  A military parade and public procession of Pyongyang citizens was grandly held on October 10, 2015 in celebration of the 70th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

  In his historic speech that day, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un said it is the mode of existence of the WPK to serve the people.

  And he ardently called on all to make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the great people.

  Kim Jong Un leads the officials to always prioritize and absolutize the people's interests and convenience and make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people.

  The following happened one day in September 2020 when the damage rehabilitation was in full swing in the northern part of North Hamgyong Province.

  An official at the site of damage rehabilitation received a phone call from Kim Jong Un.

  The official said to him that the people were grateful for the crucial measures he had taken to work miracles in the rehabilitation campaign.

  After a while, Kim Jong Un told him that it is the mode of existence of the WPK and the revolutionary Party climate to make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people. And he stressed the need to conclude the damage rehabilitation in North Hamgyong Province as soon as possible as called for in the appeal of the Party Central Committee lest the people in the afflicted areas should undergo hardships.

  Afterwards, too, he said we should make the people, who firmly believe in and follow only our Party, feel not an iota of gloom and underlined again that dwelling houses, schools, kindergartens and nurseries should be built well for the people in the damaged areas before cold.

  He also took urgent measures to supply necessary medicines to the damaged areas, and let the children from those areas enjoy themselves at the Songdowon International Children's Camp.

  It is the WPK that comes closer to the people in the face of difficulties and makes selfless, devoted efforts for them

Freed from the centuries-old feudalism, deprivation of political rights and social fetters, women in the DPRK are now revered as the genuine masters of the country and valuable beings partly in charge of the national and social development. With such extraordinary dignity and pride, they are now significantly marking the 79th anniversary of the proclamation of the Law on Gender Equality.

With the exact same rights as men, women across the country are becoming deputies to the Supreme People’s Assembly where state affairs are dealt with. They are respected as heroines, doctors, innovators and flowers of family and society. Experiencing this dreamlike reality, they are expressing gratitude to the great President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who opened up a new era of highly regarding and respecting women for the first time in history.

The great President Kim Il Sung put forth it as an important task to ensure human equality free from gender disparity, improve social treatment of women and respect their dignity. On July 30, 1946, he proclaimed the Law on Gender Equality.

Despite his busy schedule with many important state affairs, he paid great attention to prioritizing issues for relieving burdens on women, like providing water supply system in rural areas and opening rice-cooking shops and running nurseries in factories and farms and even to the trivial matters. And when women did something great, he showed big appreciation before anyone else and gave them great love and benevolence.

Saying that women are powerful force that advance the revolution and construction, the great Chairman Kim Jong Il built palaces of love in every part of the country including the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and promoted the creation and dissemination of songs for women.

He established social atmosphere of loving and respecting women, even taking meticulous care of such small things as hairpins and cosmetics for them with paternal benevolence.

This is why the Korean women held high the banner of patriotic movements with a burning desire to live up to the great fatherly love. During the period of building of a new country, they conducted such patriotic movements such as cloth donation campaign and food-saving campaign. And in the period of the hard-fought war, they defended the battle line and home front at the cost of their lives. Even in the days of the Arduous March, they continued to walk along the path of patriotism without any deviation, keeping the happiness of their families at the cost of their sacrifice.

Today, the Korean women are enjoying priceless dignity and blessed life as a powerful force of national and social development and masters of the era as they hold in high esteem the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un as the father of the great socialist family.

He accorded the title of merited person of patriotism and hero of the country to countless women who are soundly devoting everything to the prosperity of the country. Warmly calling our women who take more trouble than anyone else for the country as the strongest and the most beautiful mothers in the world, he is giving them all benevolence he can provide.

In the western capitalist countries bragging of “modern civilization”, women are still falling victims to all kinds of violence and crime under systemized maltreatment and discrimination.

Witnessing the painful reality, the Korean women are loudly and proudly shouting to the world that they enjoy true life, happiness and bright future because they are upholding the great leader in high esteem.

In many countries discrimination , ill treatment and even violence against women is very common but there is one country in the world where women are truly equal, even regarded as the “flower of the country “. That country is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(DPRK) also known as People’s Korea . 79 years ago on the 30th of July 1946 the Provisional People’s Committee of North Korea passed the Law on Sexual Equality which made women legally equal with men . It was profound and far reaching as it ended centuries of double and triple oppression of women .For the first time ever women could vote , something that would have been simply unimaginable under feudalism and Japanese colonial rule . Women also gained equal pay for equal work ,something that only happened decades later in capitalist countries. In fact even today in many Western countries the gender pay gap still exists.

Unlike the Western countries, People's Korea has backed up legalisation with concrete and practical measures such as free childcare , free education and other measures. There are even 24/7 creches and kindergartens in People’s Korea . I was privileged to visit the Changgwang Kindergarten in the centre of Pyongyang several times .This was a 10 story building(normally in the  UK child nurseries are usually 1 or 2 storeys).  The kindergarten had its own paddling pool as well a room with a model train donated by railworkers. In the DPRK mothers with 3 or more children of school age can work 6 hours but receive pay for 8 hours ! . In recent years the DPRK has introduced new benefits for mothers and also increased the amount of maternity leave . In People’s Korea  motherhood is not frowned upon and women are not penalised for having children . In capitalist Britain women from poor families are blamed for having children.

