The legacy of the Great Leader Comrade KIM IL SUNG – To the 25th anniversary of demise
The 25th anniversary of the demise of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung is reminiscent of the deep grief of progressive people over his loss, but at the same time with pride in the fact that his work lives and wins in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, where it is carried forward by the successors of the revolution and remains an example to the whole world.

The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung began his revolutionary activities at an early age and was already an experienced and hardened revolutionary leader at the time of the liberation of Korea from Japanese occupiers in 1945. He justifiably gained great respect not only at home, but also in the international communist and workers‘ movement, although he was the youngest of the leaders of the newly formed people’s democratic states.

Revolutions in some countries have suffered a big loss from the premature demise of their top representatives, such as Vladimir Ilyich Lenin in the Soviet Union, Klement Gottwald in Czechoslovakia, or Boleslaw Bierut in Poland. However, even in the event of the deaths of long-time revolutionary leaders, socialism was seriously weakened and the chaos and the disruption of revolutionary traditions happened unless succession has been properly ensured. This was the example of the Soviet Union after the demise of Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, China after the demise of Mao Zedong or Albania after the demise of Enver Hoxha. On the other hand, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has genuinely solved the issue of transmitting the revolution from generation to generation and remained firm despite the loss of its Eternal President in the most difficult time, after the fall of most socialist states, when the international progressive movement was aground and the attacks of imperialism more and more frantic.

Thanks to the creative development of Marxism-Leninism and the brilliant Juche idea, developed later in the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, the liberated northern part of Korea has achieved remarkable development in all sectors of building and defending socialism in the most difficult conditions of constant imperialist provocations and threats. After a three-year-long Fatherland Liberation War, a burned land remained of the Korean Peninsula. Human and material losses were incalculable. However, under the leadership of the glorious Worker’s Party of Korea headed by the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, Korea has risen from the ashes and built an exemplary highly civilized socialist society, imbued with love for the people, communist morality, collectivism and revolutionary culture, national in form and socialist in content that it does not have in today’s world of comparison.

DPRK’s gross industrial production increased by around 1000 times compared to 1946 until the end of the 1980s. In eight hours, so many products were produced in the late 1980s, as in 1946 for a whole year. The achievements were even more excelled in comparison with south Korea, decimated by puppet dictatorial regimes murdering patriots and besotting people by the American bourgeois culture.

However, socialist Korea has not only focused on the growth of production and living standards, but by decisive ideological work has ensured the unity of the party and the people and the real support of the popular masses to socialism. In many socialism building countries, the masses, as a result of inconsistent ideological education, have adopted the Western consumerism, admiration for capitalism and its decadent culture. This problem became more acute after the emergence of a new generation that did not experience the misery of capitalism and the anti-fascist struggle. In the onslaught of counter-revolution, most of the citizens in these countries did not stand on the side of social progress and allowed the restoration of class-antagonistic society full of poverty and injustice, as well as the loss of national independence and the involvement of their countries in warlike imperialist structures.

The orientation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on independence and self-sufficiency was of great importance. The fall of most socialist states has shown how quickly former friends have become enemies.

The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung visited the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in June 1984, 35 years ago. He called it a great revolutionary achievement, defended in a fierce battle against the class enemies. He called for the unity of socialist states and the international communist movement. Opportunist and revisionist forces in this movement pursued different goals. In less than six years, the counter-revolution has triumphed. The Communist Party of Czechoslovakia voluntarily gave up power, obeying the instructions of the Soviet liquidator leadership, and nobody defended socialism, although all armed forces were in the hands of the Party.

Socialist Czechoslovakia has provided brotherly Korea with considerable assistance in the Fatherland Liberation War and in the post-war reconstruction, to which our progressive people are still proud to this day. However, after the restoration of capitalism, it became one of the countries seeking to restore capitalism in Korea and joined many shameful defamatory campaigns against it. Unfortunately, most people passively tolerate this malignant course of servants of imperialism under the influence of reactionary propaganda.

In a difficult time, threatening the demise of socialism around the world, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea held up the red banner high and strengthened even more as the impregnable fortress of the ruling working people. The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung and the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il analysed the sources of the fall of socialism in the Soviet Union and European countries and ensured that such developments could not happen in Korea.

The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung has resolved all important tasks in building and defending Korean socialism. However, due to the frantic resistance of imperialists and reactionaries, during his lifetime it failed to achieve an independent peaceful reunification for which he fought for almost half a century. On the other hand, he has resolutely prevented the counter-revolutionary criminal plans for reunification at the cost of restoring capitalism and occupying the entire country with US troops.

Under the leadership of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il, Korea has managed to overcome the sadness over the loss of the Eternal President and preserve his brilliant legacy. In a world struck by wars and riots, it shines like a beacon of progress and an oasis of calm by securing peace with the most powerful weapons.

The Korean Revolution now achieves further successes led by the Respected Supreme Leader Comrade Kim Jong Un, continuing the leadership of the great persons of Mount Paektu. Enemies vainly awaited Rightist turn with the change of generations that would usher in liberalisation and capitalism. As the Respected Comrade Supreme Leader said, „When we do as instructed by Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, we will always emerge victorious – this is a law and a truth taught by history.“
