On the 30th of June 2025 at 1900 hours BST the Korean Friendship Association of the UK (KFA UK) held its 28th film night which was participated in by KFA UK officials and members from London and Scotland as well guests from KFA Andalusia , KFA Spain, KFA Canada , KFA Germany and the People’s Korea Initiative of Poland .
The film shown was the film “An Jung Gun shoots Ito Hirobumi “ , a DPRK historical drama film depicting actual real life historical events .The film explains how Japan colonized Korea through crafty scheming , the cultivation of internal pro-Japanese traitors and sheer brute force . An Jung Gun , a young patriot fights for the independence of the Korean nation .At first he organises a movement to pay back Korea’s debts to Japan, this fails so he joins the Righteous Volunteers Army but that too fails to organise resistance to Japan so he takes the road of individual terrorism resolving to assassinate the villainous and cunning Ito Hirobumi . An succeeds in assassinating Ito Hirobumi in Harbin but is handed over by the Russian authorities to the Japanese and executed .
The film provides useful insights into the history of Korea and explains how Korea was colonised by the Japanese imperialists . The ferocity and craftiness of Japanese imperialism , which is all too often overlooked in the West , is accurately portrayed in detail in the film . It does not go unnoticed that both the US and UK aided and abetted Japan’s seizure of Korea.
The film night concluded at 21.20 hour BST