In People’s Korea women hold important posts such as comrade Kim Yo Jong , a vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea and Choe Son Hui the Foreign Minister of the DPRK . When I visited the DPRK in February 2019 and went to the Pyongyang Ryugyong Kimchi Pickle Factory by a woman manager .It is quite common in the DPRK for women to hold positions like director , vice director or manager or head teacher.There are  women deputies to the Supreme People’s Assembly and local People’s Assemblies . There are women merited sportspeople , merited artistes and merited actors . In Korea before liberation this would have been impossible  ,in fact unthinkable.

It is falsely claimed by the Western imperialist media that women in People’s Korea cannot ride bicycles and cannot wear trousers but this is a lie and a falsification . There are no such laws in the DPRK prohibiting women from wearing trousers or riding bicycles . Visiting the DPRK many times I have seen women wearing trousers and riding bicycles , in some cases riding a bicycle whilst wearing trousers.

Article 7 of the Law on Sexual Equality ended the practice of polygamy and made prostitution in any form illegal . In the West prostitution and the so-called ‘sex industry ‘ are a massive problem totally corrupting society . Cases such as those of Jeffrey Epstein and Andrew Tate are very well known but such a thing would be unthinkable in People’s Korea, a country where women are truly respected and valued . In People’s Korea women can walk the streets without being catcalled and can walk the streets safely at night . People’s Korea  society where equality does not just exist on paper but in practice !

The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI), and the  Korean Friendship Association of the UK (KFA UK )  , issued a joint statement in support of the press statement titled  "The contact between the DPRK and the U.S. is only a 'hope' of the U.S." issued by comrade Kim Yo Jong vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea "

Recently the US raised the possibility of contact and dialogue with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) so comrade Kim Yo Jong, a vice department director of the Central Committee gave her response to this in a statement titled  "The contact between the DPRK and the U.S. is only a 'hope' of the U.S." that was made public on Monday 28th of July.

In the statement comrade Kim Yo Jong makes it very clear that that denuclearisation cannot be discussed with the US pointing that 2025 is not 2018 or 2019. The DPRK's nuclear status is irreversible and is enshrined in law . No one should attempt to challenge this. Any attempt to force the DPRK into denuclearisation will be rejected .

Comrade Kim Yong concludes " If the U.S. fails to accept the changed reality and persists in the failed past, the DPRK-U.S. meeting will remain as a "hope" of the U.S. side. "

The DPRK is totally correct to reject denucleaisation which is just a code word for regime change .

We support the unswerving independent stance of the DPRK .

Brigandish "Agreement" Creates Precondition for Japanese Imperialists' Occupation of Korea

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- On July 29 in 1905, 120 years ago, the notorious "Taft-Katsura agreement" was signed. The then Japanese prime minister Taro Katsura and U.S. Secretary of the Army Taft held a meeting in Tokyo and fabricated this "agreement" in the form of exchanging secret notes.

After receiving a guarantee from the U.S. on the freedom of colonial rule over Korea in exchange for supporting the U.S. domination over the Philippines in the "agreement", the Japanese imperialists further intensified its execution.

On the basis of the "agreement", the Japanese imperialists, under the U.S. support and protection and without being interrupted by other powers, cooked up the illegal and invalid "Ulsa Five-point Treaty" without the approval of Emperor Kojong, the supreme ruler of Korea, and the seal of state in November 1905. Afterwards, they fabricated the "Jongmi Seven-point Treaty" to completely seize Korea's right of home administration.

In order to "legalize" it after illegally occupying Korea, the Japanese imperialists fabricated "Korea-Japan Annexation Treaty" in August 1910. They stipulated in this brigandish "treaty" that the ruling power over Korea shall be handed over to the Japanese king on a complete and permanent basis and Korea shall be "annexed" to Japan.

The Japanese imperialists enforced the severest colonial fascist rule under the motto "Koreans have to either obey Japan's law or die" and brutally massacred lots of innocent Korean people and forcibly drafted millions of young and middle-aged people for labor and conscription during the period. They committed the unpardonable, hideous unethical crimes including forcing 200 000 Korean women into sexual slavery for the Japanese army.

Due to the illegal and brigandish "Taft-Katsura agreement" which provided a decisive precondition for the occupation of Korea by the Japanese imperialists, the Korean people were subjected to all disgraces and sufferings as victims of the imperialists.

The DPRK people are hardening their will to settle account with the Japanese imperialists for their crimes as the days go by. -0-

Press Statement of Kim Yo Jong, Vice Department Director of C.C., WPK

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Monday issued the following statement titled "The contact between the DPRK and the U.S. is only a 'hope' of the U.S.":

Shortly ago, a person in authority of the White House said that the president stabilized the situation on the Korean peninsula and reached the first top-level agreement on denuclearization through the three DPRK-U.S. summit meetings during his first term of office and that he is still open to dialogue with the DPRK leader for achieving the complete denuclearization of the DPRK.

We do not want to give any meaning to the U.S. side's unilateral assessment of the past DPRK-U.S. dialogue.

It is worth taking into account the fact that the year 2025 is neither 2018 nor 2019.

The recognition of the irreversible position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state and the hard fact that its capabilities and geopolitical environment have radically changed should be a prerequisite for predicting and thinking everything in the future.

No one can deny the reality and should not misunderstand.

