Report of Inaugural Meeting of KFA Scotland

The inaugural meeting of the KFA UK Scotland Region was held on the 1st of June in the City of Glasgow .The meeting was attended by members of KFA Scotland and the UK KFA leadership including official Delegate and Chairman Dr Dermot Hudson and Communications Secretary James Taylor . The meeting room was packed full. Many young people attended the meeting and members of several political parties were present .
The meeting was chaired by Mitchell Wells, KFA Scotland Zone delegate  who introduced the meeting by explaining what the Korean Friendship Association is and why they were forming a Scotland regional branch of KFA UK

Dr  Dermot  Hudson Chairman of KFA UK spoke about the reality of the DPRK that he witnessed through his visits in February and April saying that "  Indeed during the course of my two  visits I could see that the DPRK is fighting back against the unjust imperialist sanctions through self-reliance and that the sanctions have no effect on the internal economy of the DPRK and the lives of the people.  In February I was able to visit both Mirae Scientists Street (completed in 2016) and Ryomyong Street (completed in 2017 ) both extremely futuristic streets which are more like towns than streets as they house thousands of families . In the West these streets would cost billions to build but People's Korea built these streets under the difficult conditions of sanctions and blockade . Both streets were constructed in the space of a year."

Ben Lunn, composer , writer, political figure and disabled rights activist spoke about Arts and Culture in the DPRK  saying that ' Kim Il Sung, did produce multiple speeches on the role of the arts, however the circumstances were different to Kim Jong-Il’s. Namely, Kim Il Sung was in a fight to not only stabilise the DPRK after the horrific imperialist intervention, but also to push the DPRK from surviving to growing. This meant, speeches included encouraging composers to produce works which can be used as educational tools for the party and the proletariat'

James Taylor UK KFA Communications Secretary introduced the struggle and history of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic front of south Korea to the meeting and spoke about the need for the democratisation of south Korea and for the Liberal Korea Party to be dissolved .

Dr Dermot Hudson spoke about the current situation of the Korean peninsula denoucing the US hostile policy against DPRK and the US high handedness . He pointed that the Hanoi summit ended without agreement due to US greed and arrogance  saying that ' Marshal KIM JONG UN offered to shut down the Nyongbyon nuclear complex in exchange for the lifting of some sanctions. A reasonable proposition .Basically, the US was offered a slice of cake but the greedy Yanks wanted the whole cake , in fact the whole bakery !
Dr Hudson said the US must revoke the sanctions and conclude a peace treaty with the DPRK .

Mitchell Wells spoke about the Juche Idea saying that ' Every society has its ideology , every class has its ideology. In a class divided society such as Britain having more than one class we have more than one ideology, for example we have the bourgeoisie which has its ideology of liberalism. The DPRK is not a class divided society but a society in which just one class exists (although with various strata) which is the working class, or the popular masses - this one class has its ideology that guides it in its activities to build an advanced society without exploitation or oppression. This guiding ideology is the Juche Idea (also known as Kimgilsungism-Kimgjongilsm). The Juche Idea was first formulated by Kim Il Sung as a young man in the 1930s during the anti-Japanese struggle for liberation. In the 20s and 30s The communist movement in Korea suffered from factionalism, and flunkeyism (the copying of and/or relying on the big powers) but it was Kim Il Sung who led a struggle against this and in doing so he developed the Juche Idea'

A question and answer session  was held .

A resolution against the US hostile policy  was adopted .

The newly formed Juche Idea Study Group of Scotland adopted a message to dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN.
Comrade Mitchell Wells KFA ZD for Scotland was awarded the KFA Medal of Honour

An exhibition of DPRK publications was held attracting great interest from the audience .
 Meeting concluded at 1600 hours
