On Saturday 6th of July , the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea announced that Alek Sigley , an Australian studying for an MA at KIM IL SUNG University and the head of the company Tongil Tours ,had been arrested and expelled from the DPRK for espionage and anti state as an Investigation revealed that at the instigation of the NK News and other anti-DPRK media he handed over several times the data and photos he collected and analyzed while combing Pyongyang by making use of the identity card of a foreign student.
Predictably that have been howls from the imperialist corporate media as well as scornful outpourings from liberals and so-called Korea experts who deny that Sigley and NKNews are spies . On arriving back from the DPRK , Sigley was totally silent on what had happened . Was this a case of the guity wishing to remain silent whilst the innocent wish only to speak. Some five days after his return Sigley broke his silence and denied being a spy even though he had actually confessed to being a spy to the DPRK authorities. It is is likely that someone prompted Sigley to issue a denial of his spying activities.
Of course no spy ever admits to being a spy publicly. H,AR Philby the famous British double agent repeatedly denied he was a Soviet agent until he defected to the USSR and settled there.Moreover people have the wrong perception of what a spy or an agent is, they think of 007 James Bond , of a figure with gadgets ,elaborate electronic equipment ,suicide pills , guns disguised as a pens and a licence to kill. The reality is different of course. Rather than high powered professional agents , actual spies and agents are usually really glorified informers are under the control of handlers from whichever intelligence service.Spies may not actually gather information on opposing contries ,they can act as agents of influence within an opposing country or entity and work covertly to undermine or subvert or to change policies . This is a point I will return to later
Sigley was resident in the DPRK as a student not a journalist . To report from the DPRK he should have had a journalist visa and have been accredited as a journalist . Basically by writing for NKNews he broke the rules of his residence in the DPRK .
What of NKNews .They repeatedly deny that the CIA is behind them and that they are very anti-DPRK .This is quite ridiculous .It is like the US trying to claim that the USS Pueblo was just an oceanographic research ship or that the EC121 was in international airspace when the KPA shot it down. In fact NKNews is the worst anti DPRK fake news outfit working under the control of the CIA, south Korean National Intelligence Service and British MI6. Chad O Carroll its founder and CEO who was also known as Tad Farrell once worked for the German Marshall Fund a well known CIA front . Ex US army and ex south Korean army officers are on the staff of NKNews. A former Murdoch press journalist Oliver Hotham who is thought to have family connections with British intelligence, the foreign office and the British military , is the editor of NKNews . Traitors to the DPRK , so-called ~defectors~ work for NKNews . It is a well known fact that such people are paid by and are under control of the south Korean National Intelligence Service .
NKNews consistently attacks the socialist system of the DPRK It is hostile to theDPRK despite what they may say. Some of their articles about the DPRK border on racism.It also defames and slanders those organisations that support the DPRK and support the Juche idea . Recently NKNews carried out a classic CIA smear operation against this author. NKNews enjoy the protection of the authorities against libel action.
As well as writing for NKNews Sigley was connected with two Russian anti-DPRK pseudo-academic hack writers Petrov and Lankov

These two vile characters regularly slander the DPRK .
Had Sigley been a real friend of the DPRK he would have steered well clear of NKNews, Lankov and Petrov.
It is likely that Sigley also ooperated with the CIA and Australian ASIO.
People need to ask themselves how on earth , Sigley a student had the money to run a travel company. I suppose the non sinister explanation of this is that he is from a wealthy and privilieged background .
So what of the actual writings of Sigley in NKNews which some defend as being fair and objective . From what I saw of them , a lot of them had a typical cynical NKNews type , post modernist narrative feel about them. Sigley claimed talked of ~consumerism~ and a ~middle class ~ in the DPRK basically seeking to undermine the image of the DPRK a socialist country ,as an egalitarian society . Sigley also wrote very approvingly of how after the June 12th 2018 anti US posters were removed from public display and how this was a good thing . This is the true face of Sigley , a so-called engager , a believer in ~changing the regime~ .Sigley and others want to see the DPRK drop its militant anti-imperialism and eventually dismantle the socialist system , for the DPRK to adopt ~reform~and ~opening up~ like a certain neighbouring country . Sigley was a basically an agent of influence .
The imperialists during the cold war evolved the strategy of ~peaceful transition~ or ~peaceful conversion~ to undermine and subvert socialist countries from within . Allen Dulles the director of the CIA is reputed to have said ~"We shall arm comedians with jokes that laugh out their present and future. Poison the soul of the youth with disbelief in their purpose in life, awaken their interest in sexual problems, bait them with such lures of the free world as fancy dances, pretty clothing, special records, verses, songs. Sow discord between the youth and the older generation..."
With the change in the situation around the Korean peninsula due to the peace loving efforts of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN, the imperialist may move away from the strategy of military confrontation and ~maximum pressure ~ but instead switch to the strategy of ~peaceful conversion~ of trying to undermine the DPRK from within and effect regime change or its sugar coated variant
~çhanging the regime~. This is where NKNews and a number of other shadowy outfits come into play , ghey are working to overthrow the socialist system in the DPRK and restore capitalism.
It is good that the DPRK has been vigiliant and detected class enemies in time.
We believe that the action of the DPRK is a totally correct one to defend its socialist ystem.Moreover the DPRK has acted in a firm but fair manner and show due leniency to Sigley who confessed to his actions..
