The millennial people's leader ! refuting the "Times Literary Supplement " article of 21st of February

The"Times Literary Supplement " which is part of the rabidly right wing Murchoch press empire , on the 21st of February.  carried an article slandering People's Korea and its leadership purportedly in order to review three very anti DPRK books . Nowadays there is a whole industry devoted to anti-DPRK propaganda producing literally dozens of horrendous books attacking the DPRK each year , many are complete fiction and not worth mentioning, .The books reviewed in the article are the deeply slanderous book by Anna Fifield which was written without actually setting foot on DPRK soil and based entirely on propaganda from the south Korean puppet regime ,  Glyn Ford's supposedly left wing "Talking to North Korea: Ending the Nuclear Standoff" but is not left wing nor is Glyn Ford and 'See You Again in Pyongyang " by the absurdly and ludicrously named Travis Jeppesen . None of these books have anything new or original to say and are just stock bourgeois , imperialist propaganda against People's Korea although it can be argued that Ford's book is the joker in the pack as it is written from a supposedly "left wing ' perspective aimed at a liberal audience whereas the other two books are standard anti-communist cold war vintage material.
The article is written by a Americanised south Korean Juhea Kim (most self-respecting patriotic Koreans would never anglicise their names like that ! ) whose biography suggests a liberal hipster type who has down well out of living in imperialist America . a country with many homeless and unemployed people. The biography of Ms Kim oozes liberalism, cosmopolitanism ,bourgeois elitism and middle-class smugness.
Really the article on the pretext of reviewing the afore-mentioned books was simply a gratuitous DPRK bashing exercise , an excuse to publish yet another article attacking the DPRK . The very title of the article is an attack on on the supreme leadership of the DPRK and the people-centred socialist system of the DPRK . Is the DPRK a dictatorship (the article presents this a statement rather than a question  ) , the answer is no . Marshal KIM JONG UN is the elected head of state and elected Chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea  is enjoying far more popular support than any Western head of state in history . In the DPRK general election held in March 2019 99.97 percent of all the voters took part  in the election and 100 percent of them voted for the candidates . A demonstration of decisive support and , single.hearted unity . but what of the so-called 'democracies' that Ms Kim thinks are superior to the DPRK ? In the US presidential election in 2016 , voter turnout was only 55 per cent .In the UK General election in December 2019 , 67 per cent of electors voted and the ruling party was elected with the votes of 27 per cent of electors . Clearly the leaders of the imperialist countries have no real democratic mandate to rule whereas Marshal KIM JONG UN and the Workers' Party of Korea  does . The DPRK is a people's democracy , a socialist democracy . In People's Korea , deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly, the highest organ of power are honorable servants of the people . Ordinary workers are deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly. There is no need to compete for a place in parliamentary easy street but rather a matter of the people choosing the best people for the job , people they will have confidence in . Thus elections in the DPRK are civilized affair . Moreover the turnout is virtually 100 per cent and people dance and sing on election day . In the DPRK people exercise power at all levels from the humble people's neighourhood unit to the Supreme People's Assembly.
From time to time the real rulers in so-called "democracies ' when faced with serious crisis , dispense with the facade and rule by force , this is what happened in Germany , Italy and other countries in the 1930s . A dictatorship is when the capitalist megacorporations sink their differences and entrust power to one individual or a group of individuals to rule on their behalf . However in the DPRK where social ownership prevails there are no big private corporations so a dictatorship cannot arise.
Ms Kim in the opening paragraphs of her article refers to the hostility and hatred towards the DPRK and respected Marshal KIM JONG UN in the imperialist world . It is a real cliche of bourgeois writers on the DPRK to refer to the 'international community'  which simply means the US plus the EU and other European countries and a few satellite states and puppet regimes. The hostility to the DPRK is simply generated by the corporate controlled mainstream media in imperialist countries who publish anti-DPRK material full of lies night and day .
A few years ago we published an article explaining the hostility to People's Korea and respected Marshal KIM JONG UN and reproduce part of it here:

Firstly , pure and simple it is because the DPRK is a socialist state . The DPRK virtually alone in the
world is upholding the banner of socialism .The DPRK rejects the capitalist market economy  and has a planned economy . At the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea a five year economic plan was adopted.
Secondly, the DPRK is the most independent country in the world , it rejects the American empire , it refuses to allow foreign military troops or bases to be stationed on its soil . The DPRK is strongly
anti-US and anti-imperialist. It carries out strong anti-US, anti-imperialist education.Other countries have wobbled in their anti-imperialist stand or have cozied up to US imperialism .
Thirdly, dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN declared that the DPRK that  "The permanent strategy of our revolution and its final victory lie in marching straight along the road of independence, the road of Songun and the road of socialism" thus sternly rebuffing the idea of
"reform" and "opening up ". Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN made it abduntantly clear that he would follow in the footsteps of the great leaders comrade KIM IL SUNG and KIM JONG IL and that he would defend their legacy and carry-out their behests.
Fourthly, there is particular and definitive hostility to dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN as the leader of the DPRK . The US imperialists and other imperialist and capitalist powers had hoped that
when the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL passed away on the 17th of December 2011 that
either respected Marshal KIM JONG UN would not be the successor or that he would pursue
a 'reform' and 'opening up' line . Basically  the US and the capitalist countries hoped that the DPRK would abandon Juche and divert its train from the socialist road to the capitalist road . The US
sent certain US sports figures and businesspeople to try and soften up the DPRK , also all kinds of dodgy NGOs were formed in Western countries to try and influence the DPRK and to effect the so-called 'peaceful conversion' strategy or Dulles plan . This did not work . Plan B of the imperialists and also of the Chinese revisionists was to carry out a coup in the DPRK  and overthrow the  supreme leadership and replace it with a puppet of both US imperialism and Chinese revisionism . This did
not work either , dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN saw through the plot and rallied the Workers' Party of Korea against the modern factionalist group who were the agents of the US imperialists, the West and the big-power chauvinists . On the 13th of December 2013 the traitor was liquidated by the Korean people  ! The imperialists went mental , it was like the DPRK had carried
a 1,000 nuclear tests , they foamed at the mouth because the traitor had been executed and with
the execution their hopes of 'reform ' and 'opening up' flew out of the window. The door slammed shut on the imperialists and revisionists !
Fifthly, the DPRK is based firmly on Juche, self-reliance and self-development . The DPRK has in fact being under the blockade and sanctions of the US for decades but has prospered and built socialism splendidly . The DPRK gives lie to the idea that globalisation, markets , free trade are
necessary  for prosperity and increased living standards. Indeed the example of the DPRK holds a strong attraction for the peoples of the third world and even developed countries that want to reject globalisation.
So the reason for the crazy, demented and all pervasive hostility to People's Korea which threatens to boil over into a physical war is that the DPRK is a an independent , anti-US ,anti-imperialist socialist country of Juche which refuses to 'reform' and "open up".

Ms Kim turns logic on its head by saying that the DPRK elevates sovereignty over the needs of its people . What a perverse and absurd statement . The needs of the people are expressed through sovereignty , it is impossible for sovereignty to elevated over the needs of the people. The statement is an example of twisted globalist  thinking which implies that you need to surrender sovereignty in order to meet the needs of the people . In real life the reverse is true . Those regimes that surrender their sovereignty cannot meet the needs of their people and in fact sell their peoples to the imperialists. Sovereignty is the most basic human right , without it , all other human rights become meaningless !

Space does not allow for a full and detailed refutation Ms Kim's TLS article . However instead of reading the rubbishy ant-DPRK writings reviewed in the article we recommend the reader reads the excellent publiciations of the UK KFA and British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea  which can be found here
