Believing in the People as in Heaven
The great leader Kim Il Sung regarded it as his lifelong motto to believe in the people as in heaven.
He kept the demand and interests of the people above the Party and state activities with the noble idea on regarding the people as the God and conducting the state affairs for them.
He always found himself among people to talk with them without ceremony and discuss the state affairs of the country. When he called at a house, he opened a pot lid and a rice jar in kitchen to learn about the family circumstances. His benevolent image is still kept in the hearts of the Korean people.
One day in September 1948 Kim Il Sung visited a village in Sukchon County at the end of the western coast.
The village was called a place unfit for human inhabitation because of shortage of water from olden time.
The local people dug a well but got only salt water. So they had to pass puddle water with a lot of larvae before drinking it.
Therefore, there were some people dying of an unknown endemic disease.
That day, staying up the whole night at a house of the village, Kim Il Sung met farmers without ceremony to learn in detail about the living conditions. In the course, he made a firmer resolve to free the people from trouble over and worry about water forever.
Thanks to him, an irrigating project was completed and fields were irrigated with life-giving water. On the day when their long-cherished desire for water came true, the villagers went out to the bank, on which they danced with great excitement.
As he regarded the people as the God, Kim Il Sung, once, said: We are making revolution to build a socialist society in which all people live a happy life. The officials should always think and act persistently with the people's interests as the first consideration of all the work.
As said above, Kim Il Sung regarded it as his motto to believe in the people as in heaven and devoted himself to their happiness all his life.