Any attempt to deny the position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state which was established along with the existence of a powerful nuclear deterrent and fixed by the supreme law reflecting the unanimous will of all the DPRK people will be thoroughly rejected.

The DPRK is open to any option in defending its present national position.

There should be a minimum judgment to admit that it is by no means beneficial to each other for the two countries possessed of nuclear weapons to go in a confrontational direction, and if so, it would be advisable to seek another way of contact on the basis of such new thinking.

I do not want to deny the fact that the personal relationship between the head of our state and the present U.S. president is not bad.

However, if the personal relations between the top leaders of the DPRK and the U.S. are to serve the purpose of denuclearization, it can be interpreted as nothing but a mockery of the other party.

If the U.S. fails to accept the changed reality and persists in the failed past, the DPRK-U.S. meeting will remain as a "hope" of the U.S. side. -0-

The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI), and the  Korean Friendship Association of the UK (KFA UK )  , issued a joint statement in support of the press statement titled "The DPRK-ROK relations have gone completely beyond the time zone of the concept of homogenous" made by comrade Kim Yo Jong , vice department director of the Central Committee (CC) of the Workers Party of Korea (WPK) on Monday 28th of July ;

 

The mainstream media has been playing up some statement of the puppet regime of the Republic of Korea (ROK ) about the so-called "improvement of inter -Korean relations " . In hard hitting press statement comrade Kim Yo Jong fully clarifies the stance of the DPRK towards the  Lee Jae Myung government of the ROK and re states the position of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK ) about the question of inter-Korean relations.

Comrade Kim Yo Jong makes it clear that the DPRK has no interest in who is in power in the ROK  saying that "We did not care who is elected president or what policy is being pursued in the ROK and, therefore, have not made any assessment of it so far".

Analysing the much trumpeted measures of the ROK such as reducing anti-DPRK psychological  warfare operations there is nothing special or generous about this measure because such operations should have been undertaken in the first place . The ROK's attitude is like a criminal expected praise or an award because he has not burgled someone's home.

The DPRK had concluded that it does not matter whether the ruling regime of south Korea wears a "liberal " mask or a fascist mask reconciliation and co-operation is not possible .

Moreover the Lee Jae Myung government has been pledging the continuation of the so-called "ROK-US Alliance " whilst paying lip service to the "improvement of inter-Korean relations ",

Therefore as comrade Kim Yo Jong rightfully points out " We clarify once again the official stand that no matter what policy is adopted and whatever proposal is made in Seoul, we have no interest in it and there is neither the reason to meet nor the issue to be discussed with the ROK".

This is a correct and just stand . The  measures announced by the ROK are simply a trick to try and make the DPRK lower its guard . The Lee Jae Myung regime still plans "unification through absorption " and to overthrow the socialist system in the DPRK and colonise the DPRK . However the DPRK has seen through these crafty ruses of the puppets . We applaud the DPRK for this .

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Officials, lecturers and employees of the Sinchon Class Education House, who are fulfilling their mission and duty as the red information workers of the Workers’ Party of Korea at an outpost of the revolutionary position and class position, have received warm fatherly love and trust again.

On July 24, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the house, indicating the tasks and ways for firmly preparing our people and service personnel as defenders of the revolution and vanguard fighters of the class, and had a photo taken with its officials, lecturers and employees. And now, he sent gifts to them.

A meeting for conveying the gifts took place on July 26.

A speech was made at the meeting.

The speaker said:

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who left a sacred trace of revolutionary leadership at the Sinchon Class Education House, gave precious instructions on further intensifying class education at present, acknowledged the unknown services the lecturers and employees made in firmly defending the outpost of class education, and feeling as if he had failed to show them all his affection, sent the gifts.

It reflects the noble intention of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who regards the political and ideological front and the anti-imperialist class front as the forefront for guaranteeing the steady succession and accomplishment of our cause and highly praises the merits of the class education lecturers, and his great expectation that they will as ever preserve their original features as career revolutionaries and reliably defend the important base of class education.

The speaker called upon the officials, lecturers and employees to creditably discharge their responsibility and role as befitting the red information and motivation workers of the Party, not forgetting even a moment the love and trust shown by Kim Jong Un.

Speech of Dr Dermot Hudson to the Brixton meeting and the online meeting 26.07.2025

 . In today’s world we are seeing an increase in aggression and intervention by US imperialism and its proxies such as the Zionists so it is important to  increase solidarity with People’s Korea  , an anti-imperialist socialist country . We are here today to mark two important victories of People’s Korea against imperialism . Tomorrow July 27th is the 72nd anniversary of the victory against the US imperialists in the Fatherland Liberation War (which is misleadingly referred to as the Korean War in the West ) and in less than 3 weeks from now it will be the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Korea from Japanese imperialist colonial rule on August 15th  . Both victories were the fruit of the Juche idea and are associated with the leadership of President KIM IL SUNG . Both are an example of a small country winning victory by its own efforts against overwhelming odds.

 Both US and Japanese imperialism were and indeed still formidable imperialist powers , Today US imperialism has a colossal global empire of over 700 military bases in over 80 countries .The United States launched at least 251 military interventions between 1991 and 2022. Japanese imperialism , which was most brutal , is all too often overlooked and forgotten but in the past Japan had a huge empire straddling across Asia which included Korea which it had formally annexed in 1910 . It should never be forgotten that Japan was not only an aggressive and expansionist imperialist power but it was an ally of Nazi Germany and fascist Italy.

