KCNA Report on Establishment of New Juche-based Iron Production Process

Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency released a report on Dec. 21 that workers, scientists, technicians and officials of the DPRK removed the old iron-making process of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex and successfully built the oxygen separators capable of producing 15 000 cubic meters of oxygen per hour.

The epoch-making success made in putting the metal industry on a Juche basis is a precious product of self-reliance brought about by ardent patriotism and loyalty and heroic fighting spirit of the working class and other Korean people who are paving a broad avenue for building a prosperous and powerful country in their own way and by their own efforts by thoroughly implementing the Workers' Party of Korea's line and policy of building independent economy, the report said, and went on:

The molten iron pouring out from a new-type blast furnace of Korean style, a brilliant success witnessed by Juche 112 (2023), is a labor gift of loyalty presented to the 9th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee by reliable workers, scientists, technicians and officials who have devotedly upheld the Party's idea on Juche iron.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un energetically led the work for developing the metal industry into reliable pillar industry of the national economy out of his firm will that the 50-year and 100-year future of the self-supporting economy depends on putting the metal industry on a Juche basis.

Thanks to the Party's plan to lay an eternal foundation for self-supporting in economy, a gigantic industrial project started on July 16, 2021 to build a new Juche-based iron production process at the grand base of the metallurgical industry in the northern part of the country.

Officials, workers and technicians of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex fully demonstrated the practical ability of the complex in the construction of a new-type oxygen heat blast furnace, as befitting the firstborn son of the country.

Thanks to the devoted efforts of the steel workers, a gigantic furnace was built and the construction of stock dump, circulating water pump station and other facilities were finished.

The ideological and moral traits and technical skills of the workers and the overall production processes and appearance of the complex have been improved amid the brisk socialist patriotic movement and revolutionary mass movement.

Their high spirit to contribute to attaining the goals of iron and steel production by hastening the project assigned by the Party was also fully displayed in completing the project for installing the separators capable of producing 15 000 cubic meters of oxygen per hour.

Builders and technicians completed the installation of major equipment in only six months and ensured at a high level the assembling of tens of equipment including expander and cooling accumulator.

Members of the February 17 Shock Brigade of Scientists and Technicians of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Chongjin University of Technology and the State Academy of Sciences formed a technical process review team for stably operating the oxygen heat blast furnace and put their heart and soul into finding and tackling difficult technical problems arising in the process of construction and operation.

Officials of ministries and national institutions, relevant units and working people of North Hamgyong Province, too, devoted themselves to the patriotic work for firmly consolidating the steel industry of the country.

Thanks to ardent patriotism of the people to share their destiny with Juche iron, the new Juche iron production process was successfully completed at the complex in a matter of two years.
