From the Korean Associations for Friendship with European Countries/ DPRK Committee For Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries - On the anniversary of the birth of Madam KIM JONG SUK

 Dear friends and comrades,

In a few days time we are going to greet the birthday anniversary of the anti-Japanese heroines Kim Jong Suk. Greeting her auspicious birthday, it reminds us of  her immortal exploits that she had achieved for the country and nation.

Born into  a family of  poor peasants at Hoeryong on the northern tip of Korea on December 24, 1971, Kim Jong Suk experienced the misfortune of the country and nation, and in her teens she embarked on the road of struggle to save her country and fellow people.

At the age of 18, she joined the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army led by President Kim Il Sung. Since then she fought bloody battles with arms in her hand for over ten years.

During these arduous anti-Japanese bloody battles, she had worn the fame as an anti-Japanese heroine and a woman guerrilla general.

Kim Jong Suk devoted her all for the personal safety and good health of President Kim Il Sung. There are so many anecdotes, but here is one story that shows about it.

In late June 1940 the guerrilla unit commanded by President Kim Il Sung was about to cross a river in the outskirts of Dashahe. There and ten, Japanese soldiers, who were pursuing stealthily, occupied a height and suddenly opened fire.

President Kim Il Sung ordered his men to take an immediate charge towards the height. At the risk of his own life, he was commanding the battle on a rock, when some enemy soldiers stole up on him their rifles aimed at him. At this critical moment, Kim Jong Suk, who was mindful of his personal safety all the time, spotted them, and shielded him with her own body, shooting the enemy soldiers at the same time. This was not the first time she defended President Kim Il Sung.

There were so many similar anecdotes like this during the battles against Japanese, that she safeguarded President Kim Il Sung from danger at the risk of her life.

For her, President Kim Il Sung was the heart of Korea, whom she had to defend at all costs, even by sacrificing herself.

And throughout her short life, she devoted her all for the sake of Kim Il Sung’s safety and good health. The stories of his wet clothes were dried by her body in the winter cold during the consecutive fierce battles, how she thinned her hair to make liners for his shoes and how she made overcoats for him with floss-silk that is said to be bullet-proof and so on. These stories clearly show her devoted life for the President Kim Il Sung.

Kim Jong Suk would put her pistol in small hands General Kim Jong Il, when he was young, and taught him how to shoot, saying with deep meaning that the country should be liberated and defended by force of arms and tailored him to a general’s uniform. And she used to request him to grow up to become an excellent general like his father and a few hours before she died, she told the young general to hold President Kim Il Sung in high esteem.

Thus, Kim Jong Suk had educated General Kim Jong Il from his early age to carry forward the cause of President Kim Il Sung faithfully and hold him in high esteem always.

As his mother Kim Jong Suk wished, General Kim Jong Il was always faithful and respectful toward great President Kim Il Sung and his cause was carried out successfully by the building of socialist paradise in this land which is good to live in.

Until today Korean people praise her immortal exploits highly, achieved for the country and nation, and these will continually hand down from generation to generation.

Best regards,

on behalf of all Korean Associations for Friendship with European Countries