It can be said that August 15th is the first liberation day of the Korean people and that July 27th is the second liberation day of the Korean people , so it is good to combine the two in a single meeting . 

As the anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War is tomorrow I will refer to it first .

The imperialists do not like to talk too much about the great Fatherland Liberation War in Korea or as they like to call it the Korean War. It is often referred to as the forgotten war or unknown war by the mainstream media .  The reason for this can be found in the statement of right wing US military historian Bevin Alexander , himself an officer in the US imperialist aggression forces during the war , who wrote that the Fatherland Liberation War was the “first war we lost”. The infamous reactionary senator JR McCarthy said that ““we suffered a serious defeat in Korea “.

The Fatherland Liberation War or Korean War was the first time that a socialist country was involved a full scale war against US imperialism and world imperialism.The US imperialists not only threw their own armed forces into the war but those of the south Korean puppets , 15 of their satellite countries and even the Japanese militarists who fought in Korea in secret wearing the uniforms of the south Korean puppet army . In some ways the Fatherland Liberation War was like a world war.The Fatherland Liberation War was an anti-imperialist struggle against the international forces of reaction headed by US imperialism , a class struggle , a war to defend socialism and a war for national liberation.

 In the Fatherland Liberation War The great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG always stressed that the outcome of war is not determined by weapons alone but the ideology of those holding the weapons.The great leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG had accumulated precious experience during the 15 year long armed struggle against the Japanese imperialists. He developed original Juche-oriented military tactics, the likes of which had never been seen before.

An example was the development by the Korean People’s Army of tunnel warfare , a new concept. An article by overseas Korean writer Han Ho Suk wrote that  “North Korea's expertise in digging tunnels for warfare was demonstrated during the Vietnam War. North Korea sent about 100 tunnel warfare experts to Vietnam to help dig the 250 km tunnels for the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong troops in South Vietnam. The tunnels were instrumental in the Vietnamese victory

 In the first stage of the war the Korean People's Army liberated 90 percent of the territory of south Korea and 92 per cent  of the population The DPRK carried out its own defascistation and de-Americanization programme in south Korea establishing a people’s democratic system   . A truly remarkable accomplishment that was achieved by the self-reliant revolutionary armed forces of People's Korea under the command of the great leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG.

The US threw into the war unprecedented numbers of troops and amounts of materials. The US even mobilised  troops from 15 of their satellite countries including the UK . They also had the Japanese fighting for them but wearing south Korean puppet uniforms   .73 million tons of war materials  were used in the war . Despite all this the US imperialists failed to subdue the Korean people. On the 27th of July 1953 they admitted defeat by concluding the Korean Armistice Agreement  . The US commander Mark Clark wearily admitted that "In carrying out the instructions of my government, I gained the unenviable distinction of being the first United States commander in history to sign an armistice without victory.”

During the three-year long Fatherland Liberation War, the U.S. imperialists lost over 1,567,000 men, including more than 405,000 of their own armed forces, and an enormous amount of combat equipment and war supplies, including over 12,200 aircraft, more than 560 warships and ships, over 3,200 tanks and armoured vehicles of different types, more than 13,350 trucks and 7,690 artillery pieces of various types. The loss suffered by the US imperialists was nearly 2.3 times greater than what they had suffered in the four years of the Pacific War during World War II. Even official US statistics showed during each of the three years of the Korean War they lost double  the number of troops lost in each year of the Vietnam war. Later comrade KIM IL SUNG declared that “In this great struggle our people fought determinedly as one in mind under the correct leadership of the party and government and thereby withstood the harsh trials of war honourably and won a historic victory inflicting an ignominious defeat on US imperialism and its running dogs”

 Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN  said that the Fatherland Liberation War  “was a military miracle unprecedented in the war history of mankind and a great feat of historical significance never seen before in the nation's history spanning 5 000 years’

Francisco da Costa Gomes, the then chief of staff of the Portuguese forces in Macau during the Korean war who became the president of Portugal later, once said: The operations plans of the United States were brought to completion through several rounds of discussion by scores of generals including chiefs of staff and military experts of the Western countries which took the side of the United States. But General Kim Il Sung foiled them virtually single-handedly. While witnessing this with my own eyes, I came to realize that he was an inborn military strategist and a great commander the world had ever seen.

July 27th is the second liberation day of the Korean people but August 15th is the first liberation day and it will soon be 80 years since Korea was liberated from Japanese imperialist rule . It has been 80 years of independence ,self-reliance and Juche .

On the 15th of August 1945, Korea was liberated from the grim and oppressive fascist rule of Japanese imperialism which had lasted 36 years. Korea’s liberation was thanks to the 20-year-long armed struggle conducted under the leadership of the great leader General KIM IL SUNG, the sun of the Korean nation, an ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander and gifted military strategist. The anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army led by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG had neither a state base nor rear to rely on. The armed struggle of the anti-Japanese guerrillas was a self-reliant one that embodied the Juche Idea and the Songun Idea. The great leader General KIM IL SUNG cast aside the flunkeyist idea of relying on big powers for salvation and instead conducted an independent struggle, based on Juche, against Japanese imperialism fully relying on the masses of people.  In the early days of the struggle for national liberation President KIM IL SUNG said “Experience shows that in order to lead the revolution to victory, one must go among the masses of people and organize them, and solve all problems arising in the course of the revolution independently on one’s own responsibility in accord with the actual conditions, instead of relying on others”

