Hwang Gyo-ahn, former minister of justice and prime minister in the days of Park Geun-hye regime, was elected head of the Liberty Korea Party at the LKP convention held on Feb. 27.
Though the head of the LKP, whose aim is to revive the party which is on the verge of collapse by impeachment and successive defeats in the elections, was elected, however, the LKP has no future.
He played a leading part in breaking up the Unified Progressive Party, rejected extension of special investigation into Park Geun-hye and denied the impeachment of Park decided by all judges of the Constitutional Court.
Members of civic organizations including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the Solidarity for Progress and the Progressive Federation of University Students of south Korea carried out a strong demonstration demanding dissolution of the LKP and denouncing Hwang who is disagreeing with impeachment of Park.
