Pressure on Sovereign State Can Never be Unanimous Will of International Community: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- The U.S. desperately tries to create an atmosphere for sanctions and pressure on the DPRK after cooking up a brigandish story about "unanimous will of the international community" peppered with lies and fabrications.

Faulting the DPRK's test-launches of ground-to-ground medium-to-long range strategic ballistic rocket Hwasong-12 and strategic ballistic missile Pukguksong-2, the U.S. is urging all member nations of the UN to take prompt measures to implement all sanctions imposed on the DPRK by the UN Security Council, the package measures stipulated in Resolutions 2321 and 2270 adopted last year in particular.

Some bellicose elements of the Trump administration are going on the rampage while lording it over the UN. They threaten countries to either support north Korea or support the U.S., bluffing that any country, organization or individual supporting north Korea will be strictly sanctioned and that even though it is an international organization, it will be called into question, if it supports north Korea.

This brigandish logic meant to make all countries be obedient to its will or be subject to sanctions and pressure is rejected by the international community.

At a seminar held at U.S. Congress on May 12, an expert on Korean issue disclosed the absurdity of assertions against the DPRK, clarifying that the DPRK has made efforts for regional peace and implementation of agreements between the north and the south while the West and south Korea have resorted to false propaganda to give impression that sanctions and blockade are the only method in a bid to cover up their failed policy toward the DPRK.

Commenting on the assertion that "there is no other way of making north Korea come out for negotiations but to inflict maximum pressure and blockade", he refuted it, saying "regional situation deteriorated whenever the U.S. put pressure on north Korea".

A socio-political critic of Russia recently expected Korea will be one of the world's economic and military powers in a decade if the north and the south of it are reunified, saying that's why the U.S. and other Western media are doing their best to describe the DPRK as a monster and war is what is wanted by the U.S.

The U.S. policy-makers had better pay heed to the comments of those experts.

Sanctions and pressure on a sovereign state can never be the unanimous wish of the international community.

The DPRK has been exposed to pressure of all descriptions by big chauvinist forces, to say nothing of nuclear threat and blackmail and sanctions by the imperialists including the U.S.

Had the DPRK failed to stand the pressure by the imperialists and the chauvinists, it would have already been reduced to a colony of the imperialists or to a subject country of big chauvinists.

It is a serious lesson taught by the tragic incidents in various countries that if any nation has no strength, even though it is honest and just, it can not speak out in the international arena and would not be able to maintain justice and conscience after being reduced into the plaything of big powers.

It is by no means fortuitous that many countries are standing against the U.S. adventurous moves which rendered the situation in the Korean peninsula and the region tense and compelled the DPRK to bolster the nuclear force.

The unanimous will of the international community today is to realize independent development of sovereign states and genuine international justice. -0-
