      The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK), the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE) and the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) today issued a joint statement in support of the White paper issued by the Korean Jurists Committee on the 14th of January concerning the issue of the conclusion of a peace treaty between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the US;
 The conclusion of a peace treaty between the DPRK and USA is long overdue and it is an issue that the US have persistently sidestepped  or ignored the issue of the conclusion of a peace treaty .
   The US imperialists have most wilfully violated and reneged on the Korean Armistice Agreement (KAA) . It violated the core provision of the KAA which is the withdrawal of all foreign troops from Korea. This stipulation was contained in paragraph 60 of the KAA . US troops remain in south Korea nearly 63 years after the conclusion of the agreement.  Paragraph 13 d of the KAA was effectively negated by the US who in 1957 introduced nuclear weapons .  The US also reinforced its troops in south Korea.Thus the Korean Armistice Agreement has been reduced to a meaningless scrap of paper.
It was always the case that the Korean Armistice Agreement by its very nature was not a permanent nor could it ever be. An armistice is defined by the Oxford
English dictionary as "An agreement made by opposing sides in a war to stop fighting for a certain time". Thus by sidestepping the issue of a permanent peace treaty the US has created a very abnormal situation on the Korean peninsula of neither war nor peace.
  The situation is very precarious . Due to the repeated violations of the KAA , the Supreme Command of the Korean People's Army declared the KAA null and void on the 13th of March 2013. It is impossible to revive the Armistice Agreement which in any case was meant to be a temporary agreement not one that would remain in place for decades. Therefore logically a peace treaty between the DPRK and US should be concluded and US troops withdrawn. However the US
refuses to do so because it wants to keep its troops in south Korea  and keep south Korea as its colony forever . It also wants to effect 'regime change' in the DPRK and stifle its socialist system by force.
 We fully support the White Paper of the Korean Jurists Committee and believe that it be disseminated far and wide . It is time for the peace movement and the progressive movement to take up the issue of the conclusion of a peace treaty on the Korean peninsula and the withdrawal of US troops from the south of Korea.
