An online meeting organised by the Korean Friendship Association UK (KFA UK) and British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea under the title of “People’s Korea Continuing the Revolution and Living its Own Way “ took place at 1500 hours GMT on Sunday 10th of December . Participating were members of KFA UK and the British Group for the Study of Juche Idea from London, West of England , Liverpool and Staffordshire as well as leaders and members of the New Communist Party of Britain , Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain ML and Internationalist Revolutionary Communist Party .The meeting was also joined by international guests from KFA Germany (including the great-grandson of Willhelm Pieck ,the first president of the German Democratic Republic ) and from the People’s Korea Initiative .
Dr Dermot Hudson Chairman of KFA UK and Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea introduced the meeting saying that it is important to remember the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL and recall his life by emphasising that the revolution continues .
A 2 minute silence was observed in memory of Chairman KIM JONG IL.
Comrade Alan Bolon , Organization Secretary of KFA UK , head of KFA UK West of England and editor of “People’s Korea Today “ spoke on the subject of “ Living Our Own Way “ stressing that “Living our own way is, in a word, to live as required by the Juche idea. In other words, it means thinking and acting in the right sense as required by the Juche idea and carrying on the revolution and construction in the interests of the Korean people and according to the actual conditions of Korea.
Thanks to the great revolutionary spirit tempered in the anti - Japanese and anti - imperialist struggle, the steadfast and iron will, and the joint effort of generations, over the past decades the Korean people have continued revolutions and socialist construction by their own forces, relying on themselves and not appealing to any patterns or any outside help”
Theo Russell , a member of the Political Bureau of the New Communist Party and National Organiser of the New Communist Party spoke about Chairman KIM JONG IL’s contribution to the cause of Korean reunification and also the Songun policy stressing that one day Korea will be reunified .
Michael Chant of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain Marxist Leninist in his contribution said that the DPRK always lived its own way and stressed the need to uphold the DPRK’s right to be and quoted Shakespeare.
The chairman of Staffordshire KFA UK and secretary general of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea in his contribution explained the essence of the slogan “ Let Us Live Own Our Way “ and also praised the DPRK as self-reliant socialist state with free healthcare ,free housing etc and real people’s democracy .
Dr Dermot Hudson making the keynote contribution said that “When Chairman KIM JONG IL took the mantle of leadership after great President KIM IL SUNG passed away in July 1994 , the DPRK faced innumerable and huge difficulties . The collapse of the USSR due to modern revisionism meant that the world socialist market disappeared , some countries tore up trade agreements and demanded settlement in dollars ! The imperialists tightened their sanctions. The DPRK was hit by a series of natural disasters from 1994 to 1997 ,at one point 80 percent of crops were wiped out and also substantial damage was done to infrastructure and the energy sector .The reptile imperialist media and so -called ‘Korea experts ‘ (bourgeois academics in the pay of south Korea and the CIA ) predicted the imminent c
ollapse of the DPRK , even claiming that the DPRK would collapse in May 1996 … Chairman KIM JONG IL turned the situation around”
Dr Hudson pointed out that “ Today the DPRK lives according to the principle ‘ Lets Us Live Our Own Way ‘ . Back in 2018 some of the mainstream and so-called experts said that the DPRK would open a McDonalds and a KFC and would join the International Monetary Fund, none of which has happened . Instead the Workers Party of Korea is leading the Korean people to struggle against anti-socialist and non-socialist ideas and to reject alien lifestyles”
The vice-chairman of KFA Germany said that “ under the wise leadership of Comrade KIM JONG IL, the challenges of the difficult march caused by natural disasters were overcome and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has not only defended socialism but has become a Korean-style socialist nuclear power”

Participants held a brief discussion session about how to build solidarity with People’s Korea and gain support from the British labour and trade union movement.
A letter to respected Marshal KIM JONG UN was adopted .
A resolution calling for the dropping of all charges against KFA President Alejandro Cao De Benos and the restoration of his passport was adopted.
