Seminar of the Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Comrade KIM IL SUNG

The Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association organized a seminar in Prague on Saturday, April 9, 2022, on the occasion of the coming Day of the Sun, the 110th anniversary of the birth of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung (April 15, 1912 – July 8, 1994).

The meeting was opened by the national anthems of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The meeting was chaired by Comrade RSDr. Jozef Servista. In addition to him, the 1st Vice-Chairman Comrade Lukáš Vrobel, the Vice-Chairman Comrade Bc. Alexander Velitš, members of the committee, members of the Paektusan Association and invited guests were present.

The diplomats of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Comrade PhDr. Ju Won Chol and 3rd Embassy Secretary Comrade Ri Kyong Son honored the meeting with their presence.

Chairman Comrade RSDr. Jozef Servista in his introductory speech praised great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung as a great commander who achieved the liberation of Korea from the Japanese occupiers, defeated the American imperialist aggressors, and ensured the unshakability of Korean socialism at a time of counter-revolutions in some countries. The speech also highlighted the great leader’s merits of the international communist and workers‘ movement, the national liberation movement and national reunification. He stated that thanks to the legacy of the great leader, the party and the people of the DPRK are now firmly united and overcome difficulties, and their reaction will not be able to stop their progress.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Comrade PhDr. Ju Won Chol expressed gratitude to the participants for their friendship with the Korean people. He said that the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung was the legendary hero of the guerrilla struggle, the people’s leader and the father of the nation, so the people do not forget him even almost 30 years after his death. The great leader devoted himself to strengthening the international communist and workers‘ movement and relations with countries recognizing Korean sovereignty. He visited Czechoslovakia twice and initiated the development of Czechoslovak-Korean relations. On his second visit (in 1984), Comrade Ambassador was personally present as a student in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Korean students in Czechoslovakia became the basis for the further development of diplomatic relations. Comrade Ambassador expressed hope in removing obstacles to relations between the two countries and restoring their friendly relations.

Comrade Lukáš Vrobel, First Vice-Chairman of the Paektusan Association, made a speech outlining the life and work of the great leader and his contribution to the upbringing of new generations and the continuation of the Korean Revolution to the present day. The speech was accompanied by a presentation of photographs and images from the revolutionary activities of the great leader. This was followed by an annotated presentation of pictures from some important events in Korea this year.

The discussion recalled friendships with Korean pupils and students in the former Czechoslovakia and praised the importance of the DPRK’s self-sufficiency and independent self-defense in today’s world threatened by the risk of nuclear war. The modern progressive culture of the liberated northern half of Korea, contrasting with the decadence in south Korea or in our country, was highly valued. Socialist Korea was valued as a flower garden, but we must take care of it and pull out the weed so that it does not grow like in the former Czechoslovakia. Attention was also paid to the development of agriculture, rural and environmental protection, raising living standards and caring for a healthy and valuable lifestyle of the people. The working people of socialist Korea are happy because they work for themselves, not for the capitalists, and study for the development of their socialist homeland, not for a personal career.

Vice-Chairman Comrade Bc. Alexander Velitš presented a draft seminar statement celebrating the merits of the great leader, noting that the seminar wishes the DPRK, under the leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un, to continue to make significant progress in the field of national defense, economic development and socialism. The statement was adopted unanimously.

Committee member and manager of Paektusan Association comrade Ing. Pavel Rejf read a draft letter to Comrade Kim Jong Un. The letter was approved unanimously.

The meeting ended with the „Internationale“ from the record from the DPRK. A commemorative card was handed over to the participants.

The seminar was followed by a meeting of the committee of the Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association
