The influence of President Kim IL Sung's philosophical thinking in the form of the Juche Idea is even relevant to the situation in the 21st century. During the first two decades of the 21st century, technological and social changes have transformed the world, further enhancing the role and position of the popular masses as the leading force in shaping the global environment. The aspiration to be the master of social, economic, political, and cultural existence is not uniformly realized in every nation, depending on the social system prevailing in the country concerned. In the capitalist and developing countries, the role of the working masses in their self-determination is restrained by class relations and more importantly by the ideological consciousness and educational level of the people. The Juche Idea is the ideology showing the way to fulfilling the cause of human emancipation.
President Kim IL Sung created the Juche Idea amidst the national liberation struggle of the Korean people against the colonial rule of Japanese Imperialism in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Juche by its very essence is not an abstract formula or dogma but was born out of the realities of revolutionary practice. On June 3rd, 1930 at the Meeting of the Young Communist League of Korea held at Kalun, President Kim IL Sung proclaimed the Juche Idea with the speech entitled "The Path of the Korean Revolution". Over the course of the Korean Revolution, the thoughts and theories of President Kim IL Sung signified the integral whole of the Juche Idea with the fight for the national and social liberation of the Korean people. The formation of the Juche Idea put the popular masses as the active subject of history for the first time in the annuals of philosophy in theoretical and practical terms. Guided by the Juche Idea authored by President Kim IL Sung the war for freedom from the tyranny of Japanese rule ended in the victory of the Korean people on August 15th, 1945. President Kim IL Sung led the party, army, and people in gaining an immense historic victory over the allied forces of imperialism on July 27th, 1953.
The tasks of rebuilding Korea and stepping up socialist construction in the 1950s and 1960s required a great deal of creativity and originality by the party and people of the DPRK. President Kim IL Sung in his work "On Eliminating Dogmatism And Formalism And Establishing Juche In Ideological Work", on December 28th, 1955, addressed these questions. Throughout the process of building socialism in the DPRK the principles of Juche in ideology, independence in politics, self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in defence were maintained by President Kim IL Sung. In the space of 14 years, the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea became an industrialized socialist state with a mechanized agricultural sector. This fast pace of industrialization in the DPRK was noted by the Economist Doctor Joan Robinson of Cambridge Univseirty as being the Korean miracle. The strength of the Juche-based socialist system revealed itself in the fact that the popular masses took part in industrialization with a very high degree of consciousness and creativity.
Chairman Kim Jong IL assumed an immense responsibility of systematizing the Juche Idea developed by President Kim IL Sung. The Juche Idea authored by President Kim IL Sung was regarded by Chairman Kim Jong IL as the sole guiding ideology of the Korean Revolution and solves all the problems arising in building socialism and communism. The works of Chairman Kim Jong IL can be rightfully regarded as the encyclopedia of the Juche Idea, adding to the treasure house of human thought
Keeping abreast with new developments, General Secretary Kim Jong Un formulated Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism in the 2010s. The concept of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism put forward by General Secretary Kim Jong Un is an integration of the Juche Idea and of the theory and method of the revolution and construction. Running through the theory and practice of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is the People-First Doctrine, The Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist ideology regards the people as the most precious and powerful entity in the world and everything in society and nature should serve them. General Secretary Kim Jong Un clarified and codified the thoughts of President Kim IL Sung and Chairman Kim Jong IL into a complete system of ideology.
With the rise of technology in the 21st century, the role and position of man, the social being are empowered more than at any other period of history. The means of communications via the internet and social media have vastly increased the speed of the interchange of ideas and techniques across continents. Humanity faces many challenges in the upcoming decades such as Climate Change, the rise of Artificial Intelligence, and combating the outbreak of pandemics such as Covid. Social wealth is getting more concentrated into fewer hands and capitalist social relations retard the productivity of the economic base. To an increasing degree, the ideological consciousness of the popular masses is severely stifled in imperialist societies and cultural values are turned into commodities by the bourgeoise. National and class culture is being submerged by a tidal wave of cosmopolitanism. The question that confronts the Human Race is how to build a world where the values of peace, independence, and creativity are to be given free rein? The Juche Idea provides an ideological framework to ensure the working masses have the position of becoming the masters of society and nature in the 21st century. Society in Britain is confronted with many outstanding problems like wealth inequality, the Post-Brexit situation, austerity, Neo-Liberalism, and dealing with the aftermath of Covid 19. The solutions offered by the previous varieties of Working-Class ideologies and practices in respect to contemporary social issues have proven to be rather inadequate. The pace of deindustrialization in Britain has resulted in a declassed stratum that rejects any sort of organization in favour of individualism and a petty-bourgeoise which promotes liberalism. The application of the Juche Idea can only be accomplished by creatively translated the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist ideology into the conditions of England, Scotland and Wales. It is the task of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea to disseminate and apply Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism to Britain despite any retrograde opposition from the Right and certain quarters on the Left.
Innovation, creativity, and loyalty to revolutionary principles mark the leadership style of General Secretary Kim Jong Un. The 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea held in January 2021 announced the most ambitious programme in order to further strengthen socialism in the DPRK and more towards communism. All the mass organizations, including the Youth League, the Trade Unions, and the Women's Union held their congresses in support of intensifying the ideological and material base of socialism. All the technological advances of the present century are being put at the service of the people in the DPRK. The DPRK to due its self-reliant measures kept the Coronavirus out of its territory. International public opinion has been thrilled at the pace of development in the DPRK achieved under the guidance of General Secretary Kim Jong Un. The September 9th, 2021 parade staged commemorating the 73rd anniversary of the DPRK's founding was an illustrative example of the power of Juche Korea. Today, the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea is the most independent country which upholds firmly the values of socialism and anti-imperialism. The life and work of the Great Leader President Kim IL Sung are more applicable to the issues of the 21st century and should be studied on a wider scale. It is the Juche Idea that provides salvation to the progressive peoples of all nations.
