Ri Yong Mu Passes Away



Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- An obituary of winner of Kim Il Sung Order and Kim Jong Il Order and DPRK Hero Ri Yong Mu, an adviser of the former Ministry of the People's Armed Forces and the Central Land Rezoning Headquarters, was issued by the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Thursday. He died of acute myocardial infarction at 08:40 Thursday at the age of 97.


He was a revolutionary soldier loyal to President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and a veteran revolutionary who lived a worthwhile life under the great trust and care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the obituary said, and went on:


Born into a poor peasant family during the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule, he lived a bitter life as a member of the stateless nation in an alien land with his parents. After the liberation of Korea, he became a competent military and political official of the revolutionary army under the care of the President. He devoted his all to the sacred cause for the victorious advance of the Juche revolution with intense loyalty to the party and the leaders.


He worked as a military and political official at units at all levels of the People's Army ranging from a deputy battalion commander for political affairs to the chief of the political department of a division and a divisional commander. In the period of laying the Party's foundation for carrying forward the cause of Juche, he consecutively worked as deputy director and concurrently director of organizational department of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army and also its first deputy director and director, performing distinguished feats in thoroughly establishing the monolithic command system of the leader across the entire army and implementing the Juche-based army building idea and line.


Working at major state institutions including the State Inspection Commission, the Ministry of Public Security and the Traffic Commission, he actively contributed to the steady advance of our-style socialist cause, true to the idea and leadership of the President and the Chairman. Especially for nearly 20 years he had displayed high responsibility and leadership ability at an important post of the vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission, performing considerable feats in carrying out the grand plan of the Chairman to transform the land of the country as befitting that of socialist Korea.


In the period of the new succession of the revolutionary cause of Juche, he remained loyal to his responsibility and duty as a veteran revolutionary in holding in high esteem Kim Jong Un as the only center of the leadership and unity and reliably carrying forward the revolutionary idea and cause of the great leaders.


Though he passed away, the feats he performed with total dedication to the Party and the revolution will be remembered long by our people and the officers and men of the People's Army. -0
