The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK),the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE),the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula (BSCPRKP) a statement in support of the statement issued by the Korean National Peace Committee (KNPC) on the 22nd of February :
Despite the ongoing atmosphere of détente and reconciliation on the Korean peninsula , the US imperialists and Japanese imperialists have ploughed ahead ,regardless, with anti-DPRK war exercises which ruin the environment for peace and create tensions. Needless to say the Western mainstream media is silent on the subject.
The US imperialists and Japanese warmongers have from the 16th of February carried out a so-ca;;ed " "combined air-defence and missile-shielding drill" which involved Inspection of the system for joint detection, tracking and interception of the DPRK's ballistic rockets and fighters through the coordinated operation of the air-defence network of the U.S. and Japan, and also the interception drill of Patriot missile units under the Japan Air "Self-Defense Force" and the emergency sortie drill of its fighters.
Significantly not only were the US military involved but the maritime and air units of the Japanese
"Self Defence Force " , showing that Japanese imperialism plans to make a big comeback to the Korean peninsula with the help of the US imperialists.
The DPRK KNPC rightly brands the exercises as a " ferocious gangster-like" and calls the US what is namely that "The American empire is a heinous rogue state" and points to the danger of Japan trying to revive the old Japanese empire 'Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" with help from the US.
What these exercises show is that the US and Japan have no interest in peace on the Korean peninsula and are keen to disrupt inter-Korean reconciliation .
Our organisations strongly denounce the exercises and call for an end to all military exercises held by the US and Japan on the Korean peninsula . Moreover there should be a complete withdrawal of US forces from south Korea, the shut-down of US bases in south Korea and a complete end to any
Japanese military involvement on the Korean peninsula.
