In the history of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea July 27 is recorded in golden letters as the great war victory day.

The Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) was the first and grimmest trial faced by the young Republic; it was a fierce war that would decide the fate of the country.

In the war that can be called a showdown between a rifle and an atomic bomb, the Korean people, under the wise guidance of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, defeated the imperialist allied forces led by the US, which had boasted of being the “strongest” in the world, and defended the dignity, honour and sovereignty of their country and the environment for its independent development.

The historic victory in the war was a great triumph of the Juche-oriented military ideas and outstanding strategy and tactics of Kim Il Sung, ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander, and of the indomitable spiritual strength of the Korean people who heroically fought closely united around the Workers’ Party of Korea and the leader.

Thanks to the victory, the country could define the orientation of its new, great history of socialist revolution and construction after the war and create proud traditions and assets on the strength of which its state and people could always emerge victorious.

As the spirit of defending the country and revolution created in the three-year war became the ideological element of all the people, the DPRK has won one victory after another in the 70-odd-year confrontation with the US after the war and performed epoch-making creations and transformations in the face of trials of history.

The victory in the war was an event of global significance in that it contributed to defending the peace and safety of mankind by frustrating the US hegemonistic strategy to bring the Asian Continent and the rest of the world under its control after the Second World War and preventing a new world war.

The Korean people are glorifying July 27, the war victory day, as the day of their eternal victory and fully demonstrating the wisdom and valour of heroic Korea and heroic people in the grand onward march for the comprehensive development of socialism under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
