuries and decades.
We will, in the future, too, firmly stand by the Palestinian people and invariably render active support to their righteous cause.
The righteous cause of the Palestinian people will surely emerge victorious.
