The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and Korean Friendship Association UK issued the following joint statement in support of the press statement of the  policy section chief of the Institute for Japan Studies under the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic(DPRK) that was titled  "Japan's defense white paper is a war scenario for realizing its ambition for reinvasion from A to Z": that was issued on Thursday 17th of July;

The press statement issued by the  policy section chief of the Institute for Japan Studies of the DPRK Foreign Ministry correctly draws attention to the dangers of expansionism and aggression by Japan which is all too often overlooked .

Recently Japan issued a "Defence White paper " which bleated about the so-called "threat " from the DPRK , China and Russia but this is false . The talk of the threat from the DPRK and neighbouring countries is simply divert attention from Japan's own massive build up of military forces for aggression . Japan has increased defence spending to record levels . In fact Japan is spending $734 billion on defence ranking it among the biggest military spenders in the world .

 Japan is considering deploying U.S.-produced 400 Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles and type 12 surface-to-ship guided missiles which increased the range of more than 1 000 km .

It is very clear to that Japan intends to commit aggression against the DPRK and its neighbouring countries .  More need to be done to alert progressives in Britain and the peace movement to the inherent dangers of Japanese militarism .

The DPRK is absolutely correct to strengthen its nuclear deterrent .
