KFA UK Chairman Dr Dermot Hudson travelled to Glasgow , Scotland to address a meeting for KFA UK on the 5th of July 2025.This was our first event in Scotland for 6 years .
The meeting was convened by anti-war and anti- NATO activists in Glasgow . It was a crowded meeting with no spare seats .
The chairman of the meeting in his introduction pointed out that the Korean War never really ended and that during the Korean War the US imperialists killed many innocent Koreans .
Dr Dermot Hudson ,chairman of the Korean Friendship Association of the UK addressed the meeting on the theme “ People’s Korea behind the Mirror of Lies “ . Dr Hudson said that the mainstream media of the West had created a mirror of lies around the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK ) which is one of the most lied about countries in the world . He pointed out that if you believed the stories about the DPRK in the mainstream then it would mean that everyone in the DPRK had starved to death 3 times and been executed at least twice ! . Dr Hudson explained that a huge anti-DPRK propaganda machine that runs 24/7 had been created and that south Korea had bribed journalists and academics to spread anti-DPRK propaganda.
Dr Hudson pointed out DPRK citizens enjoy free housing , free health care , free education . He said that the amount of construction work in Pyongyang has increased and that a massive programme of rural construction has been initiated as well as the 20 x 10 regional development programme.
There was a very lively discussion with many questions being put on all sorts of questions such as democracy and elections in the DPRK and social equality in the DPRK .
All in all it was a great meeting and there will be more events in Scotland by KFA UK in the future including a possible cultural event .
