January 8th is an important date for both the Korean people and the world progressive people,because it is the date when dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN , the general secretary of the Workers Party of Korea , President of State Affairs of the DPRK and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK , was born .
Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN is a great leader who follows in the footsteps of the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG and the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL . Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN has worked hard to put the Juche idea into action as well as working to implement people-oriented policies even in the most trying and difficult conditions in which the DPRK faces double ,triple and quadruple sanctions and blockades from the US , the UN and others as well as ongoing global health crisis which has claimed 5,494,870 lives worldwide and crippled the economy in many countries .
Right from the very start Marshal KIM JONG UN has been a true people-oriented leader .In his first public speech in April 2012(which I personally witnessed ) “It is our party’s resolute determination to let our people who are the best in the world — our people who have overcome all obstacles and ordeals to uphold the party faithfully — not tighten their belts again and enjoy the wealth and prosperity of socialism as much as they like".
Marshal KIM JONG UN always dresses in plain simple clothes and mixes with the people. Early on in the days of his supreme leadership respected Marshal KIM JONG UN criticised officials of the Mangyongdae FunFair for neglecting it , not showing a true serve the people spirit . When visiting Changjon Street he dropped in an ordinary worker and brought them gifts .
Once respected Marshal KIM JONG UN visited a school bag factory and instructed that the prices must be set to meet the people’s needs . When I visited the Pyongyang Ryugyong Kimchi Pickle Factory in February 2019 I learnt that Marshal KIM JONG UN had visited the factory twice and had instructed that prices of products must be set at an affordable level in order to serve the people.
When severe floods damaged crops and destroyed homes in 2020 respected Marshal KIM JONG UN was first on the scene ,driving there in person ,and instructed that immediate aid should be given to the people and that they should be accommodated in Party and government buildings.
Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN has always defended the socialist principle and kept to the road of independence , self-reliance and socialism . The imperialists expected People’s Korea to abandon Juche and veer off the socialist road but this did not happen . Indeed at the 8th Congress of the Workers Party of Korea held in January 2021 , respected Marshal KIM JONG UN declared that “The independent, planned and people-oriented characters of the national economy should be strengthened. To this end, it is necessary to raise the functions of the state that organises economic affairs, and ensure unified management of products on the principle of making sure that the fruition of the economic activities is channelled into promoting the well-being of the people”
This was basically a rejection of ‘reform ‘ and ‘opening up’ . At the same time Marshal KIM JONG UN initiated a campaign to smash anti-socialist and non-socialist influences and behaviours in society . The DPRK would not make the same mistake as the former USSR, the former socialist countries of Europe and others who failed to combat imperialist ideological and cultural infiltration and also the corrosive influence of anti -socialist and non-socialist ideas . Indeed, People's Korea became an iron socialist fortress of Juche standing firm .
Thanks to respected Marshal KIM JONG UN the independent national defence power of the DPRK was built up greatly . The DPRK became a socialist nuclear power of Juche , indeed a H bomb power as well as an ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile ) power . The DPRK was able to negotiate on a level playing field with the US . Marshal KIM JONG UN did not surrender the DPRK’s nuclear deterrent , he did not fall into the trap that others had fallen into.
Today People’s Korea under the leadership of Marshal KIM JONG UN stands out as a miracle of the 21st century . Due to the global pandemic it closed its borders nearly 2 years ago .Some countries could not survive a few days with their borders closed but People’s Korea in this period has pushed ahead with massive housing projects , has instituted the supply of dairy products to children and recently given all children in the country bags and school things. These measures are unthinkable in the Western capitalist countries . During the past year many countries suffered disorders and internal conflicts but People’s Korea has upheld single-hearted unity .
Indeed, respected Marshal KIM JONG UN is a great leader leading a new era of advance and struggle in People’s Korea.
