The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK), the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI), the Korean Friendship Association of the UK( KFA UK) and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean peninsula (BSCPRKP) issued a statement in support of the press statement of the Director General of Department of U.S. Affairs of DPRK Foreign Ministry made on the 24th of February ;
On the 20th of February, the US imperialists and their lackeys held an 'open meeting ' of the UN Security Council (UNSC) at which they carped at the DPRK's legitimate and independent right to self-defence and created a big fuss over an ICBM test carried out by the DPRK on its own soil.
As comrade Kwon Jong Gun, director general of the Department of U.S. Affairs of the Foreign Ministry correctly points out that the DPRK is ' very displeased with the fact that they put a sovereign state's legitimate right to self-defence on the agenda of the UNSC, and strongly protest and denounce them"
It virtually goes without saying that the UNSC had no place to discuss the measures that the DPRK took for its self-defence against potential US and south Korean puppet aggression against the DPRK. The UNSC is increasingly becoming a mouthpiece of the US and a puppet of the US.
The US and south Korea are always stoking up military tension on the Korean peninsula. Soon they will carry out the Freedom Shield military exercises and plan a drill with a nuclear submarine for so-called 'extended deterrence '. However, the UNSC is silent about this and only blames the DPRK for the tense situation.
The US imperialists are using the UNSC to deprive People's Korea of its sovereignty and independence. As director general comrade Kwon Jong Gun says " The U.S. should be mindful that if it persists in its hostile and provocative practices against the DPRK, despite the latter's repeated protest and warning, it can be regarded as a declaration of war against the DPRK'
We urge that the US and south Korea stop military exercises against the DPRK and that the UNSC should stop acting as a mouthpiece of the US.We support the press statement comrade Kwon Jong Gun, director general of the Department of U.S. Affairs of the Foreign Ministry. We also take the opportunity for more campaigning in support of People's Korea and its just demands.