                                 

As a young communist, patriot and revolutionary in the 1920s, President KIM IL SUNG keenly realised the road of peaceful resistance, the road of dependence on big power and the road of factionalism were roads to nowhere, a massive dead end. So he set about waging the struggle against Japanese imperialist rule independently and in the spirit of self-reliance. He formed revolutionary organisations with the new generation of militant anti-imperialist youth such as the Down-With-Imperialism Union, the Young Communist League of Korea and the Anti-Imperialist Youth League. Believing that independence could only be achieved by the force of arms President KIM IL SUNG formed the Korean Revolutionary Army in July 1930. On the 25th of April 1932, the Anti-Japanese People’s Guerilla Army, later to become the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army, was founded and launched the anti-Japanese war which continued for more than a decade .

             The anti-Japanese armed struggle fully proved in practice that independence is achieved by the force of arms. During the anti-Japanese armed struggle, the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG  rejected the illusions of the national reformists and opportunists that independence could be achieved by peaceful means or by begging for it.

The anti-Japanese guerrillas led by President KIM IL SUNG, fought in the spirit of self-reliance under the banner of the Juche idea. They seized weapons from the Japanese aggressors or manufactured their own. Some had hoped that the Soviet Union, the first socialist state, would supply them with a hand-grenade factory but this never materialised so they made their own hand grenades the 'Yongil bomb'.Of course today People’s Korea has its own nuclear Yongil bomb.

     The Juche-oriented guerrilla tactics of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG and the indomitable struggle of the Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army (later the Korean People's Revolutionary Army ) tore the guts out of Japanese imperialism, defeating the million-strong Kwantung army of Japanese imperialism. The KPRA  fought battles at Pochonbo on the 4th of June 1937 and Musan on the 23rd of May 1939 just to mention two of the hundreds of battles fought by the KPRA.   On the 9th of August 1945, the KPRA under the command of comrade KIM IL SUNG commenced the final operation to liberate Korea from Japanese imperialist rule. The barbaric Japanese imperialist invaders were expelled from the land of Korea at last.                

 

 The defeat of Japanese imperialism, one of the main forces and shock brigade of international fascism, by the partisans of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army led by the great leader General KIM IL SUNG made a great contribution to the victory of the worldwide anti-fascist forces.

                                  

   The victorious liberation struggle of the Korean people led by General KIM IL SUNG, a gifted military strategist and ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander was an inspiration for the peoples of the colonial countries fighting for their independence and liberation. The 1968 World Cultural Congress in Havana adopted a document praising the anti-Japanese armed struggle waged under the leadership of the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG.

    

With the victory of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, commanded by the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG, in August 1945 the Korean people finally gained their emancipation from the cruel shackles of Japanese colonialism and greeted a new life of independence, a life of hope for the future.

The Korean people under the leadership of President KIM IL SUNG smashed feudalism and completely eradicated the legacy of Japanese colonial rule and built  a new People’s Korea, a Korea of independence and self-reliance ,  on the ruins of Japanese imperialism. Today People’s Korea led by Marshal KIM JONG UN is well known as the most independent country in the world and is building a powerful socialist country of Juche.

Report of online meeting of KFA UK and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea 26.07.2025

Following on from the real life meeting in Brixton , the Korean Friendship Association of the UK and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea held an online meeting at 1900 hours BST via Telegram to mark the 72nd anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War against the US imperialist aggressor and the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation from Japanese imperialist colonial rule . Participating in the meeting were members of KFA UK and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea from London , West of England and Scotland who were joined by international guests from KFA Andalusia (Spain), KFA Germany , KFA Greece , the People’s Korea Initiative of Poland and other friends and supporters from around the world .

Dr Dermot Hudson Chairman of KFA UK and Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea introduced the meeting saying that the 72nd anniversary of the Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War and 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation are momentously important occasions . He said the respected comrade KIM JONG UN’s visit to Sinchon shows that the DPRK is continuing with a militant anti-US ,anti-imperialist line.

Comrade Alan Bolon ,KFA UK Organisation Secretary and head of KFA UK West of England in his speech said in part that “This year, these commemorations have a special significance, because at this time, threats to world peace have intensified like never before, and the tendencies to unleash global armed conflict by imperialism are particularly strong and active. The history of the Korean War and its victories remind us that freedom is not granted once and for all, and that many times in world history, lives have been sacrificed so that we today can live in a world free from global conflict, and the victory in Korea in 1953 is part of this.”

   Referring to the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japanese imperialist rule he said that “ It is our shared responsibility to reflect on this meaning, to highlight it, to imbue this moment, and to imbue everything what happened and it also will accomplish with a solemn character”

Dr Dermot Hudson said that “ Both US and Japanese imperialism were and indeed still formidable imperialist powers , Today US imperialism has a colossal global empire of over 700 military bases in over 80 countries .The United States launched at least 251 military interventions between 1991 and 2022. Japanese imperialism , which was most brutal , is all too often overlooked and forgotten but in the past Japan had a huge empire straddling across Asia which included Korea which it had formally annexed in 1910 . It should never be forgotten that Japan was not only an aggressive and expansionist imperialist power but it was an ally of Nazi Germany and fascist Italy.

