17th Enlarged Meeting of Political Bureau and 5th Meeting of Executive Policy Council of 7th Central Committee of WPK Held







 Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- The 17th enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the 5th Meeting of the Executive Policy Council of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK took place at the office building of the Central Committee of the WPK on August 25.


Kim Jong Un, chairman of the WPK, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, was present at the meetings.


Attending the meetings were members and alternate members of the Political Bureau including members of the Executive Policy Council of the Central Committee of the WPK.


Present there as observers were leading officials of departments of the WPK Central Committee and members of relevant fields.


Supreme Leader of the Party, the state and the armed forces Kim Jong Un presided over the 17th enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK.


The meeting discussed in depth the relevant issues of examining the state emergency anti-epidemic posture to cope with the world public health crisis and further intensifying the anti-epidemic work.


The meeting seriously assessed some defects in the state emergency anti-epidemic work for checking the inroads of the malignant virus, and studied measures to overcome the defects urgently.


The meeting stressed the need to imbue officials of the Party, public security and defense organs at all levels once again with the idea of the Party Central Committee on taking intense anti-epidemic measures and to thoroughly maintain perfect anti-epidemic posture.


Citing facts about some shortcomings in state emergency anti-epidemic work, the Supreme Leader underlined the need to take active measures involving the entire Party and society for completing and maintaining the anti-epidemic posture and eliminating some defects.


The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK made relevant decisions on agenda items brought up for discussion.


The meeting put an emphasis on the discussion of the issues of taking thorough state emergency measures on preventing the damage with strong typhoon expected to affect the overall area of the DPRK including South Hwanghae, South Phyongan and North Phyongan Provinces between August 26 and 27.


Kim Jong Un set forth tasks for the Party organizations, people's power organs and public security organs at all levels, saying that to thoroughly prevent the casualties by typhoon and minimize the damage to the crops is an important work which can never be neglected even a moment for our Party bearing the responsibility for the destiny of the people and also a crucial one deciding whether we would successfully wrap up this year's farming or not.


He stressed the need to conduct information activities among officials, Party members and other working people in an intensive way to awaken them to the importance of the work for preventing the damage by typhoon and the method for countering crisis, and called upon all the fields of national economy to take instant measures to prevent the damage from the typhoon.


The meeting decided to map out and issue the written directive of the Central Committee of the Party on thoroughly implementing the instructions given by Kim Jong Un.


There took place a meeting of the Executive Policy Council following the enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee.


The meeting studied and discussed practical issues arising in implementing the decision of the 6th Plenary Meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK on convening the 8th Congress of the WPK.


The meeting organized the preparatory committee for the successful 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and decided on the work system and the assignment of work for the panels and groups.


The relevant decision of the Executive Policy Council of the Party Central Committee was adopted with full approval. -0-
