The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK) , the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE), the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA )  , and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification in Korea (BSCPRKP)issued a joint statement in support of the press statement of the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry (FM) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) which was issued on the 22nd of August 2019;
   The recent moves of the US and south Korea are threatening to reverse the trend towards peace on the Korean peninsula and also creating a new cold war in north east Asia. Not only were aggressive military exercises staged in south Korea in violation of agreements between the US and DPRK and the DPRK and south Korea but F35A fighters have been introduced into south Korea. The US has also introduced  "F-16V" fighters in Japan and other surrounding areas of the Korean peninsula. All this is clear threat to the DPRK and is undermining peace in the region.
   The DPRK had repeatedly warned that if the US and south Korea held military exercises in south Korea that it will damage dialogue and impair the relaxation of tensions . Nevertheless the US and south Korea turned a deaf ear to these warning and held the exercises oblivious to the consequences.
The south Korean authorities have acted in a deplorably two-faced and hypocritical manner .
  The latest statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry warns that 'Escalating hostile military moves by the United States and the south Korean authorities are reducing the dynamics of dialogue for building a lasting and durable peace on the Korean peninsula, and this compels us to weigh a realistic way of turning our attention more to strengthening the physical deterrence.'
   We support the measures of the DPRK , including missile tests , to increase its physical deterrence in order to defend its independence . The DPRK would be fully justified in resuming ICBM and nuclear tests if the US and south Korea continue to increase their threats to the DPRK.
 Obviously dialogue and talks are the best way forward but this can only continue if a reasonable attitude is taken by south Korea and the US . Dialogue under the conditions of military threat and tension is pointless and counter-productive.
  We call for south Korea and the US to end their threats to the DPRK and honestly engage with the DPRK .
