Pyongyang, March 12 (KCNA) -- Kim Song, ambassador and permanent representative of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the United Nations, sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Manuel de Oliveira Gutterres on March 11 with regard to the fact that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea would not available to host the Seventy-second Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia because of an unfair measure recently taken by the UN Security Council established pursuant to resolution 1718.
The letter reads:
The Seventy-first Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia held in India in September last year has unanimously decided to hold its Seventy-second session in the DPRK during September 2019 in agreement by consensus of the whole regional member states.
However, the UN Security Council Committee recently disapproved the shipment of the necessary IT-related equipments for the WHO Regional Committee Session into the DPRK, and thus bring about an abnormal situation unprecedented in the history of WHO, in which the DPRK could not host the Session of the Regional Committee as expected.
The tentacle of sanctions is now blocking up even the normal activities of holding international meetings of the WHO which is mandated for people's life saving and health management, not only the humanitarian cooperation activities of the international organizations in the DPRK.
The "sanctions resolutions" of the Security Council against the DPRK, that prohibit even the shipment of computers and other electronic devices widely used at societies and homes of today, are indeed the action against humanity to destroy modern civilization and turn the society back in a mediaeval dark age.
All the facts above clearly show to what extent of the sanctions influence came to the pass against the member state of the UN.
This is to request the United Nations should now review in all respects the "sanctions resolutions" against the DPRK that run counter to the prevailing situation and public sentiment of the world and take appropriate measures in accordingly. -0-