It can be said that August 15th is the first liberation day of the Korean people and that July 27th is the second liberation day of the Korean people , so it is good to combine the two in a single meeting “

Referring to the Fatherland Liberation War Dr Hudson stressed that “

The Fatherland Liberation War or Korean War was the first time that a socialist country was involved a full scale war against US imperialism and world imperialism.The US imperialists not only threw their own armed forces into the war but those of the south Korean puppets , 15 of their satellite countries and even the Japanese militarists who fought in Korea in secret wearing the uniforms of the south Korean puppet army . In some ways the Fatherland Liberation War was like a world war.The Fatherland Liberation War was an anti-imperialist struggle against the international forces of reaction headed by US imperialism , a class struggle , a war to defend socialism and a war for national liberation”

Addressing the subject of Korea’s liberation from Japanese imperialist rule he said “The defeat of Japanese imperialism, one of the main forces and shock brigade of international fascism, by the partisans of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army led by the great leader General KIM IL SUNG made a great contribution to the victory of the worldwide anti-fascist forces”

A representative of KFA Scotland spoke praising the victory of the Korean people against US imperialism .

The Chairman of KFA Germany said (excerpt )” President KIM IL SUNG not only liberated Korea from Japanese colonial rule, but also beat the US-imperialists in the fatherland liberation war, which is known in the west as the Korean war. Basically he beat two of the most powerful Empires of all time in one generation.”

A representative of KFA Greece addressed the meeting bringing the greetings of KFA Greece to the meeting . He also denounced the reactionary role played by Greece during the Fatherland Liberation War.

The documentaries “Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum” and “Monument to Fallen Anti -Japanese Revolutionary Fighters” were streamed via Telegram.

Report of Meeting of the Korean Friendship Association UK and British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea Saturday 26th of July .

The Korean Friendship Association UK (KFA UK ) and British Group for the Study of the Juche held a meeting to mark the 72nd anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the great Fatherland Liberation War against the US imperialist and the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japanese imperialist rule. The meeting was held on the 26th of July at 1400 hours BST in the Vida Walsh Centre , Brixton . Attending the meeting were members and supporters of KFA UK , also leadership members of the New Communist Party including the general secretary and politburo members of the party , a supporter of the RCPBML and members of the general public .

In opening the meeting Dr Dermot Hudson , Chairman of KFA UK and Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea said that the visit of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN to the Sinchon Class Education Centre  is highly significant as it shows that the DPRK is committed to the line of anti-Americanism and strengthening anti-imperialist class education .

In his keynote address Dr Hudson said in part that “In today’s world we are seeing an increase in aggression and intervention by US imperialism and its proxies such as the Zionists so it is important to  increase solidarity with People’s Korea  , an anti-imperialist socialist country . We are here today to mark two important victories of People’s Korea against imperialism . Tomorrow July 27th is the 72nd anniversary of the victory against the US imperialists in the Fatherland Liberation War (which is misleadingly referred to as the Korean War in the West ) and in less than 3 weeks from now it will be the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Korea from Japanese imperialist colonial rule on August 15th  . Both victories were the fruit of the Juche idea and are associated with the leadership of President KIM IL SUNG . Both are an example of a small country winning victory by its own efforts against overwhelming odds.” 

Andy Brooks, general secretary of the New Communist Party recalled the great victory of the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation War . He pointed out that the south Korean troops in the War were reduced to the role of ancillaries and servants for the US imperialist forces .

The speeches were followed by a Q and A session which sparked interesting discussion . There were questions about the DPRK’s policies on Palestine and Israel and questions about building solidarity with the DPRK including reaching out to progressive ex service people .

A letter to respected Marshal KIM JONG UN was adopted.

DPRK literature and literature from KFA UK and the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea was displayed.

Refreshments including Wagonwheels were served .

Our Republic achieved a decisive victory in the 3-year-long Fatherland Liberation War – the fierce war with disparity in numbers, unparalleled in the history of world wars in terms of numerical and technical incomparability. It has been 72 years since the very historic day when mountains and rivers echoed with the shouts of victory over a strong imperialist enemy.

Amid the harshest-ever conditions and environment, a young country – barely two years old – defeated the U.S. imperialist forces boasting itself as the “world’s mightiest” and their vassal forces from almost 20 countries. Such an unprecedentedly great history of victory proudly teaches us a philosophical truth.

It is the immutable theory that the people and army led by an outstanding leader are always invincible even in the face of extreme difficulties and even in the attack by a formidable enemy.

President Kim Il Sung, the peerless patriot and the ever-victorious brilliant commander, put forward original and scientific strategic and tactical policies and war methods at every stage of the war to smash the “military offensives” formulated by a lot of western military experts and strategists. He also wisely led our soldiers to ensure that they hold full initiative in the war and punish the aggressors severely.

President Kim Il Sung declared that the Yankees underestimated the Koreans. Struck with terror by the daring courage of the peerless great leader, the enemies fled after their sudden attack, while our people and army fought unyieldingly and won. Their optimism for victory was fueled by the iron will of the great leader who took courageous measures including founding of factory colleges and recalling of students and athletes from the battle fronts.

Juche-oriented military ideology, extraordinary wisdom and outstanding art of command of President Kim Il Sung brought the haughty U.S. imperialists to their knees and fully demonstrated the dignity of our state and people to the whole world. Indeed, his exploits of war victory will go down in the history of our country.

