“Reckless Killing” - Main Occupation of U.S. Police

Police are normally referred to as the executors of law who are responsible for safety of the relevant country and maintaining its public order.

But, there is a country where police pose a serious threat to the life safety of innocent people and even kill them.

It is the United States which professes to be a “law-governed state”.

Failure to adopt proper gun-control measures in the country are leading to frequent gun-related criminal violence. Worse still, the police who are supposed to check this are, on contrary, enforcing the law discriminatively and killing innocent people without mercy, thus to increase social unrest.

On January 28, the U.S. newspaper “Washington Post” reported that an average of more than 1,000 people gets killed by the police in the U.S. every year.

This shows that the police with a mission to protect the lives and property of the people are running about as master killers.

According to the U.S. media, more than 6,300 civilians have been shot dead by the police since 2015. But only 91 police officers, one percent of the persons involved in the killing, were arrested. And even after George Floyd incident where the black man lost his life in police violence, the number of civilians who are murdered by the police reaches several hundreds.

What is more shocking is the fact that the mortality rate of the black people by the police who are openly committing violence behind the signboard of “rule of law” is two times as high as that of the white people while the rate of using violence against the black people by the police is 3.6 times as high as that of the white people.

The American media website “Christian Science Monitor”, reporting on this in November 2021, said that the white people are 10 times more likely to be judged as self-defense when they killed the black people, as compared with the times when the black people killed the white people.

This shows that the black and those in low-income bracket are the main target of police violence and that they are much more likely to be killed by police than any other race and social organization.

The U.S. is a human slaughterhouse where the police get away with murder and are even acquitted as “victims”. It clearly reveals the groundless and reactionary nature of the “American brand of rule of law”.

The U.S., where human life is held cheap and killing of people is legalized, does not open its mouth without taking issue with “human rights” of other countries. This can’t but be a folly which is quite preposterous and presumptuous.