Our country is always invincible under the wise leadership of the great leader. Such a proud tradition unique to our state continues from generation to generation as we hold in high esteem the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the peerless and outstanding great leader.

With his brilliant wisdom and outstanding leadership skills, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un unfolded a dynamic era of national prosperity, a long-cherished wish of the Korean people, and led the country to build up a formidable arsenal for national defense. He has clearly turned the tide of the unprecedented anti-DPRK pressure to accelerate the descent of the U.S. and its following forces with the irreversible and matchless strength of our country.

Greeting this meaningful and immortal day of victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, the Korean people are strengthening their firm resolve to build on this history of victory. Under the leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, they will inflict a humiliating defeat on the imperialist aggressors’ attempts to threaten state sovereignty and existence and check the advance towards prosperity. Press Statement of Kim Yo Jong, Vice Department Director of C.C., WPK

Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- Kim Yo Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued the following press statement "The DPRK-ROK relations have gone completely beyond the time zone of the concept of homogenous" on Monday:

The suspension of loudspeaker broadcasting against the DPRK, a halt to leaflet scattering and the allowance of individual ROK people for tour of the DPRK - these are details of the "sincere efforts" the Lee Jae Myung government of the ROK made since the moment of coming into office with hope for improved relations with the DPRK.

In addition to that, Jong Tong Yong, newly-appointed minister of Unification, proposed putting an end to the time of power for power and opening up the time of addressing the good will in kind, the time of reconciliation and cooperation, talking about the revival of the disappeared peace and the restoration of the collapsed south-north relations.

Recently, he is spinning a daydream, guessing the possibility of inviting someone to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit to be held in Kyongju a few months later.

We did not care who is elected president or what policy is being pursued in the ROK and, therefore, have not made any assessment of it so far.

But this time I'm going to make our stand clear.

As for the suspension of the anti-DPRK psychological propaganda broadcasting which the ROK authorities described as the first signal for the restoration of confidence between the south and the north, all this is the scourge they have voluntarily invited and thus it is the issue of themselves no matter how they settle it and is nothing but a reversible turning back of what they should not have done in the first place.

In other words, it is not the work worthy of appreciation.

If the ROK, which had stoked the atmosphere of extreme confrontation in the past after unilaterally declaring the DPRK as its principal enemy, expected that it could reverse all the results it had made with a few sentimental words, nothing is more serious miscalculation than it.

The past few years that the Lee Jae Myung government described as the worst and foolish period were not only the meaningless time for the DPRK.

The DPRK could reach a very important historical conclusion that the ROK, whether it advocates the "democracy" or assumes the mask of "conservativeness", can never be the partner of reconciliation and cooperation and throw away the preconceived idea contradictory to the reality after breaking away with a very tired and uncomfortable history fettered by the rhetorical expression of fellow countrymen.

We can confirm once again that the true nature of the ROK politician who is surely enslaved to the departed spirit of unification by absorption can not be changed as the fact shows that he has set as a task of the times the normal operation of the Ministry of Unification that must be dissolved along with the reality in which the state-to-state relations are permanently fixed on the Korean peninsula.

When only the 50-odd days since Lee Jae Myung's assumption to power are brought to light, leaving aside the past history of the successive regimes of the ROK, the ROK authorities made such sweet remarks as defusing tension on the Korean peninsula and improving the DPRK-ROK relations, but their blind trust to the ROK-U.S. alliance and their attempt to stand in confrontation with the DPRK are little short of their predecessor's.

The land of the ROK adjacent to our southern border will be stained by powder fumes through the successive large-scale joint military drills of aggressive nature, and the U.S. and the ROK will try to shift the blame for the deteriorating situation on the Korean peninsula caused by them onto us as they did in the past. The world will soon witness it.

No matter how desperately the Lee Jae Myung government may try to imitate the fellow countrymen and pretend they do all sorts of righteous things to attract our attention and receive international attention, there can be no change in our state's understanding of the enemy and they can not turn back the hands of the clock of the history which has radically changed the character of the DPRK-ROK relations.

We clarify once again the official stand that no matter what policy is adopted and whatever proposal is made in Seoul, we have no interest in it and there is neither the reason to meet nor the issue to be discussed with the ROK.

The DPRK-ROK relations have irreversibly gone beyond the time zone of the concept of homogeneous. -0-

Outstanding Military Genius

  The Korean War in the 1950s was a showdown beyond common sense between the young Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the imperialist allied forces armed to the teeth and in fact, confrontation between rifle and A-bomb.

  In the war, however, the victor was the young DPRK and the loser was the US imperialists who had boasted of being the "strongest" in the world.

  The victory achieved by the Korean people in the war was that of the outstanding military idea, strategy and commanding art of the great leader Kim Il Sung and it was registered as a military miracle of the 20th century and an event noteworthy in the world history of wars.

  Kim Il Sung created original strategies and tactics and war methods suited to the geographical conditions of the country, arms and equipment of the People's Army and characteristics of modern warfare, shattering the myth of mightiness of the US imperialists.

  Researcher Kim Un Song at the Academy of Social Sciences said the operations of consecutive attack were of great importance in the counterattack strategy at the beginning of the war, and continued:

  "It is the great leader Kim Il Sung who successfully solved the issue of operations of consecutive attack in our way, which had remained unexplored in the military field.

  At the beginning of the war Kim Il Sung put forward an original military strategy on annihilating the enemy through swift manoeuvre and consecutive strike before commitment of large troops of the US imperialists and liberating the enemy-held areas and made sure that units of the People's Army immediately frustrated the enemy's invasion and went over to counterattack all at once on all fronts. This is of great significance in the counterattack strategy.

  The operations of consecutive attack created by Kim Il Sung are characterized as those of new style of conducting all the big and small operations for attack on all fronts one after another without going through the period of operational preparations to expand successes in attack with high degree of manoeuvre and constant strike.

  This was a new one unprecedented in the operations for attack recorded in the world history of wars; it was powerful operations that perfectly applied the demand for realizing the counterattack strategy."

 Provoking the Korean War at that time, the US imperialists vaunted that they would occupy the DPRK in three days. By the immediate and decisive counterattack of the Korean People's Army, however, they were hustled out of Seoul, the stronghold of reactionaries, in three days after the start of the war and routed far to the south of the River Kum in less than half a month.

  They set Taejon, a point of military importance, as "temporary capital" and attempted to check counterattack by combined units of the People's Army finally by using physiographical conditions of the River Kum and the Sobaek range.

  Just before crossing the River Kum, Kim Il Sung came out to the Front Command and said there were gaps in defence as the enemy failed to build a defensive position in the whole section of defence along the river and concentrated their troops only on some points favourable for crossing. And he taught the orientation and ways to cross the river by using such weak point of the enemy.

  He saw that the river-crossing front was extended and dummy crossing was made with some forces to disperse the attention of the enemy and cross the river at a brush. According to his operational policy, the People's Army units crossed the river and the "line of no retreat" vociferated by the US imperialists was broken only in two days.

  Kim Il Sung advanced an operational and tactical policy on thoroughly encircling and annihilating the enemy so that they could not attack again and victoriously led the operation to liberate Taejon with bypassing tactics and combined operation of large and small units which were suited to our actual conditions.

He used active and superb tactics and war methods such as the formation of the second front behind the enemy lines, large siege warfare by cooperation of the main front and the second front, mountain warfare, night warfare, encirclement and annihilation warfare, positive position warfare, sniper team movement, aircraft-hunting team movement, tank hunters' team movement, demolition team movement in the enemy rear, mobile battery movement and mobile anti-aircraft artillery company movement.

  Thanks to his original strategy and tactics and war methods, a US heavy cruiser was buried at sea, air pirates boasting of their "upper hand in the air" crashed and the "summer offensive", "autumn offensive" and "new offensive" prepared by the US imperialists with much effort failed like leaves falling in the autumn wind.

After fireworks of war victory were set off in Korea, the American newspaper "New York Times" carried an article written by a Western military commentator, which said:

  "Why did the Korean War fail? It was an irreparable mistake that merchants of Wall Street made light of Korea at the beginning. Are they weak? No. As the process of the war shows, they were the strong who fought by special strategy and tactics and ever-changing war methods though they were inferior in arms and equipment. US generals alone should have paid due attention to the point that General Kim Il Sung leading the army they faced was a man of guerrilla warfare with rich experience. ..."

  At that time the theory that victory or defeat of war is decided by military and technological superiority was an established formula and law in the process of war.

  But the Korean War denied it.

The Korean War convinced the world of the truth that the people led by a great leader are always triumphant and nothing can conquer such people.

  Today, the Korean people are carrying forward the history of great war victory, the history of victory of Juche Korea, under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, another great man.

Human-bomb Soldiers on Hill 339

  The Korean People's Army repelled the invasion of the US imperialists, who had boasted of being the "strongest" in the world, and won a victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (1950--1953) under the guidance of the great leader Kim Il Sung.

  Whenever they greet the day of war victory July 27, the Korean people pay noble respects to the victors of the great years who defended the destiny of the country and people in the teeth of sacrifices. Among numerous battles during the fierce Fatherland Liberation War is the one to attack Hill 339 fought ten days before the victory day.

  On July 17, 1953 the Seoul Guards 3rd Infantry Division was ordered to capture Hill 339.

  The meeting held before the battle to attack the hill decided to uphold the honour of the guards division to the end and block the enemy pillboxes with their chests in case they were run out of ammunition.

  In the battle that day, soldier Kim Pyong Mo of the engineering battalion directly under the division blocked the enemy's gun muzzle with his chest and died a heroic death.

 Lecturer Kim Kyong Hui at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum said the self-sacrificing spirit he displayed in the battle touches the heartstrings of many visitors, and continued:

  "When the soldiers could not charge due to an enemy pillbox in the battle on July 17, 1953, Kim Pyong Mo unhesitatingly threw himself to cover its gun muzzle and opened the route of advance for his unit.

  The hero was 32 years old at that time.

  He provided a stepping-stone to the victory in the war by changing the happiness he would enjoy in the motherland after victory with the last ten days."

  That day soldiers Choe Chang Hak, Ri Jong Uk and Jang Ryong In also blocked the enemy pillboxes with their chests, contributing to the victory in the battle.

  The photos of those human-bomb soldiers are kept in the Hall of Heroes of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum.

  The heroes who sacrificed their lives without hesitation true to the pledge they had made before the country convince the rising generations again of how costly it is to win victory and how precious the motherland is.
